Maybe use the Torque sensor and try to make some Microcontroller that monitors that sensor and figures out from the readings if the wheel slips? just a thought.

@@orrinkerr3365 Just try out different Engines, Like Diesel, Electric, or a cobination, and use gearboxes to make it more efficent. Personaly i built yesterday a Jet Engine powered train. I took the power from the medium turbine and piped it via a clutch and a gearbox (so i can reverse) to a set of wheels and man... that sucker goes... haven tried pull anything yet but. Jet engines can get you alot of power but you need to experiment and have fun.

I built a tilting train. It uses a speed directional speed sensor to measure the change in heading and then tilts according to that. It's on the steam workshop. It's called, Spirit of Queensland Tilt Train.

The wheels begin to slip if the ratio |speed-wheelsRPS*3.14|/9.6 is greater than 1. So you may use PID-controller to dynamically limit motor throttle and keep that ratio slightly less 1 to prevent slip while maintaining maximum acceleration.

If you see this comment I need some help, I did this setup pretty much the same on one of my trains and the back axle was having huge wheel slip so i put the throttle wheel slip preventer and it just exploded my front wheel set.

Train wheels are broken right now, my diesel locomotive (Modular Engine) always produce 100% Wheel slip, it seems like to be too much power on the wheels, but i start very slowly (

Eh, I don't know why after using this my train is still unable to speed up. The anti slip system limits my trottle to just 1%. I can't reach higher than 30mps. I have tried to add more weight on my train, but it is not useful. How should I do to build a heavy high speed train?

so that's a way to react to wheel slip and prevent it, is there a way to proactively prevent wheel slip? As in, to detect if the wheels are about to slip before they ever actually do?

Should it be brakes instead? Unless using the brakes would be less efficent...

If you apply brakes, the train is - naturally - going to slow down. As soon as wheel slip stops, your train will start accelerating again. You get a very bumpy ride. If you just throttle down, the train /may/ slow down a little bit, but it should keep going at roughly the same speed because power is still going to the wheels. Your journey will be much smoother.
