In this podcast episode, DARE coaches Aida Beco and Michelle Cavanaugh were joined by Dr. Martin Seif - a master clinician who has spent the last thirty five years developing innovative and highly successful treatment methods for anxiety disorders including: Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
Dr. Seif is a pioneer in the modern treatment of Anxiety Disorders. He is a founder of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, Former Associate Director of the Anxiety and Phobia Treatment Center at White Plains Hospital Medical Center, Board Certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a faculty member of New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
In this episode, Dr. Seif discusses his personal background with anxiety and how it led him to pursue his career in psychology. He also provides insight into the field of anxiety treatment, including how anticipatory anxiety can be a poor predictor of future performance and the importance of understanding that the rules of anxiety are different. The conversation includes discussion about the benefits of psychoeducation and the concept of "trying softer" rather than "trying harder" in treating anxiety.

Thank u for explaining something i have been having issues with understanding. I have had times in my life where i was so stressed that i would start to physically shake uncontrollably. I always knew it was my anxiety, but I couldn't understand how i could easily move on from that symptom once it had run its course, but i can't do the same now. The fear of this unknown new symptom that was slowly building is what is keeping me from moving on. Thank you 💙
