I just caught my cat drinking dilluted dried up red radiator fluid on the concrete. Probably only consumed less than 2ml. I can't afford a vet. Should I find some Vicodin, and make him comfortable, when the pain begins? Edit, I just finished your video. He didn't consume much, so he should be fine, I hope. I'll update later. I hope I don't have to pull out the asprin for the long sleep.
I know it's not really safe for cats but I should have induced vomiting with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide. But that stain has been there for a while, and all the outdoor cats having licking the stain, and all are still alive.
This is the most informative info on RU-vid. Keep your damn cats indoors. As for my yard, I'm going to set up a bowl of antifreeze. Animal control didnt help. I'm so tired of cat poop and pee smell.
Disagree, if your country or city. Particular keep your cats outside and call them in at night. Of course if you do not have the land do not own a cat.
Thank you for this info. There's a cat that has been bothering me and his owner won't restrain him despite reporting severally. Our town doesn't have a functional animal control. So it's a lot easier to just poison him.
The cat next door doesn't Stay in it's own garden , It stays permanently in our garden I wouldn't mind but it brings mice In to our garden, and in the summer we can't leave the doors open .
@yeehawwcountrycovers ; we have every right to take out a pesky cat ! especially a disease carrying feral cat ! even a careless neighbors cat that becomes a nuisance ! cats are no more special than the mice/rats , moles , and other animals you put poison out for.
I'm glad I saw this there are stray cats in my area and I like to keep my anti freeze infront of my car. I don't have a garage with a door on it so the stray cats come in and sleep in the garage. I left the window slightly cracked too and saw 3 of them sleeping in there. I got just as scared as they did when I opened the door. I thought they were going to attack me.
Thanks, and no idea either but I find that a lot of people really hate it if they have to spend more than 30 seconds watching a video without it answering their specific question. I try and give full answers and information rather than soundbites so can't please everyone!
@@deathrodamus9608 this video gets a like from me because now I know how simple it is to deal with the nuisance of the owner refusing to keep the cat in and ultimately off my land lol Especially when kitty has a fitty and is a bitty dead lol
During the day its fine i guess 🤷♂️ but fuck is it scary and annoying hearing them screech like something possessed.... keep them damn 🐈’s INSIDE !!!!!!
My cat drank some of my antifreeze out of my drain pan while I was working on my car, luckily I caught her doing it, I instantly sprang into action, sped to the local spizzy (liquor store) and purchased 190/proof everclear, and forced 4.0/ml down her throat, we are on day 4 and I think I may have prevented her from dying but she was the world's drunkest cat EVER. she still seems a little sick... I'm hoping it's just from the amount of high content alcohol. Her name is Molly. Wish her luck. Thank for the video!!
I heard that this actually works. But beer is better! Did anyone see that episode of walking dead when the group drank anti-freeze poisoned bottled water?
I have made our cats inside cats, due to a terrible tragedy that a neighbor had done to the elderly couple who would let the cat out. They were warned several times. The guy put out food in a can and used the pinkish antifreeze to poison their cat. The lady got so upset because the cat would lay on his very precious truck. He warned her a time or two, then that was it. He poisoned the cat and Myself and the people down the street found her wobbling and the guy just laughed and said oops, I must've spilled some antifreeze. Too bad. Well she called animal control and police. All that could be done was charges and court . The guy changed his tune when the court charged him with mishandling a chemical substance. 1'500 dollars, the lady cried . The cat died that day before the vet visit that day.Lesson learned here please watch over your pet they don't know how many evil asses are out there purposely killing animals. Pets need some rights along with other animals that are necessary creatures for what little nature is left. There are very cruel people in this world. Love your pets as family.
@J S that's why i'm here sick of other people's "pets" in my yard , killing birds and nest robbing keep them in , or let them be terminated...it took me a while to get to this point , but i'm ANTI-pets
Cats get intentionally poisoned because of irresponsible pet owners who allow their pets to stray throughout their neighborhood and damage their neighbors property.
This is sooo true our neighbours never keeps their two cats inside and it runs like crazy on every one down the streets roof including ours and its always at early hours of the morning and it stomps loudly
Totally agree. My yard has at least ten cats that the neighbours leave to roam around. They mess up my yard and do all their business there. It's really becoming annoying. Especially the racket they make at night when I'm trying to sleep. They even get inside my roof. I've had enough!
I am being driven insane by a feral cat colony my neighborhood is keeping. Like man, I'm really financially poor, my country doesn't have a tnr program. I've checked. I love cats and don't want to hurt them, but I'm being exposed to feces and urine on a daily basis when I go outside since my lawn is a dang highway to them. When I cut my lawn if I've missed a mess then it just turns to dust as I mow. Do I need to deal with breathing that in too? I feel like a prisoner on my own property, the smell is horrible when I go outside.
A responsible owner, now that is impressive. Id actually love to have a cat at some point and when i do outdoor adventures will be under leash supervision only or not at all.
My cat got it maybe 2 days ago we didn't know but my moms car was leaking it cus the engineers never double checked and we dont have the money for the vet i dont want him to die
As a mechanic myself and also having a cat as well, I know if I drip antifreeze anywhere, I clean it up instantly by either putting down oil absorbent or soapy water. If I have any antifreeze on my skin, let's say my hands for example, I wash my hands or jump in the shower and get it off of me. I had a drip of antifreeze hit my tongue one time while replacing my water pump, and let me tell ya: it doesn't taste good. I had to drink water to get the taste off of me and it was nasty as well. The biggest thing I do is properly dispose my used antifreeze by putting the used fluid into a container, cap it off, and wipe off any excess that possibly spilled out and take the used antifreeze to a local recycling center, mechanic's garage, or to a auto parts store.
Sounds like you’re doing a great job Dustin! I’ve never tasted it myself but for everyone else, it’s important not to rely on the buttering agent as cats will still groom it off their coat if they walk through it and that can be all that’s needed for poisoning
Is motor oil also an antifreeze that is dangerous for cats and deadly to cats? and what are the symptoms of antifreeze poisoning in cats? please answer
Motor oil is completely different but yes, can also be very dangerous depending on exposure levels. Antifreeze causes kidney failure so lethargy, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, a generally very sick cat generally in 24-48 hours
Why kill an animal in the most cruel way. You could get a live trap and relocate them. I would rather be shot then poisoned and die such a slow agonizing death. And if I can catch a raccoon in a live trap and relocate them you should be man enough to do the same.
reading through several comments on this video and horrified to see some of the heartless people comenting saying they will buy anti freeze on purpose to poison their local cats....some people are cruel the animals dont deserve it you wouldnt like it if someone came along trying to do that to you so leave the poor cats alone
All of you that are publicly posting abuse on the comments do realize that it’s a felony to intentionally poison animals right? If you don’t like animals in your yard/neighborhood, go through the proper channels to get them out. It’s sickening that you people think it’s a joke to kill a living thing just for being in your yard
Joke? No, Its not a joke. The world doesn't revolve around you. There are boundaries. If you let your cat out unsupervised or unleashed, it's free game. Eagles, wild dogs, mountain cats, snakes, humans. You are exactly the kind of irresponsible cat owner who thinks everyone should put up with your irresponsibility. Well guess what? Nothing more sickening than your self righteous attitude.
It's not "being" in someone's backyard that's the issue man. It's the urine and feces being a constant health hazard & unpleasant smell. I adore cats, but man they're a real menace as strays & some people really put them up on pedestals in their ignorance.
3 of my cats died like this ... I am still really sad about it to this day :'( I saw my cat which was 2 years old drinking from a puddle near our car... I didn't know it was antifreeze until it was too late :(
This is good to know! I think you may have done a video about poisons plants to animals? I can’t find it lol but if you haven’t, can you (if you want to) do a video about common house plants that are poisonous for cats (or all animals) ? Lol we are moving and I want to get plants, so I’ve been looking this up, could be a good video! Thanks for all that you do!
Sure, I can do a run down of poisonous plants, although there are lots and it depends where in the world people live. check out this site and select the category "plants" from the drop down menu on the right: petpoisonhelp.wpengine.com/poisons/ good luck with the move!
Our Pets Health oh thanks! Yeah I was just thinking like people (in American idk about NZ) but around Xmas they get those red flower/plants and I know those are poisonous. But people still get them. Idk if there are a common house plant list you could run down. But! Just ideas hahah I’ll check that list you sent though!
I've soaked tuna in anti freeze and left it out in my backyard and when I went to the dish the next day the tuna was untouched! Do you think the cat could tell there was poison coated in his tuna?
Damn! Allegedly, antifreeze has a sweet taste which compels cats even more to try it. I couldn't answer your question cuz I just left out a few hours ago some tuna esque cat food with antifreeze injected. I assure you the food stank with fish, hence I don't know if the cats will be fooled. I mean I hope it works cuz enough is enough. I'll let you know what happens. But buy canned cat food instead, not the tuna we eat.
@@MartinGarcia-py5kx Exactly most cat owners are not aware of the havoc cats cause to gardens and wildlife like songbirds and small desirable animals. Frogs lizards and other insect eaters. My neighbor has a bunch of ferals they have been feeding and all my small friends are disappearing. Tried to talk to them but they don't care about anything but cat's. I'm thinking about trapping and taking all of them to the pound. Too many irresponsible pet owners now days
You should have been a mindful pet owner. This is solely your fault. Cats should never be allowed to roam freely. They can do much damage to your neighbors property. Im sorry for you cat. I hope you learned your lesson.
Can anyone tell me how much antifreeze will kill me? I drank a mouthful, and i feel numbed. I just need to know if i need to make preparations before i go to bed.
Yes I also think the neighbour had poured it down cause they were always moaning about thier flower bed and other reasons tgat naje ne suspicious Also another neighbours cat died too .Cruelty to animals said I need real proof I did check the area and there was d icer coming from the neighbours front door I put cotton buds on it and it was black on the cotton buds I wanted someone to test it MY CAT PASSED AWAY JUST OVER 2 WEEKS AGO He was in such much pain and hes back legs went at first Got him to vets as soon as possible and then everything went and then he couldn't breath and that was it .It was awful never experienced any cat I've had in pain screaming My poor cat was a very loyal gentle BEAUTIFUL loving and very vocal Irs so quiet in my home now So heartbroken xxxx
Good for you. If you want a cat then be responsible for it. You saw your neighbor complaining about your cat littering in his/her garden but you didn't do anything about it. Don't expect everyone to adjust their situations for you. Hope you got the lesson.
Thank you for this video! It’s very helpful to know since I care for ferals. I was wondering if you could make a video on Panleukopenia? Very sadly, two kittens belonging to a feral cat I care for were diagnosed with the illness after we were successful in trapping them. I’m wondering best precautions to take, since I do have two (official) cats of my own, and care for a stray as well. It’s odd that this video was posted today, yesterday I came across an empty (thank god) antifreeze bottle in the area my ferals live. I threw that away as soon as I saw it, and am so glad I always check the area for dangerous foods/ poisons/ items when I visit.
@@OurPetsHealth my pet died yesterday days ago my mother gave her more wormwood overdose then he drunk a lots of water and didnt ate.. then before he die he's legs arent worked
My little cat was poisoned 3 weeks ago. I noticed within an hour she was not right. We got her to the vet asap, and they were able to get her in a drip as soon as possible. We were so lucky as she is still with is. Please be careful as this was the most awful time not knowing if your family member wont pull through x
