Silver, gold, enamel, gemstones, horn, glass and more! In voluminous curves, whiplash lines, with female forms, natural elements and whimsy!!! Circa 1890 to 1915. THIS IS A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO USE WHEN SHOPPING, SELLING OR COLLECTING!!! I have always loved the lines and beauty of this short lived design period. Sit back, relax and enjoy this show! #antique #1900s #jewelry #collection

I've been a copper repousse artist for many years... Originally I sought images from Rodin, Michaelangelo, the Louvre, Scandinavia and, and graveyards like those in NY, North Jersey, Paris and the American South. I practiced the Art nouveau of women in all sorts of mediums to practice my art!! The lines are stellar...maybe unimaginable....like wisps of smoke with the refractive quality of the gemstones added!!!! You have given me so much to add to my knowledge!!!!! Thank you Jason!!!!

They have determined that Richard is not strong enough to live at home anymore. Hi Jason! ❤❤❤ I feel like every time I commend on one of your videos, I say, "this video was such a treat!" But it's always true, and they always are. As a huge fan of Art Nouveau (and Pre-Raphaelites and William Morris and that whole era,) I'm just so excited to know you've got more videos coming about this era! Can't wait for more! Thank you! OH! And the pieces you shared today made me think of the Elvish jewelry in Lord of the Rings! The costume designer must have drawn inspiration from pieces like these; the fibulas the hobbits wear on their shawls; that gorgeous silver necklace Liv Tyler's character wears... I could gaze at these all day long. Thanks again! I absolutely love you, too! And Kenly always loves your shout outs, almost as much as I do. 👽❤❤❤💖💖💖

Hi Jason. I have a pendant in my ebay store, stamped with older font for the metal. But it’s the construction of the piece that always gets me! I don’t know even a fraction of what you know, but I know this pendant is different. It a basket loaded with seed pearls on 14k yellow gold. I guess it wouldn’t be Art Nouveau period but what can it be? It’s got to be close to 100 years old. I’ll keep researching. As for video content, I love anything you show or talk about. Absolutley anything! Loved when you said, “I don’t know why everyone wants to correct everyone so much?! Let’s just enjoy.” I say, Amen! ❤❤❤

Thank you so much, Jason, for such an educational treat! Every single piece is so delightful. Like you, I don’t like it when sellers polish their antique silver jewelry. I’ve encountered a few dealers who did that and some of them were even very proud of how shiny the pieces were!😂😂😂 I consider it a crime!😅 Thank you again for taking the time from your busy schedule to share your treasures with us. I was going to suggest you and Jeremy create a vlog channel on your adventures in acquiring your treasures. Im sure i and the other subscribers would love that. You could call it Thrifting with Jason and Jeremy. Or Coffee and Antiques lol. Sorry for the corny names. I would be very interested in you guys travelling and showing us how you guys acquire the stuff you do. I remember a now defunct show on the history channel that didnt do so well. It was about 3 or 4 people that would travel to certain countries that would be popular for particular gemstones (tanzanites in Tanzania for example), these people would go as a group and they eould haggle and have a local tour guide to help them navigate the country and the logistics involving the purchases. Sometimes deals would fall thru and sometimes they wouldnt, but it would be interesting how much they got the gems for, and how much they would sell them later on to clients for making pieces. It was astounding to see how the gems would take a whole new life once they were cut, carved and polished and clients in America were willing to pay top dollar for a gem once held by a individual in a foreign land, the history of the stone from rough to sold was so interesting to see. You would be a natural for such a show. Sometimes the people would make a sale, sometimes they wouldnt but to see things go from $100 to being sold to some socialite for $5000 really makes me rethink about the evil mankind goes thru daily because of the ambivalent nature money has. It can be a good thing or a bad thing, it can be used for art or survival, necessity or splurge. How they can start wars, or start a life together like marriage or engagements. Jewelry plays such a huge part of society and how it has changed and influenced ideas and socieities hasnt it. How do you feel about Lab mined diamonds for example. They younger people seem to be moving towards that direction now. Im really still torn on how i would personally feel when it comes to me making a purchase and comparing one to the other. Ethically, it seems to be the right choice to make. But if i consider the impact it will be making on thr diamond markets/industries for example, it will lower the value of natural stpnes as well because of the competition. This was addressed by jewish diamond dilaers the Diamond districts in New York in a documentary since they were feeling the impact and the loss. They also insinuated that it could bring down the value or resale value of loose natural stones because people were flocking to labs in China now. They didnt like the fact that the market was being flooded with lab made and it was now cohabiting/coexisting collections and such mixing of stones was unethical in their eyes because mixing the two was just unacceptable. But i do see where theyre coming from as i would like to know the truth about a stone before i make a purchsse. The problem for him he said was that way before the lab mined explosion erupted, he had tested several stones that were lab made before made even became as popular as it is now and the implication was that there are so many lab made stones out in the market now being passed off as natural when they’re not. I guess i could see how that would look like a deceptive practice if certain pieces had landed on some jewelers cases for resale and they had not been registered or classified prior to today. Im pretty sure some of the older pieces of jewelry out in the market now are lab made and just had been untested. Because according to the documentary , so many lab made pieces had been out in circulation from the 2000’s , they just hadnt been graded like they are today. It can be someone’s meal for their family or a socialites trinket at the dinner gala. Just the difference in where they came from to where they land and settle is a story in and of itself isnt it.

Just popping in for the first time after watching you right from the beginning to say that I really particularly enjoyed this video because Art Nouveau is my jam. I'm glad you mentioned the book about Art Nouveau jewelry - I bought that at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and it is the most complete book on the subject as you have said. I've also seen a great exhibition last September on Art Nouveau jewelry at the École des Arts Joailliers in Paris with many René Lalique pieces but also jewelry made by other great artists; they produced a great catalogue for that which is comparable to Becker's book. And talking of the École des Arts Joailliers, they have a great channel on RU-vid where they have live conferences and in-debt presentations of their exhibitions, so you'll be able to virtually visit this Art Nouveau jewelry exhibition I mentioned, but also all the other ones that have so far been organized by the school (all their videos are both in French and English). Thanks again for the great content and sharing your most amazing collection ❤ P.S. If you ever come to France... 😊

Jason, just discovered your Chanel. Very interesting , enjoyable and informative.. I would suggest that your damaged enamel brooch is Oscar Wilde, particularly with the yellow flower he is wearing. Keep up the good work

Thank you for the kind acknowledgment. I am not an expert in that period but there was a whole Gilbert and Sullivan inspired , satire of aesthetic values, ‘Greenery Yallerly’ which you can Google and a famous Minton teapot with a limp waisted young man, and given that the brooch was a fashion piece rather than fine jewellery and the huge popularity of Oscar Wilde before his trial. I think it references that and the Grosvenor gallery. Just to add as a Jewellery collector of 30+ years I enjoy your informative and very personal approach very much. 100% better than another love bracelet or Alhambra unboxing, or the dreaded pearls are expensive and go with everything video

Ohhhhhh i ended this one with a sigh, the word exquisite doesn't even seem enough to describe this collection! The dish alone🤩I am so enjoying the depth of your knowledge that you bring to us with each video. I found a piece very similar to the enamel work pages in you book for $8 at a thrift store , I was feeling like it might be of that era and now even more so, the thrill of finding pieces like this is a lifelong quest. Now I'll go pull out my cases and play dress up during our snowstorm😂 Thank you so much💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🙏
