Why didn’t you get a transom saver for the motor? Those straps are putting a lot of stress on your transom. My neighbor bought his transom saver, because he travels a lot with his 16 footer. I bought one for my boat too, just to take away the stress on the transom. I really like what you did with your boat.

First of all, great job. Clean. Simple. Functional. Sweet setup. The ONLY thing I see that's a personal preference but that it could use is maybe trailer fenders and rims painted to kinda match the good look of the boat. Maybe silver wheels and that red on the fenders? Otherwise, sweet little setup.

Very nicely built. That's a good motor, you will get better performance and speed if the cavitation plate of the motor is flush with the bottom boat. Have you thought about installing a jack plate to lift the motor up? Since it's a long shaft.
@Outdoor-Tactics
@Outdoor-Tactics 3 года назад
You’re not wrong, I’ve definitely thought about it. But the plan is to move the motor onto a boat made for a long shaft in the near future, and I haven’t really noticed any lack of speed while running up and down lakes. Or at least not enough to make me look for a solution.

I hope yours lasts longer than mine did. My plywood started warping and delaminating after only 3 years. I had sealed both sides and the edges with marine varnish and then covered it with carpet like yours. I had it secured with screws every 8 inches, so I thought everything was weatherproof and I left it uncovered outside. Looking back I wish I had bought a cover for it, but the fact that they only last a few years themselves deterred me from it. Covers may cost a lot, but they're much cheaper than the labor and material you put into the boat. I'm negotiating with a metal working company on getting mine redone with sheet aluminum if the cost isn't too high. If it is I'll just buy a fiberglass boat and be done with it!

To anyone wanting to use PT wood in an Aluminum boat make sure you insulate it from the Aluminum. The chemicals in the wood will eventually eat holes in the boat. It would be best to completely seal the wood before final install.

Interesting. Obviously this plywood is "treated", but that's more so to prevent decay and termites, not so much chemical effects from metals. I've never heard of the process you're talking about but I don't see why it couldn't be the case. Thanks for the heads up!
