You are building such a beautiful home. It has such a warm inviting feel and it feels like it has been a home forever i love that. I absolutely love old utensils, i always imagine the kitchens they neen in over time and the different women that have used them.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear you say that. That is always my hope when designing our home and picking out decor. Me too! I always wonder who used it before me and what all they made.
I love that you used the “tool box” to hold silverware on the table. I have a similar one that was a gift from a friend. She told me it was originally a cutlery tray. But I have used it to store and display random things, as well as jars of silverware, like you. And, I love the big yellow ware bowl. The ones with the brown decoration are my favorite 😍
I love watching you in your home and seeing all the things you do. Thank you for sharing with us!! I can just picture you eating and entertaining in your new dining room and kitchen. They look so inviting and homey! ❤
Great finds!! The bowls are called Yelloware, sometimes listed as Yellow ware. The cross stitch tablecloth is definitely hand made. They came stamped with the design and I would say it's older because newer ones come on an ugly, bright white fabric. Love the chair!!
I love refrigerator dishes for leftovers. They are perfect and look better than plastic. Match holder for sure and would be cute for toothpicks. Homemade butter dish for that heavy bowl?? Beautiful bowls! I love the yellow. Great haul!
That is an amazing yellow ware bowl! It's big and early. Great to fill with decorative items, but please do not use it for food as the glaze is made with lead. The ones with brown & blue bands are later and may be okay for food, but do your research, just in case. I collect yellow ware bowls. I don't have one like yours. Yours has the tall "foot" at the bottom and thick rim. My oldest one is a small bowl with tall foot and thick rim and has two brown stripes with two white stripes in between. The ones made like yours are early. If it had only thin white stripes or a single thick white stripe, it would be very early. Congrats on your wonderful finds! 💙
Hi! I love all your beautiful treasures you found! I love finding new purposes for old things as well. 😊 Thank you for sharing. I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and have been binge watching and catching up. 😅 Blessings ~ Deirdre from Oklahoma ❤
What great finds/treasures…I to love using vintage items that I (we my husband) find…you are the second person I’ve watched that actually uses the yellow ware bowls…a RU-vidr I also watchJeri Landers, “Hapalong Hollow” she uses her yellow ware bowls also…I hav a collection of the blue stripe and brown…so now I’m using them too…the cutlery tray is what that is used for silver ware…at least that’s what I was told by my sister in-law…she’s a huge antique/garage sale gal…the chair and foot stool/ottoman you got is BEAUTIFUL and what a wonderful piece to have…I’m so glad I found your channel here…looking forward to your next one on your home, cooking and your WONDERFUL finds…✨😊
I have a question for you to?…What oil do you use for your wooden spoons?…your another person I have heard do this…I never thought about that…THANK YOU
Ok…so tiny confession but when I saw the title to this video I thought NO… I can’t watch. 😂 Nothing personal, but antiques are my jam and I have antiques all through our house and I love antiquing!! Problem is I don’t need anything else. Im going next week to get my Azure order and the town I go to is full of antique stores. But I gave into the temptation and watched your video and I’ll probably go look at antiques next week. 😂😂
Beautiful pieces to add to your lovely home! The yellow bowls you love to stack, can be protected by layering a tea towel( flour sack) dish rag in-between the bowls to buffer and keep from cracking further. Table looks so nice with a tablecloth and the new center caddy is perfect for silverware I think. How nice is that chair and foot stool! Wow and so generous of her! Happy anniversary 🎂! Loved the great finds!
Score - all beautiful vintage items. Agee - the chair is stunning, absolutely beautiful; and matching footstool. Will be so pretty in the bedroom. The smaller white bowl with stripe, restaurant ware. I have smaller ones I've collected through the years and use them often. I like them because they're sturdier. I really, really like the double recipe box. Good idea for the wood box silverware display. All great items that work well in your collected home!
You found some great things. I have one of those double recipe boxes that belonged to my mother and I know it’s over 50 years old. I love lace tablecloths and that one looks great on your table. Looks like a lot of work went into the cross stitch cloth. The way you are using that box on your table is how I’ve seen them used. Everything looks so pretty in your dining room. Love the yellow bowls.
It is my understanding that we should not use antique crockery or china that has any crazing or cracks, because lead was used in the clay and it could leach into the food. I love your style!
That's what I was here to add :) My daughter has this style of restaurant china and it is by Buffalo China - - but this isn't the only producer for sure. I believe hers, also a green stripe, is called Niagara (Buffalo China is from Buffalo NY and many of the names are "local"). Mine is also Buffalo China, I believe Windsor - a pink/red leaf pattern. Mine was purchased from a small local restaurant auction, and hers was from the Salvation Army thrift store (it had been their church's china). We also each pick up inexpensive pieces here and there. Her best find were some wide soup bowls in Sicily, Italy, when she and her husband and sons were there early in their marriage (3 years, Navy). It was a green to match her stripes but a floral; I think, Kenmore. My favorite of all time was a coffee cup with a lip on the bottom marked 1925. My daughter kept stealing it so eventually I gifted it to her. haha. All that to say: It is fun to keep your eye out for these heavy duty vintage pieces of china. Treasure hunting :)
The wooden holder was definitely a what they used to call "Kitchen" match holder. The cardboard box sides had the material they used for striking the match on to light the match and the open sides on the wooden box exposed that material for striking. I have a painted metal one. Years ago they sometimes called those bowls "oatmeal" bowls. Love it all!
Such great finds! I’m always on the hunt for some bowls. I lucked into a small serving bowl for $5 but the other bigger bowls I find the glazing has gone all sticky on them and they ask a fortune. So still on the hunt.
Thank you! That is such a good deal! It is so hard to find them in good condition anymore. When I do find them if they are cheap enough I always buy them. I hope you find some soon!
I really love how your dining room turned out. You're decorating it beautifully. I also love all things antique or vintage. I've struggled for over 20 yrs trying to find my style and this past year i have fell in love with all things old and leaning towards that cottage core decor. We live in a small home that once was just a cabin and we really want to keep that cabin feeling and I just love antiquing for our needs and giving it that cottage core feel. So happy i found a style i love.
Thank you so much! I totally understand that. I finally had to stop trying to find a “style” I like and just find pieces I like. I love getting to treasure hunt for new goodies for our home.
Hi.. new to your channel! I'm A lover & collector of all old antique, primitive and vintage things. I love going thrifting & antiqueing. Went and did A little antiquing today! I love linens with needle work, so sweet & always beautiful. I'm sure the tablecloth is handmade and a little older. The wooden caddy looks so nice holding the silverware & napkins. I have a couple of the antique tool boxes and they're much thicker wood, with straight sides and the handle only has one slot where all the fingers go thru to carry it by. The chair & stool is beautiful❤ The look of the upholstered back! I think you have a beautiful kitchen! I enjoyed and will stick around, I'll have to watch some more videos to see the rest of your home..i know its just as beautiful😊
Hi! 👋🏼 Me too, I love going antiquing any chance I get. Thank you so much! The rest of the house we are slowly renovating so the other rooms aren't so pretty yet but hopefully they will be in the years to come!
