I was looking for the value of my granny's lovely but rusty old pepper grinder when I came across this. I was mesmerised and forgot where I was and what I was doing! What a beautiful job!
Haha, yep! The nice fact is that I replaced my modern electrical mill with the little old one, because it looks and works better :-) I’ll give you a hint: that wasn’t the only glove mom did for dolly 🙂 Thank you Linda! 🙂❤️
As small as this is makes you wonder if it was a special purpose grinder, breakfast for one, or separate setting use. Just seems too small for a family table setting. Thanks for sharing this video with us and please keep them coming in. Nicely done sir, very nicely done indeed.
Youre definetely right, Paul! When i received the package, i was impressed by its small size! I had the same thoughts about a breakfast grinder, maybe just for the eggs or something :-) Thank you very much! I really appreciate!
I seem to recall elderly relatives who owned a set consisting of a very similar pepper grid and a salt grid. They sat in a metal tray to catch droppings. To grind you want to grasp the grind in your full hand like a fist and then crank. Very satisfying to use the set. Your restoration was excellent.
@@misterpatina I bet your followers will try to help find the salt grinder. Do you know for fact that the pepper grinder is from a set? There are stand alone pepper grinders.
"Essa restauração ficou perfeita",eu gosto muito de ver essas restaurações que é feito outras peças,fico aqui do outro lado da tela do meu smartphone no Brazil "admirando" o trabalho de vocês. Um forte abraço e como sempre desejando muito sucesso a todos.
Olá Anderson, muito obrigado pelas suas amáveis palavras. Você e muitas outras pessoas são a razão pela qual faço este trabalho. Um grande abraço da Alemanha!
Very, very nicely done! This one turned out great! I'd like to think of this grinder as a mobile room clearing apparatus of sorts - Feeling antisocial? Want people to get away from you and leave you alone? Briefly turn the other way, quickly grind up some pepper, huff it, let out a monumental sneeze or two and watch as the vacuum salesperson turns 'round and mach 5's it outta dodge. I feel like I just wrote a summary for an upcoming infomercial 😆
Another excellent restoration - thank you! But one question - did you replace the filler guard backwards? It looked like in the unrestored, it slid to the left to right to open which prevented accidentally opening in when you were using the grinder in a clockwise motion. The restored version looked to slide right to left to open. Was this intentional?
You, sir, got the eyes of an eagle :-) The brass plate, which slides, was in a bad condition on the upper side. The other side was in a way better condition, so I pressed out the very small handle and just flipped the brass plate, pressed the handle back on the good condition side and reassembled it that way, which changes the direction of opening and closing. These are just some small operations I don’t put in the video, because the video footage wasn’t that good. I hope you understand :) Thanks for your comment!
I have a pepper grinder exactly like that one. Fortunate it's not in as bad of shape as yours was before you restored it. Now I know how to fix it if it needs it. Thanks.
Very nice as per usual, man! Maybe it's untrue, but I heard a rumor that your gloved helper that appeared at 6:08 exclusively eats pepper. This seems like the perfect gift if that's true 😉 Long story short, if you need any other fantastic gifting ideas you know who to call!
Haha, really had to laugh at this one Bro! :D Yeah my little helper was very nervous over the whole restoration, because the lil bag of peppercorn stood in the shop all the time. At the end he ate all the pure, ungrinded corns, after he sorted them by color and size! Hes a weirdo, but very helpful :-)
Gruß Tino The mill turned out great! It was a good decision to redo the lid and clasp. Was there no ball as a bearing under the screw at 0:33? I saw that with a ball at a coffee grinder. Greetings Tino
Hey dude... I have come up in the comments section if your videos a fair bit and I would just like to say you are absolutely amazing. I would just like to ask where you buy/find these *amazing* things to restore? eBay, Garage sales? You inspired me to start my own channel and I think you show how good someone can be at something with limited tools (Edit) I as a machinist would like to point out that those parts you turned on the lathe have been hardened and so are sparking. That is bad for small machines and the best thing to do is to anneal the part to soften it
Hey Bro! Thank you so much for your kind words, i really appreciate! Most of the things i find on eBay oder eBay Kleinanzeigen (some sort of craigslist), on fleamarkets, or, in this case, from a subscriber :-) I'll definetely check out your channel! Thank you so much! Yeah, all my blades are unsharpened now, i learned a lot with this tool. But thanks for your tip :-)
I wouldn’t say he has limited tools. Far from it. Without all the expensive machine tools, sandblaster, welding equipment many of these these restorations would be impossible.
@@ex-scientia4234 You are right, but if you look at my mechinics for example, he has heat treating ovens, specialty bits, crazy collections of punches and dies, and all sorts of stuff people like us would only dream of.
