Usually see them on squirrel and rabbit right behind the shoulders...maybe a spot they can't scratch very easily. I hear old timers calling them "wooves". Only thing on this earth that gives me the jeeblies. Thanks for sharing that extra lesson with us!
Why the hooey did they discontinue this very spiffy design? Talk about a curiosity shop item... very interesting. And BTW, you have an infestation on your hands == Also, please watch an autopsy on these mice, after you see what is in them, you won't be handling a trap like this again without surgical gloves and respiratory protection. Parasites in their lungs and intestines as well as other parts. PLEASE be careful! Thanks for sharing.
Botfly larvae... Fucking hate those things! The Botfly sometimes even lays her eggs on humans and then the larva burrows under the skin and eats part of you while growing... Nasty little things
Only ever seen one in a domestic rabbit we caught in the wild. (guess someone released it thinking it would be able to survive in the wild.) It got lucky, we removed the larva and gave the rabbit to someone as a pet.
I saw one of those nasty ass boy flys on a chipmunk once. I didn't know what it was but I remember thinking that it looked gross. Like some alien growth on the back of its neck.
It's actually sorta good that 2/4 don't work since now the mice will be even less scared or even be waiting for the trap to be there again. They'll simply expect to be able to eat something and stick their heads through the holes again.
The modern snap traps kinda freak me out when I set them, I just don't trust them. But for some reason heavier duty mouse traps like this one of bear traps I'm fine with but little mouse traps I don't trust
Botfly will grow in human. The parent fly lands on trees and tall grass laying the eggs. Then when the egg gets on your skin it hatches into a microscopic worm that burrows into your skin and starts growing. There are vids on RU-vid off them being removed from humans.
I have one of these up in my cottage as a display thing it sits on the dresser up stairs lol its been there since I was a young kid always thought it was cool
My cat killed a rat in our yard some years back and when I went to get rid of it I noticed a big lump on it's side that was moving. Pushed on it with a stick and a bot fly maggot came popping out. First one I'd seen. Of course I squished it with that same stick before taking the rat and tossing it, but grossed me out. Glad my wife wasn't there to see it, she's more sensitive about such things than I am, and it grossed me right out.
OH GOSH! That bot fly!! I've never seen or heard of anything like that, yuck!! Great video though, I really like all of your posts, thanks for sharing!
