Everything old is new again! We stumble across a fun picker's mall in St. Louis, Missouri in this episode, where we discover great deals on cool vintage, find some true antiques that show how attitudes change with time and discover vintage ideas that should be revived for the benefit of future generations.
This place is huge, and varies from humdrum used goods to true quality old stuff, some at irresistibly low prices! A shell pink cake plate at $10, a bright yellow rotary phone at $15 and a bargain priced salad set in the original box go up to the counter as we pluck the deals out of the huge array of items in this vast vintage emporium.
Fabulous MCM glass, breweriana, local ephemera and a series of nymph prints from 1945 that we've never seen draw us through the many aisles of the mall. A Buffalo China plate that features actual buffalo gives us a glimpse into early conservation efforts, while a stack of stylish deco magazines from the 1930s offer lessons someone could easily apply as a teaching experience today! This place turns out to be much more educational than we thought!--although we wouldn't recommend using a certain "chip and dip" tray...
We end our visit with a lot of value at a very small price, and put this place on our list of malls to remember as we head west to our next antique show, the Rose City Vintage Market in Portland. Follow us across the country as we pick our way west!
