I loved your comment about thrift stores. The "thrift" stores in my area are definitely NOT thrift stores anymore. I understand vendors wanting to charge as much as they can, after all they are in business, but the word thrift needs to not be part of their store name. Thank you for another great video, George. I always enjoy shopping & learning from you! Take care! xo Edit- love your funny remarks, you keep it fun!!
You are a comedian at heart! I hear those sliding comments, and I love it! You bring laughter to the great adventure! I loved the location at the end for sure!
✨George it never ceases to amaze me how much variety of things have been created in our materialistic world ! The ingenuity of crafters & artist is incredible, Thankyou for your channel 🙏🏼👏🏼 I get so many ideas from things you show to make myself from the creators of our past 💖💫🇬🇧✌🏻
I'm a new subscriber & many thanks to Laura Caldwell from Leftcoastrevival for introducing your channel to her viewers. I love learning and you & Laura both are great at educating your RU-vid family. Hugs & blessings from Texas 💖🦋
You remarked about the dept. elevator. " Are You Being Served " popped in my head ! I thought of you the other day when Joslin ( Crazy Lamp Lady ) went to the Thrift store & got a couple of old hats. She said she didn't know which way one of them would go on your head. I thought you should have been there to show her. Both of them were pretty unique. Looks like you got some good deals to take with you. Have a Great time !
Yes , I remember being a little backward farm girl from eastern Oregon, going on a shopping excursion to the big metropolis of Boise. Escalators and elevators were so exiting! 💚💚💚
@@laraemitchell9064 I remember being so fascinated by the escalators. I was about 3yr when I learned Really Quickly that you best be on that 1st step when you grab that hand rail, If not your going to get yanked off your feet.
Another great video. Thanks for taking us to Downtown Nashville. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and giving us an education on the history and back story on so many of the things you show us. Lots of Love and Kindness.
@@laraemitchell9064 whatever.. I was washing dishes and listening to George.. not like TV. you know, like back in the day.. Thanks LaRae. You make a difference:)
I have a HUGE collection of the Corning Ware Cornflower Blue bakeware. I use it all the time. I even have the white eletric hot plate to cook on. Works fine.
Wow! Just found you thru the Crazy Lamp Lady. So glad I did. Usually I read the comments as I watch or something- I couldn't look away or I'd miss something with you! Love it! It hurts a little when all this stuff is vintage or antique - and I'm still using it lol! (ie: I've eaten off of Fire King dishes for 68 years, I use my grandmother's cast iron to cook and make pickles in her crocks. There's also knick knacks from my mother's service in Japan in the late 40s). Now to work backwards on your vids!
I think it's great you actually use your old stuff, that's why it exists! I bet your mom saw some great stuff in Japan, my Uncle and family were there during the occupation as well
3 weeks ago you were looking at, what you thought it was a walnut cracker (looked like a seed spreader) I think it swept up walnuts from the tree before mowing your lawn. 😉
I just found your channel "by accident." Loved following you around the stores in Nashville and listening to your commentary. You taught me something new about Indiana Glass Whitehall and Fostoria's American pattern.
In Tennessee! My parents lived in nowheresville middle TN. tucked away in small barns in rural homes and garages you would find all kinds of cool antiques for sale. Much love to Tennessee. I find the children's non profit thrift stores have better prices and I know most of the more wealthy donate to these places at least where I'm located.
omg! i had one of those poodle earring holders!!! i love seeing things that just make a memory hit you like BAM...thank you for that ..i was born in 72' so yep 70s make sense fo sure
Darn..wanted that full song...thanks for so much fun. Your narration is not beatable...and I love that Woodland Pfaltzcraft...a neat one to put together if possible..selling spares later spares for savings account....if flush enough. The vague vague memories out of blue like you did have that earring hanger.,,in some form..or a friend did,,,in some way, you saw it's friend. I had a brownie girlfriend to adults in same different city special friend go to seminary...that is a special thing. Yeah for your finds.
I love the Pfaltzgraff pattern with the bees and beehives. I guess because I'm a beekeeper. I have the bathroom set except for the tissue box cover which broke in shipping. 😔
Shiny Brite Doggo frequently go thrifting at Unique in the New Jersey/New York/Pennsylvania area. Their focus is vintage Halloween, Christmas and toys. They usually have quite good luck.
I consistently sell my vintage earring holders for $15 or $16, in my booth. They sell very quick also. Thank you for taking us with you! I appreciate your hard work. (seaside, Oregon)
You are so fortunate to live in Oregon. The pictures I have seen of your state are staggeringly beautiful. My dad had a friend who lived in Oregon, and we would receive Christmas cards from him at Christmas with clipped articles about Oregon tucked inside.
I never thought I would see a paint-by-number Jesus. That seems unique, lol. I am jealous you got to treasure-hunt in Nashville. The last time I was there, I drove through in a bit of a hurry on my way to Daytona Beach, Florida.
@@laraemitchell9064 Good question! I don't know if they are still considered a hot item. I do know that I like most of them. I only have a couple of them, but I have kept an eye out for the two my brother had on his wall growing up (the scenes were of a boy & his dog fishing).
Cornflower blue Pyrex - still using it. I even have a pie plate; it works like a charm. Railroad Ceramics - darnitt, you got me excited for a second. (repop darnitt!) The D&E you can almost tell what it is from the sound it made. I've heard that clink many a time; their bracelets sound different from anyone else's. The bowling ball vase ... good one. Weird, but good one.
Misty cross to the darkside...LMAO. I have been seeing that pink elephant everywhere. I had some bookends made of that wood. I am donating them to the thrift store near me. I have a crap ton of stuff...I tried to sell on Marketplace I will be donating soon. Love this video and seeing you on tik-tok
2nd comment- I wondered what your ties were to the Pacific Northwest, & now I know you grew up near Seattle:) I have lots of relatives who live in the Seattle & Tacoma area. I was born in Aberdeen, same hospital as Kurt Cobain (my claim to fame, ha ha!:) xo
Small, but good haul, George. Whew, y'all had to do a lot of roaming around Nashville to get it, tho! I've got some vintage stuff i'm stocking my booths in M'ville tomorrow. Be sure to stop by!
Always fun to tag along with you. If you don't mind me asking. Do you ever have time to keep up with your singing and music? Question from my son, he's a high school music teacher in Montreal, Canada.
@Maple Leaf, I visited Montreal when I was six years old, on summer vacation with my parents & brother. We lived in Northern Virginia at that time, so we were a long way from home. I am 56 years old now & would like to visit again in order to see what I don't remember.
@@twistoffate4791 Well come on back! Montreal is a very diverse and interesting city. My son went to McGill Uni. there and by the time he finished, Montreal was his home. Cheers from Canada!
@@Deborah4Antiques I wish your son every success & happiness in life, now that he's a college graduate & looking to make & leave his unique msrk on the world.
It was a great time shopping will you! That jewelry looks like the ones you looked at when you were with Crazy Lamp Lady at Rennenger's. Tell me if I spelled the mall right. lol
Hey George! I'm a bit late to this one...been some "interesting" storms here. I noticed what looked like some tumblers with pool balls on them, in the window. Did there happen to be a pitcher to go with those? Those two Lane pedestal tables gave me the idea of taking the top off one, stacking the pedestal bases and making a tall pedestal table. I know...I need smacked 😲😆 I liked those Moroccan-style windows. Those make really good pieces to repurpose. That 1910s vase, with what looked like Hiawatha on it, would've definitely come with me. I really liked that piece. Even with the hairline crack, for $20.00, I'd have had to bought it. That old radio tube tester really interested me. I have a small one that was my granddad's. Love that Adirondack frame you bought! That red Czech necklace is a nice one. The Czech jewelry pieces really tend to stand out from the rest, to me. Great video!!! Thanks for the take-along!!!
I liked the pool ball set but no pitcher. The tall pedestal table idea is great, I'm tall and low tables don't serve well! I did love the Hiawatha piece, I was tempted and if it were for me alone I'd have sprung. I like tube testers, we sold a dozen at a Portland, Oregon hoarder estate some time back. Thanks for coming along!
Do you recall the price of the Roseville tea set? So, I realize most resellers don't buy depression glass but I've looked forever for those Oyster and Pearl candleholder! Lol.
I'm so sorry I didn't get them for you! I meant to pick them up but then forgot when I finished filming. The Roseville sets run in the $250-300 range for that pattern/color
We have lost our long-time antique dealers, and then our antique mall moved down the interstate. Our old mall got transformed into businesses that failed, and finally, the entire mall was razed to the ground.
@@barbarapettry6817 Right? Our antique mall brought in more tourists than the replacement businesses. Whomever made that decision didn't think it all the way through. Now it's an empty lot. Who knows what the next "plan of action" is. All I know is that I miss having an antique mall in my own town.
Those Drexel pieces 3:00 are called campaign style. You guys are making me want to give up on thrift stores because in antique malls and the like there is a higher percentage of possible vintage scores than at thrift stores. In my small city Goodwill has started pricing a lot of their items at major city thrift store prices and I find it quite ridiculous. How I would love to see people completely buycotting thrift stores that have ridiculous prices so that maybe they would have the customer and donors in mind when pricing their inventory.
Half Mt, I know exactly what you mean. The Dearborn MI Goodwill is dirty and messy and waaaaaay overpriced on most things. Ex: a Dollar Tree bowl was marked $2.99, Oui yougurt glass cups $1.99 You get the picture....
