Hi Andrea ~ it is always a great treat to go Antiquing with you, even if nothing is bought, it is the thrill of seeing different things. Brings back memories of “yesteryear”. So glad you didn’t think about those “Castle Looking Wood Chairs “…the set of 4…. They looked so uncomfortable ! 😬😬😬😬. LOL!!! I call that style “ punishment chairs”… LOL !!! You have no choice BUT to sit straight up …..hehehe… Thank you for taking us ! A nice treat today ! God bless ! 🙏❄️🙏
Makes me so happy to see you and other young mothers carrying their babies. Not like the past years when baby went from car to house still in carrier. I think your way makes for a much happier baby.
Yes so beautiful!! I carried my daughter in a baby sling for her first three years - she never tolerated a stroller. It was a blessing. We are connected still, nearly 26 years later 💕 enjoy holding him close!
It’s wonderful that your husband shops with you!! That was a great antique store and your copper pan and skillet are good and practical finds. I saw about a dozen crocks, crock jugs and crock bottles I might have not been able to pass up. 😂. Thanks for taking us along!
A church pew bench would look great at your dining table and the painted bench would be great by your kitchen breakfast bar area, could put big crocks on it, adding round wood tops to crocks (hubby project for lids) and I store potatoes, onions, apples, or snack packs of pudding, candy bars, kits of cheese and crackers, mini packs of chips, pretzels, cookies, etc. inside the crocks, depending on seasons, so family can grab a snack and it is not shoved into back of cupboards or makes for messy, rummaged thru pantry shelves. I also put a backless long wood bench by my french door to back patio...that bench is so cute lined up with little crocks filled with small flowery house plants and a thriving windowsill style herb garden, all kept indoors. I have also seen where 3 kitchen chairs were made into a bench by using one piece of wood as the seat and all three chairs's seats were screwed from bottom of seats to the solid one piece of wood...then the bench was painted. (The middle chair had its legs removed and two full length wood support boards were run beneath all three chairs seats, securely screwed in, so to keep it all braced and sturdy. Just another "bench" idea...
Always like seeing the antique shop you go to. I am soon ready for a trip myself to look for special items for my home. Love seeing you carrying your sweet baby he's just adorable.
Andrea, this was fun! My husband also likes looking at the vintage toys, and we recently bought a G.I. Joe that he had as a boy. Thanks for sharing your trip!
I bought too much when I was working so when I retired I had to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. That was hard, so you are being very smart. Sometimes the fun is looking whether you buy or not, thanks for sharing, enjoyed it.
Oh my gosh, I am so jealous! I would have had no self control in there! I am glad you had fun and found a few treasures. It was so sweet that your husband held Isaiah so you could shop!
Oh my goodness. How fun! I don’t know if you saw that big wooden rocking horse? I was only able to see a glimpse of it, but I bet it was beautiful! So sweet to see you out having the best day! Love to all..
Thanks for taking us along w/ you. I love going antiquing too. Glad you guys had a fun time out together. I cook w/ cast iron too, and love copper as well in my kitchen.🤗
I went antiquing 2 days this week with my husband, and one of the things we bought was a number 4 Griswold cast iron pan . It's so much fun just to look at all the neat stuff in the shops.
It's always a bit of a bummer when I don't find what I'm looking for when I go antiquing. But I always have fun and feel inspired just by looking at things. It makes me happy either way!
Love going antique shopping we don’t have a lot where I live. I Was excited last week my husband and I went to an antique shop and found a duck. Ever since I saw yours on your wall I want to collect them 🤍
That was such a great antique store, i enjoyed seeing all great stuff in there, that old wooden garden cart was so cute id of wanted to take that home with me,and the cute wooden bird house with the chimney and wood kitchen wear , i too am looking for farmhouse dinning chairs to go with my table, ive been looking for quite a while but not managed to find any, 🙂 thanks for the tour round it was great ...
My husband and I went to a large antique mall yesterday… only found a couple things… haven’t found many treasures so far this year but we enjoy the hunt and will continue.?
I absolutely would have bought the cart and the birdhouse! I'd put the cart on my porch with plants and at Christmas I'd put my tree in it. Also, I collect birdhouses and would love to have the one you found in that thrift shop.
Did you buy the "Hulk" toy? I bet your boys would love that. So much fun to look around antique stores in a different country. Thank you for taking us on the trip with you. Glad you had fun!
I love that your hubby goes with you. And that he isn't just there along for the ride, but actually picks things up, and looks at the items. I melted when I saw the cast iron skillets. Living on the west coast, we pretty much only see Lodge skillets. Which are good skillets, but not as good as the old ones. You're lucky to live in a place where old ones are available. I don't know whether or not you grabbed any if the cast iron skillets or not as I had to stop watching. Just a little piece of advice, don't your phone so fast when you're panning. I stopped watching as it was making me dizzy. Watch other people's videos that thrift, etc, and see how smooth their pans are. Great video otherwise. I hope to see more videos of you and your hubby shopping together.
My husband I enjoy antiquing too but the one thing that bugs me a lot is how much some things are. Some people charge so much.I mean I know they are old items and they want to make money but also they are items. Why not make a little and let someone else enjoy. Rather than it sit in your booth for so long. I am sure you will find just the right chairs for your table. IN Michigan I know you have more antique places than we have here I think AZ. PA when we lived there had a ton also. Hope you had a fun time shopping with your hubby.
Hey Andrea! Looks like you and Mike were up in my neck of the woods. I was just in Americana Company Antiques in Bay City. Did you guys make it to The Antique Warehouse in Saginaw? There are also a couple of cute shops in Freeland and Frankenmuth. :)
When I was in my twenties my dad gave me a hoe Box of iron skillets and Some of the ones that you bake in the oven wear that are Triangle shape and that are Shape like corn And a bunch of skillets unfortunately I left them sitting on my porch and they got a little bit rust on them i No longer thought they were any good so put the whole box in garbage Now I'll say the value in them but I had a Dutch oven that I bought years ago at a yard set for $5 skillet for a dollar I still have the iron skillet it's a Wagner but the Dutch I took to the flea market sold it for 15 dollars but I have about 25 iron skillets now pick up most of these for a 2 to 3 dollars a yard sale I have a big I have all size now I don't use them at all just have them wish I Still had the ones that my dad gave me he has since passed But I do have some old blue antique jars that he gave me like 20 years ago
Hi Andrea, I’m in MI as well and I love antiquing! I love by some of the best but I get so burnt out between them and the same ones in OH! Can I ask where this particular store is located? I saw a couple things you scanned by that I HAVE TO HAVE if it’s not to far LOL
Andrea, Antique chairs can be a bit of a problem to use regularly, as the joints can give way. It may be helpful to find antique reproductions with age. If you share your email, I’ll be glad to forward some options which may give your an idea
