Hi Bridget, greetings from Germany. Was already getting worried your channel might have 'died', so I'm glad to see another video. Thanks for sharing your passion and insight into this wonderful field of interest! Since you're into horror, what's your view on South Korean horror, if you know any? Cheers
Hallo! Danke für deinen Kommentar. Channel's definitely not dead, I have several videos filmed and lots of future videos planned--it's just getting around to editing that really slows me down :( As for Korean horror films, honestly I've only seen a few. It's a whole subgenre I am interested in delving more deeply into, but haven't yet. Someday!
@@TheCuriousWorld Thanks for your reply, much appreciated! By the way, I saw some of your work on Atlas Obscura which ultimately led me to this channel that I've been following for some time. Your approach is as unusual as the subjects themselves, which I really like. There's so many similar channels but yours really stands out! So, please do keep your pace as I hate being 'bombarded' with content. Ever considered moving to Europe as for even older history right on your doorstep? Would be great to interact more. All the best. Jost
Hi, I really enjoy your book reviews. The best book I've ever read is "Undaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose. It is an amazing book about the true adventures of Lewis and Clark and their unbelievable expedition. These men kept meticulous journals and it made me feel like I was on the journey with them. It really made you feel like you were part of the late 16th and early 17th century. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Looking forward to your next videos. -- Steve
Have you read 'The Discovery of Slowness' by Sten Nadolny? It's an oldie but still relevant today IMO. I loved reading it, and it might just be up your alley!
I just googled it and I'm definitely going to add this to my list. I find the Franklin expedition really interesting and have done a lot of reading on it, but had not heard of this. It sounds great. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@TheCuriousWorld Hey Bridget, I'm glad I piqued your curiosity. Although the novel is not entirely historically accurate, it is the fictional part that I find particularly interesting. Please let me know what you think of it. Let's see what else I can dig out for you... Have fun!
Hi, guys, I've never read horror books, so I have a few questions. Is it scary to read them? I can imagine why horror movies might be scary, but how can books convey a sense of fear or a fearful atmosphere?
It depends on the book, and what you find scary. (And how good the author is at creating the right atmosphere!) But I have definitely been spooked by a book before :)
