Why does the American Antiques Roadshow estimate items at up to 5 times more than the British Antiques Roadshow?🤔

That's an interesting observation! 🤔 There could be several factors at play here. It's possible that differences in market demand, regional preferences, and cultural perceptions of value contribute to variations in estimated prices between the American and British Antiques Roadshows. Additionally, the expertise and opinions of the appraisers themselves may vary, leading to different valuations. Ultimately, the value of an item is subjective and can fluctuate based on many factors. Have you noticed any other differences between the American and British versions of the show?

@Antique_TreasureHunt .. only noticed the British one has older items and a mix from across the world, whereas the American one of course has more European and Native American antiques ...plus often they say on the British one that you'd achieve more money for certain items in an auction in the States due to its collectability there...

@Antique_TreasureHunt ... besides age of items, not much difference other than a lot of different collectables by country population....some items are more collectable in each respective country so achieve more where they are collected...

His name is Bert Lahr (pronounced "Lar", not Lair "like a lion's den)!

Thanks for the pronunciation tip! Bert Lahr's name might be a bit of a tongue twister, but hey, that's what makes it memorable, right?

That journal of slaves should have been at least 50 to 70 K. Oh well this was probably filmed ten years ago...

It's surprising how valuations can change over time, right? 💰📆 What do you think might have influenced the lower appraisal back then? 🤔📜 Despite the discrepancy, the historical significance of items like that is truly priceless! 🌟📚
