I had considered myself a progressive for decades but have not been able to do so for the last several months due to hateful rhetoric from far too many against Jews, in general. And, this division, is, as you say, bad for democracy. I don't know how we get past it right now, but efforts like this are clearly a positive step.

Atheists also tend to be on average more well-educated, left-leaning, and wealthier than the societies they inhabit, making them easy targets for faux populists as well as for old-school bigots. And it is shocking how in polls people are more likely to say that atheism should be disqualifying for the presidency more than any other religious affiliation. And claims of anti-atheist bigotry are often dismissed or downplayed by pointing to the admittedly horrific crimes of officially atheist states as justification for anti-atheist bigotry.

Jews should have a homeland, I believe that is fair. But they have it. I believe that Israel and Jews worldwide have a right to defend themselves against violence and injustices. But they, and any other people, should not have that by way of genocide. Oct 7th got worldwide media attention, but what was going on in Palestine before that has not gotten equal coverage. Yes. This was more upsetting than I thought it would be. The two women in this video completely deflected her questions regarding Palestinian rights probably because they could not agree on an issue that is actually anti-Semitic. They equate be Hamas bombings with anti-Semitism, not thinking anything of why that might have happened. Furthermore, the whole tone of this video is tone death. Imagine if we had conversations regarding anti-Americanism and acted like we were serious in the aftermath of the 9/11 bombings. Do you think that that would be at all appropriate or make sense? There's not even a mention of what's causing the conflict. It's just this really liberal notion - and I mean liberal in the sense of very whitewashed of the history of these people and just trying to sound PC - where it's very clear one group of people is targeted because they're Arab and the other group of people's using their own past trauma there's a group as a leverage to protect them doing what they get to do. You don’t get to restrict talk about anti-semitism to only the context of the current events. Anti-semitism is where the far-left and the far-right have met for lunch during my entire life. (I am 69) I witnessed anti-semitism that was mostly verbal but I saw a ‘From the River to the Sea’ sign at the Bernie Rally in Washington Square and photographed it. I heard the typical tropes at every Bernie rally I attended in NYC, and that was every one of them that occurred. (I’m 69). I do believe that you yourself, AOC, contributed to the weaponization of the situation with your own actions and statements on the current event. I can’t express how disappointed I was/am as a financial supporter of your campaigns for office. I’m not all that confident that you’re going to be successful in walking that back, but I appreciate the effort you are making to do so. So many groups that I have supported via the civil rights movement from when I was young up to today have rewarded my lifetime of dedication to ‘equality for all’ have betrayed my dedication and lifetime of efforts.
