Finally got some seat time in the new Jackson Antix 2.0. Huge differences from the original Antix 1.0- perhaps even unrecognizable. The most similar boat out there is the Dagger Axiom 8.0 and 8.5. Certainly interesting that they made the Antix 2.0 closer in feel to the Zen 3.0. Like the Z3, this new Antix has a wide stance, river running chines, and is shorter than you'd usually expect.
More to come!

The Antix does all the tricks, including stern squirts, stern squirts, and stern squirts.

Hahaha but it is SO fun! Also sadly the water is insanely low this year so not a ton of options.

First off- love your channel here on YT! Great reviews and great videos. On the Antix 2.0...I have paddled the axiom 8.5 extensively as I own one. I had the chance to demo the 2.0 Antix on the middle Ocoee this summer and I found the 2.0 to paddle vastly different than my axiom. The 2.0 I think is the sliceyest stern of all the half slice boats out there. I have to REALLY work to get my axiom to stern squirt in flatwater but the 2.0 is nearly as easy to stern squirt as my Loki is (ok, maybe not AS easy but certainly MUCH easier than my axiom or the original antix or the braap or rewind!). I found it to be a super sporty half slice with. great river running characteristics and a super fun half slice. perfect boat for instructing out of or support boating. Rewind is a much creeeker bow but I did love how much more rocker the 2.0 has over the axiom...made surfing it a blast. I've got a video of my 2.0 demo on my channel if you check it out. It is a great half slice!

Just a guess, but is your Axiom a 9.0? That would explain a lot of our varying experiences
@SouthernYak
@SouthernYak 4 года назад
@@AlexBarham Sorry- I should have specified...my axiom is the 8.5. The 9.0 Axiom is a HUGE boat and not playful whatsoever IMO. :) I think you are correct that the 2.0 and the axiom 8.5 are similar but I loved the increased rocker on the 2.0 bow which made surfing excellent and the stern on the 2.0 is much sliceyer than the axiom 8.5 in my opinion. The 2.0 is a huge improvement over the original antix.

oddly enough on the small I found moving the seat in the middle vs all the way back made the boat easier to get vertical. It also paddled completely different and gave it more speed and way more control and manuverability which is why I think it made it easier to get vertical.

Could be the case depending on your weight and style. Hannah is 140 and she floated the small perfectly. We found that it was a very nice river runner at center for her, but the tail was dry. Sneaking her back got the boat standing up much better.

Alex, love the reviews! I was wondering what boat you would recommend for self supported overnights?

Hey Alex, I found rolling the Large Antix 1.0 was difficult. How does the 2.0 roll compared to the 1.0 and large rewind? I have no issue rolling the rewind or ripper. Thanks!
@AlexBarham
@AlexBarham Год назад
The Antix 2 is narrower so if reaching up was your issue you should find it solved

Bottom actually still looks pretty fun at that level. What is it?

That's 1.9. About as low as it can get

If that was a demo, was it cool to rip the seat pad out as you did? Also, why did you rip the seat pad out? Felt like you were too high in the boat?
@AlexBarham
@AlexBarham 3 года назад
In this case it was because it is installed with auto clips so easy to remove and replace. The rep wound up taking it for a rip without the pad after to see what difference it made.

I was not comfortable and wanted more knee height so that was the instant/only solution. Same trick you'll see the team paddlers doing in the Nirvana

Not yet. Your best bet to see a review is asking them to send me a boat or otherwise get in touch.

For reference, did you paddle the large 2.0? (Or both?) And what are you weighing in at currently? Likewise, was your Rewind testing in a medium/large? I'm gearing out at 195lb, and don't imagine I'll have access to demos, so I've been more concerned about sizing in my half selection than hull design/outfitting/etc. I want something leaning more playful but worried that a medium ripper for example, being more narrow, might be too tippy.
@AlexBarham
@AlexBarham 4 года назад
I paddled both the M and the L. I will certainly cover all that in the review, but you'll be more of a river runner than an aggressive slicer if you go with the large.

Hey Todd...just got my Antix 2.0 Large the other day. My perspective is purely from a tall guy for what it matters. While I can't give you any M to L comparisons, I can tell you that I scoured the internets for the same answer. I had no way to try before I buy. My issue was more on height. I'm around 190lb suited up, but I'm 6'3" with a 34" inseam and size 11 shoes. I had an Antix 1 size large, but I could never get comfortable in the boat. With the low knee position, my legs always felt cramped and they would go numb in just a matter of minutes it seemed. At the same time, the A1 always felt big in the hips area for me. I added extra foam around the thighs so it didn't feel so loose. I ended up selling it recently, and got the 2.0 large. I couldn't be happier with the decision from a comfort standpoint. The narrower, higher knee position addressed my only complaint with the original...and it is perfect now! The way the bow tapers down on the 2.0, I think (and I'm just guessing) that my feet would feel too crammed in the medium. I came across a lot of guys in our weight range but under 6' that said the medium was great. With my 34" inseam, and the seat in the middle position, I had to trim the foam blocks in half.

@@maguasmadness5719 I think you responded to my comment on jackson's site. it's a tough decision to have to buy without being able to try or get a solid answer on the height issue, so i appreciate your comments. im 6'3" 195lb (200+ with gear) 34' inseam 13 US shoe (with drysuit booties). I would love to get a medium if i could fit for play, but hard to find that answer for sure. sounds like you don't think it would be a comfortable fit. thanks again.

@@deepcreekfooter That was me! Actually...you should contact Alec Voorhees from the Jackson whitewater team through Facebook...he's the one that really sealed the deal for me. He responded quickly, was ridiculously helpful, and could answer any question you throw at him. He's been in both sizes, he's our size, and he runs the large. Good luck!
