Bravissima!

Overwhwlmingly beautiful playing by the timpanist and English Horn player, and, a well deserved "thumbs up" 👍 from Maestro Gilbert to Claudia Strenkert after the treacherous and well-played Horn solo in Movement 4. Also, the Horn section has a remarkably balanced and even tone - excellent

When conductor has spend more energy on making the audience silent then on conducting the orchestra. Seriously - I understand end of 3rd movement can sound like the end when somebody hears that for first time... but to clap after 2nd movement?!
@NDRKlassik
@NDRKlassik 15 дней назад
Well, the job of a Chief Conductor is not to stop the audience from clapping, but to conduct the orchestra successfully... 🙂

@@NDRKlassik True - that was irony, I used. Now Irony off: there is a chunk of audience, that would like to hear the masterpiece without noise/interruptions of people who don't know how to behave. Clearly Conductor didn't like it neither. On the other side - great they have been able to keep silent after the last part - I really always love that silence :)

Ok, applauses are inappropriate, but why doesn't the conductor wait until they ends?

that's the best way to keep the pace of orchestra performance I think. I support what he did and it's also a good chance for the audience to learn how to behave.

--------------------------------------------------------------------- " ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Despite the applause at inappropriate times, this performance was outstanding! Maestro Gilbert is not German, but he conducted this as German: not rushing nor dragging, everything balanced. Do you pretend to record this performance for CD or Download? Because I want to acquire it.

Fabulous interpretation and clarity in every line, which we've come to expect from Maestro Alan Gilbert. The second movement almost had me in tears. Love love love the violin section's passion. Again, freshness to a classical warhorse that everyone's heard hundreds of times. And every single day in Japan, as many of you may know.
