Anton Smit has a remarkable artistic journey, his passion for sculpting began in 1976, winning acclaim in the South African Association of Arts' New Signatures competition in 1979. Since his first solo exhibition in 1980, Smit has captivated audiences with his abstract and figurative creations, culminating in international recognition with exhibitions in Rome, Milan, Spoletto, Singapore, and New York. His monumental impact extends to the inauguration of President Nelson Mandela in 1994 and the establishment of the Anton Smit Sculpture Park in 2003. Today, Smit's art continues to mesmerize, seamlessly integrating with both public and private spaces, embodying the essence of the human experience.Antons Smits new exhibition entitled “ Connect” opens to the public on Saturday 10 February 2024.
