fun fact: actually sonic canonically cannot die since his world is in virtual reality and sonic knows that he is trapped inside a video game since that is confirmed in sonic CD 1993 since if we leave for three minutes without doing anything in sonic cd sonic will get upset and go away and say im outta here and he is going to save his world himself without your help since canonically in reality if we are playing in a sonic game with the character of sonic or tails we are basically helping him save their world and in sonic CD there is an easter egg that with a code will show us an image of a classic tails obviously and with a jeep car next to it and with a see you in the next game in reality sonic and tails know that they are inside a video game but they can't die and they don't tell anyone so as not to put others in panic since canonically the other characters in the canon sonic games including Eggman and the human characters don't know that they can't die and are inside a video game forever
