Watch in HD!!!!! This is a drum cover of a song titled 'The Way The News Goes' by the band Periphery. Its one of my favorite songs off of their album 'Periphery III: Select Difficulty'.
I remember watching Matt Halpern perform this song live at the Meinl Drum Festival back in the summer of 2016. This was one of my favorite songs off of the album to begin with, but watching him play this song live was SO sick. I've wanted to do another Periphery cover for some time now, and I thought this song was appropriately challenging and fun to do.
Apologies in advance regarding any copyright situations. This video is most probably blocked in a lot of countries because of copyright laws.

I use Remo Emperor Clear's on tom batter heads, Remo Ambassador Clear's on tom resonant heads, a Powerstroke 3 on the kick batter, a Coated Controlled Sound for the snare batter, and a Clear Emperor Hazy for the snare resonant.

Matt halperns really been putting in the effort to switch up how play style. I mean seriously I would have never though to play a blast beat over that cute ass chorus. But it worked so well. Great cover too, really suits your play style

1:57 you play that part exactly how Matt plays it live. Those are obviously triplets with the double kick on the album! Except you play the fast double kick part at actual speed. Matt cheats and uses the floor tom live lol.

Sorry to be pedantic, (and I know what you mean, and you are correct) but they aren't triplets. Technically, they're two 32nd-notes plus one 16th-note. Still a group of three notes, but not triplets.

Brandon Drums tune the snare batter to a C# or so, maybe a little higher for this song, tune the snare reso to a high A above that C#, hit really hard, compress with a slow(ish) attack and a medium(ish) release, blend parallel compression, room sound, and reverb to taste.
