Support Legit.ng via the link: corp.legit.ng/... Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi (Telu) 1 is a monarch on a mission. He wants to eradicate the worship of Orisa (lesser gods) from Yoruba land. According to him, worship of gods such as Sango, Ogun, Yemoja etc is not Yoruba culture and in fact, they are the reason the Yoruba race is not progressing. He tells Abisola Alawode that kings are not deputies to these gods; instead, they have power over them. And that any king still worshipping orisha does not know what they are doing.

This is colonial mentality for you at its best. And it’s primary objective is to totally discredit and abandon what your Ancestors have established. And then tricked you to embrace that of the colonial ones. The Chinese, the Indians and many others have their own religions and never replaced them with the religions of the Arabs and Europeans. This Oluwo has missed road and he wants you to be his follower. He’s been cursed by our Ancestors. A Yoruba person must be upset over this Oluwo’s misfiring.

It is a lie, oluwo is on the track, all so call idols what did they serve when they were alive? Which idol did ogun worship tell me or Sango or obatala, this so call idol of a thing is bringing set back to those that serve them because god is so jealous, see oluwo will live long on the throne

@@seunafuwape4817 Can you tell me which are the dominant religions in Nigeria today? The foreign religions of Christianity and Islam? Is that correct? So, tell me why are you now blaming our traditional religions for all the shortcomings and the evil that are being perpetrated in Nigeria today? In the days of our ancestors, I mean the days when our forefathers were practicing their religions, way before the aforementioned religions were brought to them, the Yorubas were enjoying high qualities standards of living. The religions would not allow indiscipline to flourish so people obey the rules and regulations of the land. The leaders would dare not embezzle the public funds etc. Can you say the same today? Your Alfa, Pastors, Bishop etc cannot be trusted on anything. They are all after ripping people off. Considering this, you’re still holding the Ifa, Obatala etc. responsible for a screwed up country. Aren’t you for real insane? Then some criminals came from foreign lands and handed over to you some religions in exchange for their economic benefits / empowerment and then called your own forefathers’s religions some idol worshiping. God Himself will arise in His anger to whip your A$$ for accepting such narratives. Olodumare will triple your punishment for making such a dumb, illicit and derogatory statement about the true religions ordained by the Almighty and for you failing to say the truth.

You know this guy is empty headed. He is talking about Olodumare and at the same time despising the Orisas. Your madness has just started. It show you don't understand yoruba. Orisa (Ori-head or destiny; Sa-chosen) mean the Chosen Ones that were privileged to fulfill their destiny. Traditionalists don't worship Orisas but venerate them. To the Yorubas, Olodumare is supreme, and they even say that ypur individual Ori is greater than any Orisa. And Ori is the Olodumare in us. The Orisas left us with knowledge but we didn't do enough with it. It's obvious he has limited knowledge. Orunmila left us with the first knowledge of binary codes in IFA but what did we do with it? The white man used the same knowledge to develop the computer. Because of the mobile phone you want to die for, our people in Congo are been oppressed for coltan resource. Go get brain. It's obvious Ifa didn't select you. Where did he get his history from? So, he want to fight the Orisas. It is the government that took your power, not the Orisas. Where did he get his history from? It is the government that took your power, not the Orisas. You are probably using your mobile phone to watch porn. That's why your life is boring without it.

*Odua didn't bring Obaship to Ile-Ife,...there was already OBAtala and co before his arrival *All Yorubas are not offsprings of Odua, people were already living in Ife people he arrived. When the Yoruba say 'Odua is our father', the father is not in the biological sense; you have to look at the context, and the culture of the people...when a woman calls a child 'my child how are you', it doesn't necessarily mean that she's the biological mother in African setting; same goes for someone that calls someone else father. 'Our father' or 'our mother' can be used to connote leadership or a leader in an African setting. Omo Odua niwa or Odua ni Baba wa simply means we recognise Odua as our leader. *Odua didn't conquer Ife, he was welcomed because the people already knew he was coming as they were informed by the Oracle. There were Ife leaders (1 or 2) that didn't agree to his stay, and they left Ife to sojourn somewhere else; one of them is Obagbo in present Ondo State. Majority wanted Odua in Ife, so majority carried the day. It was not a conquest thing... *In Yoruba Concept of God, there is only one God (Olorun Olodumare), there are nothing like small gods. Orisas are not any form of deity or god, they are orisas. The ONLY God is Olorun Olodumare. Anyone can call himself and can become an Orisa, the Orisas in Yoruba are/were people with special gifs and abilities whom people feel they can still tap from their special potentials even after they are long gone by giving them what used to be their favourite meal (bọ=to feed, is different from isin or jọsin= to worship) when they were alive; they bọ orisa (bọ means to feed, not the same with sìn or jọ́sìn=to worship). To worship God Olodumare, Yorubas will jọsin or sìn or ṣèsìn fun Olodumare. People often confuse bọ (to feed, to feed with) with sìn or jọ́sìn or ìsìn (to worship). Jesus, Mohammed, Ibrahim,...are not God but people pray through them; it's the same idea that applies to bibọ Oriṣa in Yoruba, those Orisas were Yoruba Heroes and Heroines at a time in Yoruba History just as Jesus, Mohammed and co are some people's Heroes and they are respected and revered till tomorrow; Yoruba equivalent of this are the people we refer to as Oriṣa. THE ONLY GOD IN YORUBA IS OLORUN OLODUMARE, and there's nothing like small or big gods. *The problem with the King is he's misinformed on Yoruba belief systems, and he's viewing Yoruba beliefs with the lense of Abrahamic religions running with the wrong meanings they gave it (Yoruba belief system). *If we can revere other peoples ancestors/heroes/heroine (Abraham/Ibrahim, Mohammed, Jesus, Isaac, Jacob,...) I see no reason why we shouldn't revere our own ancestors/heroes/heroine. *'Igba keji Osa', does not mean 'deputy to the gods'. Leaders are reping God on Earth since God can not come down Himself to govern physically so He delegated... In which case Obas should be called 'Igba keji Olodumare' (God's Vice/Deputy) or 'Aṣoju Olodumare (God's ambassador/rep), in which case The Ooni that is usually referred to as Oniriṣa (not Igba keji Orisa) would have been Olodumare (God) himself. You know how well cultured and respectful the Yorubas are, how can a human call himself Deputy of God or God himself? Since any great human can become an Oriṣa it is better to call Obas Oriṣa as we have with The Ooni or Igbakeji Oriṣa as we have with the other Obas... The igbakeji Oriṣa or simply Oriṣa (as with The Ooni) is just eulogy; it's however better than calling them God or Deputy God as though God is their mate.... *I stand to be corrected...

Your comment reflect your poor sense of Yoruba cosmology. First thing is that those Orisas you mentioned are also Irunmole (divinities). Orisas were humans that fulfilled their destinies and their descendants venerate them. Then there are those who are Irunmole abd Orisas, who are those Olodumare sent to make earth habitable for humans. An Irunmole is automatically an Orisas abd there are only 16 of them. While not all Orisas are Irunmole because they were humans only and are never worshipped. Most of you lack knowledge of yoruba tradition. This king is a yahoo Oba.

We pray to them and appease them so that they can take our offerings to god and in return revive whatever blessings god has for us through them. Orisa has no translation in English this is why it’s hard to understand you won’t understand with a English/ western mindset. The same way you will not tell Christian’s their god might as well be called olodumare or Allah you cannot tell ifa orisa has to be called idol because it’s false and there is no translation, orisa is orisa

He is right. The Orishas do not need to be worshipped because we are at the peak of the pyramid. All all the creatures born from the alignment of the elements, we are the brightest of them all, living on earth, breathing and enjoying the best provided by the Orishas. Therefore we should live full lives, live and create things humanity needs and immortalized as Gods ourselves. The Orishas serve, they willingly serve for you to be the greatest you can be.

Orisas are the problems of all black Africa. Our fathers and mothers were taken as slaves to Oyinbo land. are the Orisas sleeping then? Let us agree that they don't have the power to fight the Oyinbo gods. Let us wake up. our idol always requested human beings as sacrifices. If Oyinbo's idol is Jesus Christ, why are we not embracing Him?. Jesus Christ says that all power in the world, sea and heaven belongs to Him. Matthew 28:18.

Well said. Apart from taking many of our forefathers into slavery , didn't they also carried many deities, idols with them into their museums? Laughable! The idols couldn't complain.

Lost people. You were taken as slaves because your ancestors were evil to one another. Orunmila warned them against internal slavery when he said "Eru ku si ile, e sin si oko. Omo ku si oko, e sin ile. Tani o mo pe bi ase bi omo la bi eru. Meaning "a slave died in the house, you went to bury him in the forest. A free-born died in the forest, you went to bury him inside the house. Who doesn't know that a slave and free-born are given birth to the same way. 99% of yoruba cannot practice the tradition because it requires high level of purity and responsibility. So, that's why people prefer religions that promise them grace abd opportunities to keep on sinning. In yoruba tradition, you get paid for your sin by Esu. You can't escape it either in this life or future lives. Don't let this empty headed king mislead you. Because he talk smoothly doesn't mean he's talking sense. Orunmila stopped human sacrifice a long time ago and it's unacceptable. It's the evil people that take advantage of people stupidity. There was order and peace in the days of our ancestors. What has foreign religions and western system done for us?

In a Sense somehow your analysis is about right . However , Traditional Heritage is defined as a historic uniqueness in the general way of promoting ancestral integrity as came about. In other words do it in Compliance with the Principles as laid down by the Ancestors . No addition or subtraction is needed in this regard . Deities and traditional heritage are the duo heterogeneous to some degree . The former is about Culture and that links you to Religion. Oosa means God . Hence in the Past our forefathers were used to saying baba oosa , baba Alakaye , Baba giri ojo ku . That was the way they were used to alluding to God while conducting Prayer in the Past . So , Oosa simply means God . JESUS says give Ceacer what is Ceacer's and give God what is God's . May be he has forgotten that he is a traditional Oba . As a traditonal Oba you must be ordained with Ewe akoko which is very often used by the Secret CUIT in the Ordination Exercise . The Architect of Palace is a Secret Cult with the enthronement Chair inclusive . He can be on the Saddle and do the will of God and in the same token give Ceacer what is Ceacer's without Conflict of interest . Checks and balances are what is needed and not to engage in rewriting a meaningless history . I must say though he is somewhat intelligent and smart .Oba's PALACE calls for more

King with a rightful thought, great king, i believe the current situation of Africa is as a result of small small gods that our fathers worshiped and handed over to us and we are still worshiping them till now, they're sucking innocent blood till now. We sacrifice our wifes, children to them to appease them. What a shame!! God bless u my King.

You are all messed up in your heads. Your number one problem is poor understanding of yoruba. What does the word Orisa mean? If you don't understand that you cannot comment on this. No traditionalist worship Orisa. Jesus Christ for example is an Orisa because he lived among men and fulfilled his destiny and you can use his name to pray. They know Olodumare more than your pastors and imams. This king is a lost soul. A king that chase 16yr old girls around his town cannot be taken serious.
