Works like a charm. Watching other how-to videos, they use other weird convoluted procedures... I went four months unable to figure it out. Your method is simple, requiring only a few minutes of patience. Thanks!
After watching several videos ans the programming not working, came across yours that mentions to keep trying until the right code is found b/c that was the problem I was having. Thanks for providing thorough instructions!
**IMPORTANT NOTE** when you hold the channel- button DOWN, the remote cycles through the codes so fast, that when your TV shuts off (and you release the channel- button), the remote may have already moved on to the next code and won't power off your TV. You MUST THEN back up to the previous code using the channel+/- button. THEN you should be on the correct code to shut off your TV.
YOU ARE THE MF GOAT!!!!!!! This video is so helpful but I kept having problems because I was holding the button to long. I didn’t even realize until your comment I could be passing the code. Thank you so much!
Using the down arrow, I could get the tv to shut off (after 10 mins or so) but it was always the wrong code so it would not come back on. So I tried the up arrow and it took one second. So try that if it’s taking to long or just not hitting the right code. Thanks for the instructions!
Thanks, this worked for me. I had to keep turning on the TV with the TV remote as after the TV turned off it would not power back on. Until a bunch of tries continuing to push the CH down button but eventually it worked. This was very easy.
This actually WORKS! I just programmed my Vizio using this video. It did take a few minutes and different tries after turning off because of wrong code, but it's working just fine now. Thanks for sharing!
@@tattoon90 hello, I didn't use any code. Just follow the directions in the video. The remote will find the code for you if you follow the directions. Hopefully, this helps!
The instruction sheet (ten pages or so is as useless as teats on a bull. It says ' From the accompanying list" and I have no such creature in this package. Glad I found you. Right now am using an old one I forgot I even had. 2 new batteries and it is just fine.
Took one try to program my remote and it only took a few seconds. Thanks so much!! So helpful! Your instructions is what should be on the back of the remote!
Much Mahalo! Easy breezy! I tried to enter the remote serial number on Spectrums website and got nothing. It's incredible how incompetent big company websites are. Simple youtube search and viola! Again, thanks so much and... 🌸 Aloha...from Hawaii 🤙 🌴
It worked for me as far as the Spectrum remote now turns the TV on and off, but it won't work on channels or volume. Should i keep trying with more "down channeling?" Thanks.
Worked on my Roku too! Incidentally it only works for the power button on mine though. The other buttons light up the cable part and don't do anything. How'd yours work out? (if you don't mind me asking)
Thanks man my mom's new TV stopped working and she had to resort to an older model and I had no clue about a remote for it 😂 and the older model the power button was removedso there really was no way to turn it off once you got it turned back on and getting it turned back on to begin with was a pain in the butt so you seriously saved a lot of trouble thank you very much
Glad I found this so quickly. My grandma found an old spectrum remote that she was going to give away. But is there any way I can make the remote NOT try and use the cable box? For example, when I click the video source button, it opens it on my tv. But when I try to use the arrow keys to scroll through my sources, it tries to go through the cable box (which we don't even have). It seems that almost every button tries to go through the cable box.
I have a question for you. i have a Dish 54.0 tv remote with no DISH receiver is there a way to pair it just to my TV without the Dish Joey reciever? Thankyou
Thank You SIR!!! dude, you rock! fyi it took me a painful 4 tries before it worked, but when it did, i was VERY pleased! ps. your explanation was 100% spot on!
This was VERY helpful for me! I lost my livingroom remote so I went to use my bedroom remote and had to program it to the Livingroom TV. The instructions on back of remote say "press CH+ until device turns off" so I was legit holding the actual + button above CH for hours xD I didn't know it meant the actual channel up and down button..... So thank you very much for helping me solve my (admittedly dumb) problem!
Do you know if you can pair remote to TCL/Roku tv without the actual receiver? On one of my TVs I have the Spectrum app so I didn’t need the receiver, but I hate the little Roku remote, and have an extra Spectrum remote that I’m trying to program as I did with my master bedroom remote (that one has receiver though)
Also if you happen to turn your TV off and it skips past your code you can just reverse on the channel button until it turns off. I'm just saying instead of going all the way through the list you just might need to back up one push of the button
If you have ROKU device connected to your TV through one of the HDMI ports (inputs), try pressing on the "Video Source" button on the bottom of the remote. From there you can choose your regular cable TV.
YourSelf Thank you for your helpful and prompt reply. I managed to find the right code to turn the tv on and off. Unfortunately, the Video Source button didn’t do anything. Do you have any other suggestions?
The Video Source is the only button that cycles inputs between Cable TV, Antenna, ROKU, and other devices. Maybe the code for your TV didn't exactly match, so it doesn't fully work. What is your brand TV, maybe I can find the right code?
