the fact sonny stayed around until you got better farther proves cats are smarter that we think they are. mine didnt go until my mother held her and said its ok to go. she passed moments after she said that. but sonny will always be with ya man. as long as you remember him he lives on with you.
Our cats are a chapter in our lives, but to them we are their entire novel. He definitely helped you through your struggles of all these PB's, and you helped him through the times he needed you the most. Happiness is all that is needed to be had on this planet from both sides, and in his afterlife world. Congratulations as we always say, and don't ever give up. We as a community love you as a brother and nothing can change that.
Congrats on the -15 man! I know how hard losing a loved one can be, my father passed a few years ago. When I was little, we had BfBB on the PS2, and he loved it. 100% it God only knows how many times. I found your history videos and the 100% walkthrough you did with TomatoAnus not too long after his passing, and Rehydrated came out around the same time. Watching your speedruns and playing the remake has, for me at least, felt like keeping a part of him, a part of our connection, alive. Sonny may be gone, but he'll always be a part of your journey, both with this game and in the rest of life.

BFBB was my childhood and Goresh became my favorite legends youtuber when I started the game. I remember watching Shifts speedruns back when he was doing sub 50 runs and now he's shaved almost 10 minutes which is so impressive. It's funny to see others enjoy similar games 😂

I wanna say first that I've never tuned in before and this is my first time seeing you speedrun, period, and on one of the games that I grew up with as a kid (if on Gamecube). Your run was really stellar to watch and above all else the love you showed for your cat, and him you, shone through the entire time, pushing you onward. Really amazing to see you nail this amazing record, for an amazing game and everything. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Shift, please take your time and take as much of a breather as you think you need/can handle. There are many many many many many people amongst your fanbase who have all lost someone dearest to them. I have. More than once too. Just know that with that level of empathy you have shows how caring you were for him. And surely, if animals could talk, he’s thanking you for the life you’ve given him and he loves you. Again, please take the necessary steps to overcoming grief and you’re gonna be okay. And remember, you are a content creator aspiring others.

Hey man idk if you’re gonna be reading this but my guinea pig passed recently too. It was on the 27th of January. She was 10, but she was lethargic for years before. Most people consider ‘senior’ to be 4 years old for them. Tbh from what I’ve seen they go at each other when they live together, I’ve seen hairless ones at the store with a bunch of scars so she didn’t go thru that but I knew it was coming for such a long time. She had a distended stomach and on the last night she tried to yelp to get my attention and it was just air. I gave her a bath and held her so she was warm while she dried. I asked her if it was about time and she knew, she didn’t even drink water after that. I found her on her side gasping the next morning so that’s when I put her down. I felt responsible for her tragically long life even though everyone always said “oh you take good care of her, look how old she got to be” but I think about the years of isolation just staring at the empty living room while I was at work and then just the back of my head when I was doing whatever stupid shit, I regret not taking her out more, if I could go back I’d let her shit and piss in my lap if it meant just a little more time with her. All I’m saying is we can’t choose the time our loved ones leave. Sometimes it looks early, sometimes very late, but the reality is that no one chooses their time, we’re all kept around until our jobs are done.

I found you through the passing of Sonny, I haven’t been there to witness his enlightenment or your streams, but what I can say is I felt your pain, that entire run, focusing on what you was focusing on. With that said, stay strong, keep on grinding and keep on smashing your limits. Sonny is in my heart too now. This run is for him 🫡

RIP Sonny & GG really happy that you got this milestone. I think you said the timing of this run and Sonny had something to do with eachother, like loss being so draining that it takes you out of what was previously bothering you. I remember when my cat passed a few years ago I wanted to be distracted by anything.

a lot of people see all these glitches and think that the game is super broken, but really it just shows me how polished it really is, especially for a licensed game. all the extreme setups required to actually make these glitches work to your advantage, the manipulation of code, the fact that it's STILL at least 80% skill. this game is so well put together.
I haven't tuned to the stream in a minute but the GOAT of BFBB does it again, congratz King, one day we will witness a 40, I know if Sonny was here he would be proud.
To add on I want to say I understand how it feels. I had lost my dog of 13 years only half a year ago. I always would see him in the morning next to my door. He developed nerve problems that prevented his back legs from functioning for an entire year till his passing, so my family and I were always by his side to help him with everything. He was given an approximate of 3 months of living, yet he was able to live for much longer. We thought it was impossible for him to regain his leg functionality, but through many sessions of water therapy, his legs was moving and he swam and played fetch in the pool like any other dog. He was a fighter to say the least. 2 weeks before his passing I was out of town while he was staying with my parents. Once I heard the news that he was ill I went home to see him one last time before on making the decision to put him down, but the night I returned he passed away. In my mind, I feel like he was waiting to see me before he went and he ended up dying to a disease unrelated to his mobility problems that we were told he was gonna suffer from, he was a fighter to say the least. Sorry for that whole thing, but I want to say that I don't know how Sonny did it, but he fought to stay with you as long as he did for a reason. Perhaps he was waiting to see that you felt better with your sickness. Sonny will always be a part of you. SONNY FOREVER!
Weird that I’m watching this right after my childhood cat had to be put down yesterday. He was on the decline for awhile and made it to 16, but that was my lil buddy for all my life. Just sucks man
