Tumblr: / martinicup Instagram: / martinicup Got my sketchbook a while back. If you're wondering, the things that are covered are my super personal stuff! Also, sorry if I flip too fast.
Arnt you noticing that calarts is accepting lots of people with the same artstyle Calarts is accpeting people with this disney x manga artsyle while here in Europe it seems artschools have a way wider variety in different styles
Im not saying in anyway that these drawings are bad Or that your artstyle isnt valid Its just something i noticed And i wish people could experiment more with their style
YoshTea That style is usually what is depicted in media these days. Isn’t the sketch book for the character animation degree? That would mean they want artists who’s style can lead into animation and they can get a job when they finish. That style is depicted a lot because it’s easy to animate!!
HAHAH I actually didn't live anywhere near that area, it was actually a coincidence that I went there! I was visiting LA and that event was happening the next day so I was like OH MAN GOTTA GO TO IT hahah
Interesting development and trials. Drawing and painting costumes made me smile. You literally varnished your skill. My favorite was the inside of the car sketch. 👌🏻 Bravo my dear. Wish you the best. 👋🏻🌸🍃 No apology was necessary for flipping too fast, dear.. we can pause.. I did several times. Just noticed this was uploaded back in 2017. Where’re you now? Have you become a professional in Art? 🤞🏼
I been doing my sketchbook to apply to calarts and honestly its super stressful because idk what to put inside most of the time and im not sure if im good enough for them. Do you have any tips or advice to help me finish my sketchbook faster? im a senior in high school right now who will be applying in about 3-4months?
@@spareaccount1445 Hi there! I ended up attending School of Visual Arts in 2018. As of now, I have decided to not continue my education there but the two years I spent there were truly memorable and I learned lots, even though it cost me an arm and a leg to attend.
@@MisturMonster wow thanks for the update, congratulations on getting accepted into SVA! I’m in the position you were 3 years ago aha. Whatever you’re doing now I hope you’re doing well :)
Your artworks are amazing! Congrats on your achievement!XD If you don't mind me asking, did you draw your life drawings with your pens from get-go or did you first sketch them with pencil and trace the lines with pen afterwards? They look super clean and neat! Also could you tell me what kind of pens you used for them? >
몽 몽 It's most likely from the pen on the get go. Sometimes you can cheat and sketch it out, then use pen, but it usually comes out stiff and not fluid. Calarts usually wants to see if you can draw from life without sketching it out.
임예지 for your sketchbook they encourage you to draw things that inspire you (it can be from films or really whatever you want). However, the sketchbook isnt part of the ‘portfolio’. The sketchbook is its own thing, and then you send in a portfolio of original work.
Thank you so much man!! : ^ )The first sketchbook is a pentalic sketchbook! A lot of people seem to use it cause its relatively cheaper than some other sketchbooks and it also can semi handle a lot of different kinds of mediums! The second sketchbook I got from a flea market of a sort haha. The lady made the books out of old children's books she had.
I've been drawing since forever but I wasn't serious till junior year of high school. I crank out sketchbooks every 2-3 months now as a practice to keep drawing which is why I submitted two. This is my second year applying to calarts so I didn't actually start drawing in sketchbooks regularly till last year when I first applied ( I took like 4-5 months to finish a sketchbook back in those days haha)
amazing! i also drew a lot as a kid and i just decided to get serious and do sketchbooks junior year too! i better keep practicing to become as good as you thank you for replying
Hi!! I loOoveee your sketchbook and I know you get this a lot but I was wondering,, if you're just a beginner, deciding to just be serious with their art ,,, where do you start? personally, I can't draw faces/heads/anatomy/heck.. even clothes for shit. is it okay if you could give me some advice? I really want to get in Calarts one day, I'm willing to crawl towards it if I have to. Also, congratulations on the acceptance!! did you get in character animation? :D
hmmm.... I guess taking art classes in high school made it easier to work on art/ be motivated by friends and such. I didn't use any work from school in my portfolio tho haha (it wasnt good enough) but I did more personal/ creative work to start since its easier. Later I began doing more observational work but I didn't start getting better with till this year. I would say you should use and bring a sketchbook with you at all times! It really helps if you draw on a daily/ draw people when your out. It really improves your art and gets you into the practice. So yup just DRAW DRAW DRAW!!! Push yourself! Get out of your comfort zone! And yup I got into chara animation :^) sketchbooks are only needed for character animation apps i think.
I improved by being inspired by friends, family, famous artist that I admire. All these different factors shaped my interest and style. Draw things you like cause your art shows how interested you were with it. Also try new things and explore. But really, the way to improve is to just practice and get advice or reviews from others. Have fun with drawing and be dedicated with story or projects! Not sure if this is the best advice but i hope it helps! if you want to ask more questions/ advice just hit me up on instagram's pm :^)
@@samaelameer hi, yes I understand what you saying, but, as an artist, I know what is reading a comment like this, is so frustrating, and the person could be more specific in the reason that this sketchbook couldn't be accepted.
Martinicup Haha I'm only kidding. Your work is simply amazing though. Great art style. So when you send an online portfolio to calarts how does that work? Do you just show them your deviantart or something like that? "Sorry if I sound dumb" 😅
HAHA i know you were joking I just kidding too! Also thank you man!!! When you send your portfolio you have to do it through a site called slideroom. Calarts has all this info about their application process on their website if you're ever curious too!
