Extremely helpful and a wonderful edit. Would like to see and learn more editing such as this only with portraits and have the image jump off the screen as above. Use LRc and Luminar Neo and a little Photo Shop. Very little. Thank you for all the knowledge and help you have extended to us,

Very useful tutorial Chris, thank you. I've not long switched from GIMP to Affinity and I'm still finding my way around that so it might take a while to find some of the equivalent tools that you use here, but that's half the fun of learning something new, right?! You said with this image you intentionally exposed for the sky so you didn't lose the detail in it, so I'm assuming lifting shadows gets better results than trying to turn down a blown out sky. Is that right? Or are their times you would sacrifice the sky in order to correctly expose for the foreground?

In Affinity, the Dehaze tool is known as "Haze," and it's a filter. Check the Filter menu to find it. No detail in a sky ruins an image more so than no detail in the foreground. The dramatic sky pulls you in. There's less detail in the subject/foreground due to underexposing. However, I'm o.k. with that since I'm not as interested in grass/weeds, rocks, etc. If I had time, I would have bracketed for both the sky and foreground. It's the best of both worlds. However, I probably would have edited the same and lost detail in the shadows to emphasize the sky/highlights. In extreme High Dynamic range images, I bracket 3 - 5 exposures. This is the case in places where there's a huge valley/gorge; Grand Canyon, Letchworth or in dark places like Antelope Canyon. In those locations, exposing just for the sky means you'll lose the majority of shadow detail after "fixing."

Hi Chris, great video. I’m using Darktable, can you advise the best modules to use to achieve similar results? Thanks

Are you already familiar with masking in darktable? the Dehaze tool in darktable is named "haze."

Hi @RyanPForde, the dehaze tool in Affinity photo is called "Haze." This "filter" can be found in the Filters menu.
