Ao Manao อ่าวมะนาว meaning "Lime Bay", is a bay in the west side of the Gulf of Thailand. It is five kilometres to the south of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The bay lies south of Prachuap Bay. It is open towards the east and is bounded by steep limestone outcrops forming peninsulas to the north and to the south. There are two islands in the bay, Ko Lueam about 3.6 km offshore and smaller Ko Aen, about 1.5 km off the beach within the bay.
Ao Manao is a great beach which is a popular tourist destination. It can be reached by road through the Wing 5 Royal Thai Air Force base.
The beach is one of my favorite beaches on the east coast of Thailand. With it being on the air force base it is a super clean beach. The back of the beach is also lined with plenty of shade trees making it a great place to relax. With the popularity of the beach there are many food options as well.
I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed.

This is a great beach that isn’t as well know as it should be. It’s not far from Hua Hin that is much more famous. If you want to compare here is a video I made from there. Glad you are enjoying them. This to me is one of the best beaches on the east coast. There are many other nice beaches to the south also.

Thank you Endless Journey…. beautiful area! My wife and I will be visiting next month from the Northeast USA. Looking forward to visiting Ao Manao Beach ( and the dusky langur monkeys!), as well as the entire area; we’re staying at a hotel just down from the Saranwithi Pier for 2 weeks, then moving up to a condo by Sam Roi Yot for 1 month. My wife, who is Thai, stayed at the hotel in Ao Manao last year with her sister… neither have ties to the military; I believe it is open to the public… I even get ads on my Facebook page from time to time.

Very good time to visit if you are coming from the states in January. Get out of the cold and snow. It’s the reason I left Colorado many years ago. lol Appreciate the info about the hotel. My wife had no idea about the hotel. Will have to figure it out. I think would be a great place to stay. We generally stay in the old town by the pier which is still nice but the beach view would be a nice change. Enjoy Sam Roi Yot. Been there many times. The mangrove river cruise and Phraya Nakhon Cave are lots of fun. It’s a bit of a hike to the cave but worth it. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it.
