Ao Nang is located in Ao Nang Subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi Province. It is a world-famous marine tourist attraction.
Ao Nang was originally called "Khlong Haeng". In the past, the area around Ao Nang was a mangrove forest. There was a canal flowing through it. During low tide, the water in the canal would dry up. Villagers could walk across to a small island in front of the beach. Later, a road was built along the beach. Ao Nang became a tourist attraction.
