I've built transmissions for years and came across this video class on the AOD family and I've got to say, this is the best transmission class I've seen, and it's free (onRU-vid). I've paid thousands of dollars over the years to learn the art of building transmissions. I wish videos of this caliber were available 45 years ago when I started, but the school of hard knocks taught me well. I'm not easily impressed, but you guys have impressed me with the thorough explanation of rebuilding transmissions. The way you teach it should give confidence to any beginner in this business. Just pay attention to what you're doing and you will see automatic transmissions are not that complicated. Thanks.
I like the amount of detail the only thing I would have done is had a bigger parts table and I imagine the reason it is not is due to getting all in frame also i would orvanize my sall parts not mix altogether
These classes have been so much help don’t know if I could of got this far with out them. A little tip, I Didn’t build the squeeze o matic, just used a couple c clamps and it was a piece of cake.
Good morning family and good health to everyone especially MENTAL. Again, again and again thank you very much for the valuable information and for your time. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for all that you do. These are the best transmission videos on RU-vid. I would love to see some videos on turbo 350's, C4's, C6's, as well as some newer front wheel drive models (possibly a Ford 6F35??). I know these are time consuming and maybe costly (?) to make. Have you ever considered opening a pay channel? If anyone deserves revenue from the videos they make, it's you!!! Thanks a million!!!
I am in the process of rebuilding a 4r70W from an 01 mustang. I bought everything needed and am hoping to figure out what caused my reverse pison to get stuck and to crack from the inside of the cap. I get the feeling it's gonna be valve body related. If not it's probably from overheating.
Is there a list of all the parts for this wood press made in the video? With instructions on how to build it, definitely going to try and make this press
FYI if your trans. acts like it goes into neutral when it shifts to 3rd gear it could be this; Inspect the back of the direct clutch hub to see if it is broke in two or the inter spines are stripped out with the stills and frictions looking like new.
This is just one of the best videos I've seen explaining the internal components of the 4R70W trans, I've been looking for material like this for quite a while but I still don't understand an issue Im having in a F150 equipped with this transmission.. If I shift into D 1st gear is correctly applied then shifts smoothly to 2nd gear but I can feel a shuddering vibration at less than 20 mph, don't know if it's the engine that's causing that or not but when trying to isolate the vibration I shifted manually to 2nd gear from a complete stop and I can still feel the same vibration, it changes with speed... Does this have something to do with a clutch pack or drum not fully applying?.
I have a 4x4 87 302 efi that was swapped to a 95 351 efi with a built AOD that was good and 6 years old with low mileage in it. The installer ordered the new flexplate with 0 balance for the internal balance 351/408. Very shortly after the install within 10 miles it stopped upshifting 2-3. There was some dibri cleaned out by a trans shop and they said it was fixed now. Then short miles later same issues. They said it had more and suspected clutches and clutch debris. Not driven hard or off road yet since received either. I took it to another shop and they said not that much and not clutch but bad and needed rebuild. I now concerned with the AOD and the TV setting with the swap and the same issue with a rebuild. Could this be the flexplate?" Internal AOD governor with swap? TV adjustment? Way to determine the cause? What would be the best transmission it is a 4z4 long travel built prerunner. King shocks 4.86 gears lockers, long travel 18" f 20"r etc.etc..It has a fresh rebuild and improved Borg W 1356 I did. I like the OD do drive from the concrete jungle in so cal to places like AZ, NV, or in CA but hours away but also run aggressive off road and long off road trips desert and mountains on 35" tires. I am concerned with TV cable is electronic better? It will be built for power and separate computer if electric. Thanks and any info may help it is a bit stressful I like my fUll size Bronco.
Go to the sponsor's site; transmissionbench.com. You can buy all videos on USB drive, including videos for GM & Chrysler transmissions. Their prices on parts are really good too, and you know you'll have the right stuff you need to rebuild.
