Wanted to add a few of my own thoughts to ‪@UnCommonCents-865‬ latest video. For people who want to lift one person's career by diminishing another's, we can play this game all day. At least in MJ's case he faced fully healthy rivals in the finals. Whether you think those teams were impressive or not is beside the point because (A) You only think that because someone put it in your head (B) Those are the teams that made it to the finals. Period.

Anyone pushing that Kareem was not on the team must think Kareem retired in his 20s. Just goes to show how little they know of the history of the game. Sad.

Fun fact- Michael Jordan beat Magic and Kareem at the LA Forum in his first ever game playing there against them in 1984. Also,.. I would take a prime Vlade Divac and Sam Perkins (excellent 3 pt shooter) playing at center in 1991 than an old Kareem. In addition Michael Jordan played Game 3 on of the 1991 Finals with a severely injured foot and had to wear a special shoe for it.

@@comparehealthlifedental These are people who don't know the game, didn't see it, don't know who Vlade or Sam Perkins are. Don't forget Elden Campbell was a nice young player for them and was had a solid career (not great, not all-star but the combo of Vlade, Perkins, and Campbell was far better than what a possible 44 year old Kareem would offer.) Kareem's last season he averaged 10 pts and 4 or 5 boards a game.

Lebum James, a name synonymous with failure, is a player plagued by a myriad of shortcomings. His inability to perform under pressure is evident in his numerous choke moments, crumbling when his team needs him most. He consistently shirks responsibility, passing the blame onto teammates and referees, refusing to acknowledge his own inadequacy. His stat-padding tendencies are well-documented, prioritizing personal accolades over team success. His lackluster defense is an embarrassment, a gaping hole in his team's strategy. His selfish playstyle disrupts team chemistry, alienating teammates and hindering their performance. Off the court, his arrogance and self-entitlement are insufferable, poisoning the locker room atmosphere. His constant whining and complaining further exacerbate his negative influence, creating a toxic environment for his team. Lebum James is a player defined by his flaws, a liability to any team unfortunate enough to have him. He is a stain on the legacy of the sport, a constant reminder of how not to play basketball.

👏 Well documented for his resume. That's the real LeFraude. Yet you can still find a lot of people praising how great he is on and off the court. He trashed the game so much, ruined the NBA, a stain on basketball. I let kids know. Let's continue. We can erase this stain! The more he plays the more he exposes himself. By the way, it disgusts me that the arguments made against Magic, Bird, Kareem, Kobe, and Magic don’t apply to LeBron. Kobe won 3 straight, lost one with Shaq, and they parted ways. They said he couldn’t win without Shaq, and he made the finals again a mere 4 years later, lost, and Shaq was rapping talking shit. Kobe then carried LeBron to his first gold medal, and promptly won back to back, not only avenging his loss to the Celtics Big 3 (the original superteam that had already defeated LeBron and Wade, the best 2nd and 3rd players in the league), but also reminding everybody he had one more than Shaq. 2000 to 2010, Kobe won 5 titles and made 7 Finals. Domination.

It's just one of those things. MJ never lost in the finals. And part of what makes Larry Bird a Goat is that he beat a team with two goats on it. Magic and Kareem. Kareem is a Goat with a legitimate Longevity argument attached to him but by the time he retired Kareem was severely diminished for playing 20 years of hard basketball + 3 if you count college which I do.

Kareem is the true longevity GOAT. He played until 42. He won his last FMVP in 1985 vs the stack Bird era Celtics, with Parish guarding him. He won his last finals at 41 in 1988 in the back to back, vs Detroit and played in his last finals at 42, again vs the Pistons. Isiah Thomas was injured in the 1988 NBA Finals when the Pistons were up 3-2 and in game 6, Thomas twisted his ankle in which he was on crutches, and Magic won with Isiah Thomas still playing injured. In 1989, Isiah Thomas won and when the series was starting, Detroit was up 1-0 and in game 2, Magic got hurt with the hamstring, Detroit won game 2 and in game 3, Magic went out on the court, started to play, played a couple of trips down the court, couldn't go, then he was out for the rest of the series and Isiah Thomas won 4-0. So when Magic was injured, Isiah won; when Isiah was injured, Magic won -- so that's Isiah Thomas vs. Magic Johnson in the NBA Finals...they are 1-1 against each other, case closed.

Jordan was always the best "player" in the NBA. He finally got a few solid role players and that was it. Kareem was over the hill when I started. He'd shoot a hook every time and missed more often than not. Kevin Mchale tour him up along with every other post player from 86 til he retired. Why Kareem can’t be compared with Mj: Kareem has monster Prime stats.. but also consider the circumstances: games. The 1971 Bucks, however, faced a sub-50 win team in each of the 3 rounds in their title run including the Lakers without Jerry West and the 42-40 Bullets with Gus Johnson missing half the NBA Finals. The 1972 Lakers defeated the Bucks with an injured Oscar averaging 9 ppg for the series and the sub-50 win Knicks without Willis Reed, who won Finals MVP in both 1970 and 1973 while defeating the Lakers both times. When the two teams that are generally considered the "best" of that era played such weak competition, that says it all about the quality of the era as a whole. The competition was so poor in 1976 that Kareem became the only MVP in NBA history to win the award despite missing the playoffs. When the best player in the league can't even make the playoffs, that says a lot about the quality of the league as a whole for that particular season. In fact, Kareem is the only consensus top 10 player to miss the playoffs twice in his prime, doing so in 1975 and 1976. Likewise, when the best player of that era missed the playoffs twice in his prime, that says a lot about the quality of the NBA in the 1970s as a whole. The following players were amongst the best of the 1970s, but spent a good amount of time in the ABA during that timespan, leaving a much weaker and watered down NBA for other players to compete in. Rick Barry - 1968/69 - 1971/72, did not play in 1967/68 Artis Gilmore - 1971/72 - 1975/76 Billy Cunningham - 1972/73 - 1973/74 George Gervin - 1972/73 - 1975/76 Julius Erving - 1971/72 - 1975/76 David Thompson - 1975/76 *This would be akin to Jordan competing in a league without Isiah, Magic, Drexler, Barkley, Payton, Stockton or Malone for a large chunk of his career, except for the fact that Jordan's group of competition was of far higher quality overall to begin with*. The 1970s had a severe dearth of quality NBA competition to begin with, and having to compete with the ABA weakened it even further

I think the 1991 Lakers were better than the '89 Lakers because old and slow Kareem slowing them down. I believe the documentary series was trying to give Scottie some flowers because they focused on the "lowlights" of his career in Chicago. They don't even mention the games that he and Jordan both scored over 40 points or the playoff game against the Knicks when he had 27 points to lead the team to their first victory in that series in 1993. Scottie became a great player because of Jordan but he is a bit overrated by Jordan haters.

He said Isiah Thomas never beat the lakers at full strength we'll neither did Magic. I was a die hard laker fan "at the time" and the pistons truly won us the year when the refs bailed out Kareem. LA was healthy that year. They called a bad call on laimbeer on kareem. Even I was like man i guess the ref really respects all the years Kareem has been in the league and possibly wanted us to win. They gave us that one. On top of that Isaiah was playing hurt for two games. His adrenaline kept him going the first game but it wasn't their the next game his ankle was swollen very bad. Same goes for MJ. He didn't beat Isiah either at full strength either in 91. Isaiah's shooting hand was messed up bad that year and the proof goes to looking at the year's states before the 91 season and year after. Other players weren't 100 percent either. The pistons beat boston at full strength and almost beat them the previous year if Thomas didn't throw the ball away to larry bird. They would've won against the lakers if that call which coach pat riley said wasn't a foul with a hurt Thomas. We can't take credit away from them beating great teams when they were 100 percent man they were just great. I knew the next year we played them that we weren't going to win because they truly won us with a hurt Thomas. The Bulls were winning teams too regardless and the pistons were the only team keeping them down. No sorry team would've been keeping Mike down like that. The Bulls never face great teams like the 80's Lakers, Celtics, or Pistons in the 90's. Nobody is going to pick divac over 1987 Kareem. Lakers won 5 championships with him. Name one team who was as great as one of those Celtic's, Pistons, or Laker's teams from the 90's that the Bulls beat in the finals. Please. In my opinion Mike is the greatest player I've ever seen regardless but he still didn't face any great teams in the 90's that anyone would bet their car or house or bank account on.

Le Balsky fan based is just bunch of kids. Lakers in 91 got 5 players averaging 11+ points. They got another all star in Worthy, Magic, Perkins 14 a game, Divac. Magic was just 32 back then. That was supposed to be a sweep. BUlls that yr just really elevated their game. Sweeping the Pistons the previous yrs champion as well.

Lot of revisionist history. Vlade in 91 was putting up better numbers than Kareem in his last playoff run. Jordan and the Bull 5-5 against the Showtime Lakers.

Ridiculous, what a reach. Retirement is one thing, now injuries are the victors problem? How about missed game winners? Are they going to say Jokic never beat the Lakers when LeBron didn't miss his shots? That the Mavs never beat the heat when LeBron didn't choke?

Bad boy le media talking points of just bitter 70 legends like george gervin Julius irving that nba set up mike meaning top nba offical commissioner then on down they change the rules for jordan and people with similar skillset for one one play yarda yarda etc.... yes but the league was most physical late 90 early 2000 but the 94 rating was worst then what we have today so yes nba is a business not a sport entertainment

The Portland Trail Blazers didn't defeat the Lakers the year before. In 1990 the Lakers were defeated by the Phoenix Suns in 5 games. A big factor being Kevin Johnson torching the Lakers. That never happened when Kareem was there either. They always had good teams but Jabbar's presence forbade their advancement. I have no agenda and am not confused as some people are. The Bulls never beat the Showtime Lakers or the great Celtic teams. Just a fact. Jordan played as good as an individual can play in a team game. 1 man couldn't control it in the 1980s. That decade was a level higher than anything we've had since regarding strength of the teams. They were deeper, stacked with multiple all stars with quality players coming off the bench. The Lakers were powerhouse but so was Boston, Philadelphia and the Milwaukee Bucks. In the the San Antonio Spurs were loaded. The East Coast Media Bias may put a hit out on me for clarifying this. Any team with George Gervin, Artis Gilmore, Johnny Moore and the explosive Mike Mitchell as well as Gene Banks will be a 🏆 contender. The Bulls would have their hands plenty full with Milwaukee and San Antonio from certain periods of that decade. Not a knock on Michael Jordan as a player but I draw the line on the full on hero worship. I never saw a player more dominant in every facet of the game than Mid to late 70s Kareem. He altered every part of the game on both ends. He didn't have Jordan's or even Erving's flash and marketability. That's it. He literally carried the late 70s Lakers on his back scoring 43+ pts 4 times in one series against the Warriors not to mention the 20+ rebounds 5+ blocks. Still LA barely won in 7 games. The next round he scores 40 on the great Bill Walton outplaying one of the greatest players to ever play but that wasn't enough in a team game. Portland had an outstanding team and won the championship. If one guy could do it trust me Jerry West would be walking around with about 12 rings instead of only 1. Look at the man's performance in those pressure moments. Kareem passes the test, Jordan passes the test, West passes the test, Lebron doesn't even enter my thoughts.

You wouldn't do anything. Being me I'd probably take pity on you and drag you to an AA meeting or maybe an MA. You need Michael Anonymous. The Lakers were not fully intact in the 91 finals. Worthy was playing injured and Worthy was pretty much a non factor. Just pointing that out for clarity. The Bulls still would have won that year even if the Lakers were at full strength and 40 plus year old Kareem wouldn't have made a difference against the great Bill Carthwright. lol. It wouldn't have mattered the year before either against the dominant force of Kevin Duckworth. *snickers*

Yall can call me crazy, but I think MJ's closest competitor was John Stockton. John and Karl are the only all-star players to face MJ twice in the finals. Those Jerry Sloan teams were always competitive and always in the playoffs. They knocked off some great teams and came up short for a long time. I will never forget the shot over Byron Russell and how it cemented Jordan's legacy; it must therefore also cement the team he shot it over for the 2nd time. Who else has the caliber of grit necessary to compete on the highest level like MJ?
