15:15 If you can only chose osiris or set from now on I think osiris is arguably better. Mummy is the only solution against colossus / fire giant spam late game.
Thanks, great tutorial! I play on Steam AOM (not Voobly) using Quick Match....I can't get above a 1500 rating. It seems everyone is a "smurf" and plays wayyyy better than their rating. I have 1300 and 1400 players beating me. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm an okay player and use hotkeys, ctrl groups, etc.(many years ago when AOM was really popular I'd hover around 1675-1725 with my max around 1750).
Using hotkey, group etc... doesn't mean or make you an okay player tbh. The fundamental combine with both defensive/offensive strad that win the game. There are lots of 1600 to 1650 on Steam most of them are noob and of course there will be some smurf.
@@denny8548 I didn't say using hotkeys makes me an okay player. And I'm not talking about 1600-50 players. I'm saying 1300-1500 basically. Are good players keeping their ratings that low on purpose to smurf?
@@vamp9190 it was the same for me first, but then i trained with AI and can now hold myself on around 1650ish and I'm not really using all the hotkeys yet. I don't encounter many people who smurf actually, had it maybe once in the last few weeks. Fundamentals and watching other people play on this channel helped me a lot with getting better. you probably can do it too, just keep on :)
As Ra, you'll pretty much always want to go 2TC. Egypt TCs are cheap and the Rain GP guarantees you enough food to advance to the Heroic age while producing villagers off 2 TCs. You'll have more villagers than a 1TC build, which compliments Ra's empower advantage. You only really go 1TC if you have a bad starting gold mine and expect to defend an early all-in/gold starve from an Athena rush, Ares rush, Kronos rush, or Heimdall rush. If you are able to safely mine gold, you're pretty much safe to go 2TCs. There are some cheesy 1TC all-in strats you can throw in for fun too, like sub 7 minute Fast Heroic into scarabs w/ shifting sands & eclipse. If you play against the same person consistently, it's nice to throw in some cheese every now and then to keep them respecting your options haha.
@@xDread Its interesting to see Boit try to go out of the meta in one of his recent RA games where he goes 1 TC and spammed spearmens against a Poseidon matchup but like you said i think in most matchups you go 2 TC, it doesnt make sense not to. Do you know how to handle insane heroic rushes? I try to advance to Heroic and sometimes in team games I get hersir + murmillo rushed on my 2nd TC 7mins in. Should i be predicting this and going 1TC to begin with and counter with axemens if they are going to rush? Shifting ands and eclipse sounds dope actually.. I always go the Hathor i think but adding in Eclipse could be a game changer if I want to rush someone maybe like a Poseidon player lol I want to get better at RA so I appreciate the tips
@@KennnnyT In team geams, I like to start walling up after I have spent gold on my 2nd TC, Husbandry, Plow, and a 2nd priest - usually around 4:45 - 5:00 in game. I aim to wall-in both TCs and a second gold mine if possible. For your 2nd TC, take the back one that is closer to your team mate. Team games use a larger map, so it will take longer for your opponent to walk to you - especially your back TC. If you get attacked 2v1, the walls will give you time to see if your team mate is going to help or not. If not, you'll want to drop a few barracks and delay Heroic Age. If your team mate does help, you can likely defend with Shifting Sands and a small amount of spearmen, axemen, or priests. Your first line of defense against rushes is Shifting Sands. While advancing to the Classical age, after you have finished building your second house, take your house builder and build a square box out of 4 walls within tower range. If your opponent attacks you in the Classical Age, use Shifting Sands to teleport their army inside the box, and your towers will kill them for free. When doing a 2TC FH as Ra, you'll usually start advancing to Heroic Age between 6:45 - 7:15 if you don't spend any resources on military. If your opponent still feels threatening after Shifting Sands, then delay your Heroic Age and build some axemen, spearmen, or priests. Eclipse + scarabs is fun vs the Greeks. They have few heroes and Eclipse blocks other god powers from being used while it is active, so the Greek player will not be able to cast Ceasefire until after your bugs have finished rolling through their base lol. Hathor is definitely the meta pick though - mainly for Locust Swarm and the stronger late game. If you're looking to improve at Ra, I'd recommend checking out some Ra games by IamMagic or Kimo. Magic has great decision making and defends early aggression very well, and Kimo plays a really clean 2TC build pretty much every game.
@@xDread can also do an aggressive 1tc heroic 8:30 (if herdables are 5-6 plus) - chariot archer, siege push with two elephants if you find your self wanting to counter an isis a&e push or a booming Norse player. Gains pretty good map control also. And then rain to mythic 🤙🏼
@@Drago2600 If you go for a 1TC Heroic, I think it's best to try to reach Heroic as early as possible - like arriving between 6:30 - 7:15 off of hunt. Arriving early will give you a longer window to do damage with your Heroic units and god power to try to catch up to your opponent's economy. Heroic age costs 800f, 500g, and puts you 4 villagers behind due to research time at the TC. 1TC Heroic is a riskier strategy, since you start behind and are required to do damage to catch up. You can definitely catch up though with a good Locust Swarm, chariot raids, Roc raids, and the earlier you can put on the pressure the better imo. I think Isis is brutal if you're wanting to play an aggressive 1TC Heroic. You can advance really early and go straight into siege and elephant, using A+E minions to defend them.
And... theres no counter to it as Loki :D Unless RA is ultra and advances clasic at ~6. And even then if you managed to deny second tc, he can outpush u with fast mythic and SOO..
