One ridge that escaped me. Sadly, I wasn’t present when the group I normally walked with did it several years ago. All in their mid to late 7Os. Now in my mid-80s I will confine myself to watching your videos. Thanks.

Mountain vids don't come much better than this. Did the ridge in 1968 - weather wasn't as good as this, and the wind was fair shrieking between the pinnacles. You mentioned the winter traverse - altogether a much more serious proposition (and there's not much daylight time either). I think, at the age of nearly 70, I won't be doing it again. The rescue services in Scotland are busy enough as it is! Thanks for doing this one though.

Got a right sweat on watching this and nothing to do with the 40C temp down south. Great video.

Very enjoyable, simply showed the scramble, lovely day, no intrusive music, didn't hear any traffic. I've traversed this ridge when I was a medical student in Glasgow one hot early July day with a friend. That was 52 years ago. I'm not sure I'd have the head for the exposure now. I now live in NZ but would love to return to Scotland for a while and bag a few easier Munros. I live near some 3,000 to 5,000 foot mountains, the Tararuas. They have a fearsome reputation, there are well marked tracks across the top, but the ferocious wind and the changeable weather can catch a lot of trampers out.

Absolutely amazing! Really enjoyed watching and think I have to do a good few more munros before attempting this. Certainly not for the faint hearted that's for sure! ATB, Kyle 👍

Great video. I've not done the AE, but would love to. I think the video gave me a good sense of what to expect. The actual scrambling looks like something I'd be perfectly comfortable with, but the length of the ridge and the more exposed sections would give me a few butterflies!

just did the ridge yesterday with my wife and watched someone nearly come a cropper on the suicide paths... I reckon you should always be no more than 20ft from the ridge at any moment - if you're going further away, you're probably going wrong

Finally got this done two days ago Damon, I nearly came a cropper on the Pinnacles LOL! Because of that bump and a few others i seem to have lot of corrupted footage on my SD cards. No enough to make a vid though so a wee bit gutted. But it was a great day out though, What a place to fine tune your scrambling. Am Bodach was a wee bit hairy, Bad idea keeping my back against the face instead of facing it. Learning the hard way as usual LOL!

This ridge needs respect but as with all these vids the wide angle lenses make it look scarier than it actually is. Great vid though and brings back great memories of when I did it 20+ years ago. Highly recommended and can be done by anyone who has done a bit of scrambling.

Fine video distracted me from tv. Pinnacles at 26-28 min? Never been to Glencoe but did climb around Mt. Coe in my youth.

Really struggling to find a start point for this walk. Do you park at the three sisters or there abouts, then where is it from there lol. Been dying to do it this summer but dont know anyone who's climbed it!

We are traveling to Scotland in 2 weeks. This and Ben Nevis are our goals. How long did it take? We are physically fit and in our mid 30's
@DamonRitchie

I'd allow for 6-7 hrs (7 if you need to walk back to your starting point)

Serious stuff! How do you know if you have the head for these heights? I suppose you could traverse close to the edge of some wider Munro’s?

Great video to give us an idea about the route. Just curious why you decided to go west to east not east to west? This might help us with our choice of direction, does it make a great deal of difference as I know there is an abseil east to west, if I am thinking correctly as it was almost 20 years ago when I last did it. Thanks
@DamonRitchie
@DamonRitchie 6 лет назад
+Pirin Adventures walking holidays Doesn't really matter I don't think, I've done it both ways. Just more convenient this direction on this day. Not sure of a must do abseil east to west although there is a tricky slab section on the first descent that way so some may ab down that
@pirinadventureswalkingholi349
@pirinadventureswalkingholi349 6 лет назад
ive only ever done it in winter, and we had to abseil on one section :-) Like you said it can be of a scrabble or something along those lines with crampons :-)

Hi Damon. If I go there by car can I come back to the start point and get my car, please?
@DamonRitchie
@DamonRitchie 9 лет назад
You can but it's about 60 min walk by the roadside (there is a track/path) back to your car whichever point you start. Some just reverse the route, thumb a lift or if 2 cars, drop one off at end point.

+Damon Ritchie Is this mountain higher than Nelson's Column in London? I could never climb a mountain! Far too scary for me! I am unable to walk 50 yards now without getting out of breath anyway!
