@Terry_Merry_Berry
@Terry_Merry_Berry 3 года назад
@Not Suspicious Human that’s really deep and insightful, unfortunately I do not agree and if the digging was taking place as you said “I think 50 acres away” the natives wouldn’t be concerned it is in fact happening on their land. You are an apologist, I understand copper is used across many industries and manufacturing processes. That being said the one they are trying to claim will take away campsites from a national forest along with access to climbing and bouldering trails in addition to the land that is quite literally their sacred land, This deposit, perhaps not coincidentally, lies underneath the sacred lands of Chi’chil Bildagoteel, and the company resolution copper looks to sieze this exact land. I do not fear these things, I am aware enough to call it for what it is, exploitation and theft, with awareness comes responsibility. With peace and love, Han.

@Not Suspicious Human Not just that but there is nothing sacred about this place. I am from San Carlos, born and raised by my family and those around me. I started taking part in my tradition 5 years ago and ever since I started and this whole “Oak Flat being sacred” none of our medicine men care. They say it is not sacred and there is nothing special there. They say that it’s because our tribe is in it for “political reasons” and that we as Apaches should not partake in politics of another people. Wendsler Nosie, claims to be Chiricahua Apache and that this place is sacred to his people yet the land around was Western Apache territory.. My people the Pinal Apache lived and travelled around these areas. These people love to quote so much of the more well known Apaches being brave, strong, fighting for what was right yet his grandfather was an Apache Scout, a sellout to those continuing to fight for our right to be Apaches. They care more about this land then they do about our own people. Wendsler and the whole San Carlos Apache Council. They choose land over the well being of our members and if you ask me that is a disgrace to our ancestors. A place where sellouts talk so high and mighty, about how good our people were in the past yet they do nothing for us. Nothing changes..
@ApacheKidd
@ApacheKidd 3 года назад
@Aron Toulouse As Apaches we are taught that there are specific places that are sacred. I believe there are more important matters than land almost 60-70miles away from us that no one really used up until the 2000’s. I’ve heard from most elders that Oak Flat was what I guess you could call a “rest stop” for all tribes of the past because there was spring water, acorn and other various foods growing there. As I’ve stated before there are more important matters. If that land is sacred then yes it is a lost.. To me this sacred land should be somewhere in Apache history but it’s not. I’ve researched so much of our past because I’m dedicated to keep it alive as well as learned as much as I can from those that passed on and there’s nothing about Oak Flat. Even tried asking Wendsler and his family but none of them ever game me the reason why.. I’m not like these modern day natives who complain about every single little thing or “peaceful”, I know my history and culture of my band the Pinal Apache and embrace it whole heartedly. Don’t tell I’m not native just because I don’t fit your own personal values. A reason why most people don’t get along because of those that impose their own ideals onto others. I’ve been dark since the day I was born and Apache and Hopi blood flows through my veins. Love to see you say I’m not “native” in person than I’ll prove to you why us Apaches are still ruthless to those who cause problems. To me I think about the past during the Apache Wars.. While it may be different times, you learn that they didn’t fight for land. Especially towards the end of the wars, they fought to be true to the Apache ways and to protect their people to the very end. A part of our history no one likes to talk about because we were “killers”. The reason I feel this has importance now is because Wendsler and the council care more about that land than the people they should be helping. It’s always been like this and I know it always will until someone else takes their place. They took so much from the people, did so little for the people, and wasted so many funds that went to waste.. Even now the Council is trying to make an 1,000 acres farm where there is no water at all. The most dry place on the San Carlos Reservation. So tell me why is land more important than the well-being of our people and our current resources..

Its unbelieveble how everything has a price tag, the Original inhabitants of this land seem to be the only ones who always understood how sacred it is, while the short sighted white man split it up like a giant pie killed all the self sustaining animals such a buffalo & created monopolies and corporations & still we want more, its a never ending void im afraid..

Yea sure it will create 1000 jobs..but the flipside of that coin is that the jobs that is created from mining copper will benefit those with college degrees..not for your average person...like I or people reading this. Yes I have diploma but long story short. Them saying that "oh it gonna bring jobs and create jobs if approved mining" it's a b.s. excuse.
