South Africa has the strongest military in Africa especially during apartheid era because of conscription and they also has nuclear weapons but it's not a justification for Apartheid there's no justification for apartheid sure ANC was currupt thieves but apartheid was no good either.

I'm an South African of 1820 Settler stock and grew up in SA, which I love. While I agree about the awful injustices of apartheid, what gets me most when it comes to this preachy piece of snooty Brit baloney is that this chap and his associates continue to vilify SA whites (naturally with the onus on the Afrikaner), while Britain -- which I also love -- had an integral part in unashamedly creating variations of it not only in South Africa and Zimbabwe, but in multiple parts of the globe. Great Britain's colonial enterprises are unequivocally of the very same apartheid spirit, with almost every kind of similarity to what this Brit condemns with such blind self-righteousness.
Perhaps you’re missing the nuance that Westminster wanted one man one vote in South Africa, but during negotiations Kitchener on the ground did not enforce this in order to end the 2nd Boer war. Your society was simply more and more incompatible with ours. Rightly or wrongly we mapped what we know of our black minority on to your majority, but the main issue was that it was obvious that SA couldn't go on forever with the NP in charge in the then-current form, it was dragging a whole continent into its squabbles, and threatening to become a Soviet puppet. We simply had to decide who would be in charge of the country eventually and ensure we weren't hated by them. It's a matter of realism. And we found the rabid Apartheid supporters distasteful, still do. Put some peevish person spitting Afrikaans about how eventually, some day, all would be well against nice polite black people just like the ones from whom we wanted forgiveness, at the time, and you were on the fast path to losing.

Hi Kevin Harris, I see the clip starts with claiming two generations of Apartheid, would that be the Apartheid from the Republic of 1961 or the Apartheid from the British Union of South Africa of 1910, with the British Union 1913 land act, job reservation and a parallel immorality type act ? Or would that be the Pass Laws from the British Cape Colony of 1797 and related land act of the same time ? Would it have any relation to the practice by the British to ring bells after dark to shove non-whites out of town in the British Cape and British Natal Colonies ? How about any relation to the bizarre practice in the British Union Of South Africa to disallow blacks to walk on pavements ?
The British Empire was only a sham - boon to the people it colonized. It either replaced them utterly like in the US, Canada, New Zealand or Australia, or abandoned them when they became annoying, to stew in their own juices.

The problem in South Africa up to this day is that the important commodities such as access to valuable education, access to well paid jobs that can support a middle class lifestyle, access to health facilities etcetera are still not distributed fairly. Also, the mineral riches - the people of South Africa are not benefiting from our enormous wealth. A society with only a small upper class, a small middle class and an enormous lower class just won't work. Look at the most stable, wealthy and healthy countries: they have the most socially equal societies, very small lower class and a big middle class: countries such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark with their social democratic model of socialism or Western Germany during the reign of Brandt. Unequal societies just won't work, history has proven this numerous times!

That is what I did, if I had been a white under apartheid I will have fighted till death if necessary against it. But I will equally criticize what I am criticizing now. I know that. I think that one of the problems is that there is not a black middle class, and that the few rich blacks do not care about the not rich blacks. I think the whites have enough problems by themselves for thinking in a racist way about the black people. I think SA is a very special country. You can not say it is black or white or coloured or Indian, because all that races have lived there since long time ago. I will not enter the pathetic bantering on who was first in the land. Look at Jan Smuts, a rich, privileged, white Afrikaaner. He opposed apartheid and was part of the Fagan comission which opposed apartheid. He said that "If we have a South Africa with many races, the key is that each of that races holds the highest degree of power in a concrete matter of the national life, therefore white people should lead politics, black people should lead economy, and the rest should lead busniesses" is that being a racist? I agree with land reformation, and with giving most of the land to the majority (blacks) but then the other races should receive also land according to their population percentage within the global population. But could you assure this other groups that their land will not be destroyed, themselves not being killed, their girls not raped, etc?

We were sanctioned and had to defend ourselves by producing aircraft, helicopters, armored vehicles, weapons, that were better or equal to any other western country could. The Afrikaner tried to prevent what is now happening in South African. Granted, Apartheid wasn’t the way to go about it but what other system could have ensured this? One man one vote clearly didn’t achieve this.
Apartheid was the way to go. There is nothing wrong with segregation. It is not a sin. If you have a wall around your property then you are segregating insiders from outsiders. Think before you speak.

That said, it is evident the specific implementation in South Africa had some problems. It focused to much on separate entrances and exits in buildings and not enough on keeping the Western Cape from Bantuizing. The Biggest problem of all was that despite the apparent far right appearence of Apartheid South Africa, it was still built on a British style Parliamentary Liberal Democratic foundation, the same system that's been failing not just in South Africa but the other Western Nations what with Mass Immigration and Lockdowns. What South Africa needed was a either a strong One Party State lead by a Pinochet-like figure, or a more Market Anarchist approach like what Hans Hermann Hoppe proposes.

Let's look at the British colonial atrocities all over the world from Africa to India and then throw in a couple of Carribean Islands. But let's start at the 1899 Boer War in South Africa where the British burnt down Boer farms and imprisoned hundreds of thousands of Boer women and children of which 125, 000 plus starved to death in concentration camps. Lets, not end there. If you travel by train from Kroonstad to Johannesburg along the railway line if you look carefully, you will see small piles of stones that look like markers of some sort, well that's where black South Africans died and were buried for By the British for whatever reasons during the Boer war. Black South Africans were used as labour to pack wagons, carry the injured and dead British soldiers for Queen and country. The British started Apartheid by importing labour from India. Sadly, South Africa just put a name to it and called it Apartheid and the world jumped on the term.

The Modern one which is the Whites and the other is Patriarcle, Tr!bal, Pasteral and Rural which is the Majority's which has been so for millenia. The Majority only started a mass migration to the City's in the late 1950's and 60's. Is it the Whites fault that they were in the Rural Areas or was it Natures? All Blacks in the earlier years were given a brick home if they worked in the White areas. The Dompas was only introduced to prevent unindating the Townships by migrating people. So in my opinion yours is wrong.

Because the Majority mostly resided in the rural areas and was far behind the Whites in growth, with a bit of effort the Majority was supposed to put their backs into creating their Homelands into a utopia for themselves but like most things, they wanted what others had built up. But the 'minority' had no foresight and were a bit too greedy... would you hand over a company to a bunch of pre-schoolders to run? The apartheid government should have thought about these issues 20 years pre 1994 and train/educate the majority so that they were handing over the country to competent people. They made the mistake of handing an entire country to 'pre-schoolers'. I sure wouldn't have done that...

You lambasted Whites for what happened as well but why? We invented the White Culture, you have all but bastardised it completely as look how the Country looks like that you inherited for free, you've stuffed it up completely, but then it's not your Culture. But don't feel bad, Apartheid was practiced by the Majority as well. In the 1950 and 60's the Indunas and Tribal Chiefs prohibited their people from frequenting White areas for fear that they would lose the Black Culture and accept the White one, which has happen as you already know.
