I will go do my own research on South African spacial planning for pre colonial times to colonial and apartheid and how we have become who we are today, I have never understood why black people are so powerless and self enslaved brought on by our immidiate eviroment but I never understood how. Interesting. In Europe, most cities ‘poor areas’ are located down wind of the rich or wealthy areas. Because smoke from chimneys went in that direction. Nothing to do with race, all to do with wealth.
How then do we rectify the existing cities and towns by bringing them closer to African cities? Or we say okay, it's fine, they are here so we leave them and look for new developments and change spatial planning into African Style? What do we do with existing towns?
Do what Singapore did to stop their race tension between the Chinese and Malay and Tamil Indians. Forced integration of public housing flats which is the majority of housing in that densely populated.
You simply stop developing townships , stop building roads in townships stop building houses and malls and divert all that money to developing cities and start moving people to the cities its not that hard , like why is the ANC still continuing with building new Townships
Apartheid spatial planning was evil. Very sad human beings can plan this type of system upon others. Growing up in Durban in the 80's/ 90's we experienced this. In the years after 1994 suddenly certain suburbs belonging to a certain minority group became crime ridden as they where next to townships. Deliberate Apartheid spatial planning, if there was an uprising we would as a race group would be hit first. This formed a buffer for white citizens apparently. Our Property prices fell, yet we built palatial homes in the 70's, 80's. Whilst after 1994 the former affluent white suburbs became sort after by affluent non white citizens wanting to move to former white areas. The white middle class and wealthy elite gained from the fall of Apartheid through property. Houses in Hyde Park,Johannesburg for example where valued under 200k in 1993 then prices went up after 1994 to over million Rands. So since 1994 the white middle class and wealthy have being enriched by owning properties in the affluent areas. Others went on to become property developers because they owned substantial land in northern/ affluent suburbs. Free hold properties worth millions, hence easy gor them to get loans to develop. This is a fact. Look at Cape Town, the Monaco of Africa. Who owns almost all the valuable properties, mostly one race group. Even with the semi-gration to the western cape, the average white persons over 55, average middle class people can sell their properties for between 3 to 6 million and move to Cape Town. When you state this reality then you are shot down.
ANC stil builds apartheid style houses hell those houses that were build by aparthied stil stand today strong but democratic house rebranded RDP famed houses are not yet some 4 years old are crambling down they are more smaller small that aparthied houses making apartheid houses more desireable than these ANC tick tick matchbox houses.
