Apartment Home Theater 

I lived in an apartment for a while while my house was being built. I learned at that time that most apartments are built with paper-thin walls. Most are so thin that "I", on most nights, woke up from my neighbor snoring! .... I can just imagine how AWARE you gotta be with a system of that size..... TODAY, I can watch a movie at ANY volume and bass level I WANT in my house and NO ONE hears ANYTHING!!! MY personal advice, If you LOVE watching movies and listening to music as much I think you do, THAT alone would prompt ME to find a house. It all really revolves around how forgiving your neighbors are though. Personally, I just could not STAND hearing all the crap that went on at all my neighbors apartments. THIS is why "I" love being in a house. BTW -- VERY NICE system!!!!

This is nice. I like seeing setups like this. Much more realistic than these $100k plus dedicated rooms that only a handful of people can afford.

About time.....I got tired of scrolling through YT & seeing 60 yr old men with massive DEDICATED home theater basements with expensive homes they brought 20 yrs ago 😂. Most 🇺🇸 live in the cities & apts.

My setup is in the basement my back row is about 11 feet away 82 inch Samsung love it. I also have a tripod stand 100 inch screen with projector same seating distance I use for a more theater feel. It feeling like be in a real movie experience.

My friend went with 4xRP-6000F for his fronts and rears, the RP-10" sub with receiver, a couple of older Klipsch bookshelves and a Martin Logan center channel because he couldn't fit the Klipsch into his space. The Martin Logan was the previous version of the Motion 50, I think s the star of his system. It was the last thing he purchased, he's thinking about running some Martin Logan fronts and using the 6000F for surrounds but he rarely listens to music so it just might be a nice pair of Klipsch classics for fronts.

Niceee KOOL! I have a Klipsch setup also RP-280f’s & the massive RC-64iii.for side & rear’s & heights i have the RP-500sa’s & 3 SPL-120 sub’s. They are connected to my Onkyo TX-RZ840 with a Emotiva XPA3 for the front stage & Basx A4 for the side & rear’s! Yoo this hobby is a drug lol! Enjoy

It looks amazing! Can't wait to see where you go from there. Also.. if you do get an amplifier.. my suggestion. Get something with about the same power as your AVR is giving if not (this happened to me) your gonna realize how amazing your amplified speakers sound and end up going completely with separates because the sound difference is noticeable and it might bug you. That's my two cents.. have a great one!

Same as you when it comes to the consoles. Got my ps5 and Xbox one x. Love your set up my space is quite small too. Got the 4 atmos too but I got my speakers hooked on the ceiling. P.s i think your tv is too high up. Meant to be eye level with middle of the screen. Please don't take offense just trying to advise as I used to have my tv way up like that when I lowered it, it was a lot better.

Get the RP-1400 when it goes on sale for $699 again! When you move of course lol. I have the RP-1200 in my apartment and I cant even push it past like 50% without pissing people off

I was just wondering have you thought of removing the centre channel glass shelf then lowering the centre channel down onto the cabinet. Which will then allow the TV to be positioned a whole foot lower. Just a thought there's nothing like a perfect Line of Sight... especially if you're going to get the G3 Hope this hasn't put a dampener on your enthusiasm. Your Enthusiasm rocks. Thanks for posting

Fronts could use more separation. For home theater you should have a minimum of 7 ft separation but ideally the same distance from the screen to your MLP. You should also have your towers a minimum of 1 ft away from any surface such as the back wall, TV stand etc, speakers need breathing room and it makes a big difference in sound quality. Also your subwoofer placement probably isn't ideal as up front next to the towers is typically not where you'll get the best room response even though it looks the best. I'm sure you're familiar with the subwoofer crawl method, I would definitely recommend that. Also you should have some feet on your center, it looks like you just have it sitting on the glass shelf which is a terrible idea. It needs to be isolated from the surface. Nice setup though.

I love near-field HT. This is more like near-field to mid-field but still. Kudos for you for using on-wall/on-ceiling height speakers at the 30 degree angle. Such a friggin cool setup. I love it. Even sounded great through YT! Also, I would recommend spacing your L+R further out and still facing the MLP. Maybe even getting that left channel on the left side of your shoe rack and pushing your shoe rack up to the HT console and then mimicking the same movement in your right channel to match. Don't you just love unsolicited advice?? haha. Couldn't help it. I'm a fanatic as well.

I really wanna get that Onkyo TX-RZ50! Did you do a full Dirac calibration? If so, did you use a quality mic like the UMIK-1? I heard that makes a big difference.

Great setup! Some theater feedback. You want your LEFT and Right Towers equal distance from each other and your main listenning position. this is called the Triangle Rule for speakers. That way you can put your sub on the other side of the right tower speaker. Your placement of your rears is way less important as your front sound stage since very minimal sound is played thru them during a movie or show. I have heard some fantastic 3.1 setups that I preferred over 5.1.4 or 7.2.4 like I have in my dedicated theater. I would put some acoustic foam or rubber acoustic feet on your center channel and get it off that glass shelf. that glass is vibrating for sure when playing movies/shows. Great setup! a few tweaks and it will be even better! Also invest in a SPL meter and level match all your speakers.

First time I ran into your channel. Nice setup. I live in a apartment for over 30 years and always had a home theater. Nice to know younger people taken a interest in this hobby because I usually see people in their 50's and 60s in this hobby my age group.I like your setup because that is the same one I have except I have a Yamaha instead of a Onkeyo and Mirage speakers. I also have towers as my back channel . I am looking for a house also so I hope you can get one soon too. I am looking for a house because I have over 500 DVDs and CDs and need the space

When that car exploded felt it. Mad setup 😊. Look into getting a buttkicker for home theater. Looking to buy the new version. Old one is good but it cuts off when it over heats.

when you get your home I can't stress this enough get rid of that AV receiver get a preamp and a amplifier and it's nice that you put your height speakers up high on the wall not on the ceiling people will argue this over and over but height speakers for Dolby Atmos is way better than in the ceiling because if you know anything about speaker imaging you're going to direct that imaging directly toward the floor with ceiling speakers . Stay with height speakers as far up on the walls you can get . The only time you should use ceiling speakers for a Dolby Atmos system is if you have a ceiling that's like 20 ft high . Also if it's in your means I would seriously upgrade to a projector .

To be honest the seating distance versus screen size is subjective, it's more of a preference. I'm sitting around 9' to 10' away from my 85" Sony TV and 120" projector screen.

What are you using for a TV stand? Is it a separate piece from the rest of the entertainment center or is it all one piece?

I dont know what to do, I am trying to figure out how important is atmos for me.... My designated area is also very small and honestly, I feel I can do with out atmos. Right now I have 5.1, am upgrating to the 8060 series klipsch . A/V supports 7.2. no atmos. I honestly do not want to get another A/V. I am considering using the other two sides I dont plan to use as cealing.... your thoughts?

Hi, I have 2 jbl stage A135c center speakers vertical on the wall each side my tv. I also have 3 floor standing speakers in 3 corners, front left front right and back left corner.. I have 2 subs and 2 bookshelf.. my avr reciever denon AVR-X1700H.. I cannot have 1 center speaker above or below my tv so I need help trying to set these up best way possible.. I was thinking about using the back left or front right floorstanding speakers jbl stage A190 as a center? And use surround L/R for both my jbl A135c center speakers. Do you have any suggestions that may help
