Just another KAREN taking away from the gun and informative content. Just started as a apartment Maintenance Tech. I loved the Vlogs. Helped me get some useful information for repairs I haven’t done before. Thank you for your input and time.
I guess in a way I understand, but Ive watched every vlog and have never seen anything that would identify any of the tenants and you have never done anything that I would say "If that was my apartment, Id be mad". Ive learned quite a bit from you and hopefully, I will in the future as well.
I agree - but keep in mind I also piss off a lot of residents especially when it comes to old washers and dryers. They all want new ones and I don't think they are happy with me when I fix the issue or tell them it's operating at manufacturer specs

I am an appliance tech and I've learned quite a bit from you through the vlogs. I look forward to watching your videos on my lunch so I can learn and be better at diagnosing and repair. It sucks that someone has to ruin a good thing that was helping quite a bit of people. I hope you recover and find a new avenue to spread your knowledge.
Hey man, I'm really sorry for what happened. I so enjoyed watching the VLOGS. If your company is reading this, it's a huge loss for them because if I lived in that city wherever it is and was looking for an apartment, I'd want to live there. Well, I believe that whoever reported you was motivated by envy. Hidden envy causes people to do really bad things. You're a talented repairman who looks out for your company and the tenants, a very good teacher, and I pray God blesses you and your family. 🙂
Tough break man. As a service manager over 420 units I am surprised someone didn't complain sooner with how there are always those problem tenants. You make good videos so just keep pushing man.

Sorry to hear Dave. New subscriber here in Vancouver Canada and I love your videos. Sad that it’s probably one person causing this and we - 1000’s of followers suffer. You need to continue with some kind of Vlog - you have so many viewers, huge knowledge, a passion to share, a love of hiking & outdoors. Right up my alley - and everyone else’s!
Dave, I like all of the previous comments suggest. Your channel was full of the very best of maintenance tips. You should take your talents to where you’d be supported. You only shared drain hair balls, glass bits in disposers etc etc. never once showing content of an apt. The best to you!

Sorry to hear about this. I really liked the vlogs as it was fun to see the random stuff each day. Weird since you never showed anything that would let you know who or what unit you were in. Hope you can make some vlog type stuff outside units if anything interesting happens (stuff around the buildings and AC units, etc.). Will keep looking for other vids!
What an absolute drag man I loved your work order vlogs, and I never once thought any work order showed anything but the area that needed repair. Whoever reported it should go touch grass. Still look forward to whatever content you make man.

Love your videos Dave, I’ve learned a lot from you and I’m really sad you have to stop. That said I have to say that I kinda expected something like that to happen, filming inside occupied apartments would eventually piss someone off. Don’t worry though, there’s plenty more you can film and we’ll be here to watch and help!
New viewer! I always thought about doing videos like you do even in occupied apartments but just asking “hey is it ok if I film my repair?” Just so I can create reference video for people, myself , and coworkers. I wonder if you could work something out where you have them sign a document where they acknowledge that you will be filming so that can’t go back and do what they did to you. That really sucks someone did that. There’s always one person that has to ruin it for all!
I did apartment maintenance in the 80s and watching your vlogs really brought back the satisfaction we got from repairing broken appliances etc. and the tenant appreciation.
One of the best feelings in the world is when you are troubleshooting a certain problem, you can't get it, you get pissed off because you can't get it, you call for help but there is no help, you keep troubleshooting to the point where frustration and emotions get the best of you, and then baaaam! You fix the problem. Bonus when the tenant or is watching you go through these emotions the entire time. Thanks for watching dmvitt
Thats really disappointing, the vlogs have been really interesting and entertaining. I'd say you've been really respectful to your company and tenants throughout, so bizarre to know what the complaint actually is and can be justified. Anyways, if there's no resolution, looking forward to future content and to learning more maintenance tips! Stay positive
They didn't want their nasty ass unit on display... Keep up the good work and that's why I don't do maintenance in apartment unit's. Commercial is not as needy.
I don't mind the neediness really. It's a challenge that I like. But ya, some units are worse than others for sure. But I never would point something like that out in a video. It's always been about the repair, not violating privacy.

That sucks I work in Denver and sometimes I send my residents a video on how to work a thermostat that they don’t get. Like our LG and Breburn ones and they appreciate it
Just saw this i’m so devastated that this happened. Shows how many haters there really is out there i’m sure it was one of the viewers, bunch of haters dave your one of the best maintenance techs i have come across, very knowledgeable technician i’ve learned alot from you & i hope i continue to do so whatever you do please don’t stop prove the haters your going to continue doing what you love & your channel will keep growing like you said find repairs in your place, friends, or vacant unit, everything you teach us is gold. And companies complain that they can’t find workers these days. How am I spouse to learn to repair a wide variety of items without some sort of teacher. Also, we need to as a society, stop taking anonymous complaints. Put your name to it, or it just gets ignored.
I've straight up asked residents before and all of them are cool about it. I technically don't need a release or permission to video myself making a repair, it's a very tricky situation. I'm just going to play ball as I really like my position at my company

I enjoyed the vlogs. I learned a ton and they were fun. Boo to the person who shut it down. I’ve never seen any tenants on your blog (there was a dog once). I will miss that content.

Damn that sucks but I did question how long would it be before someone told corporate you was filming inside occupied apartments. Shady people out there .what strange is my company use your video as a training video for new hires as a MT .that how i disc over your video and training. Keep your head up we will continue to follow you and support you what ever direction uou decide to take. I'm just amazed that you where not terminated considering the obvious.
dang what company uses my vids for training? lol don't have to answer but would like to give them a shout out :) I'm pretty conscious about reading policies and have never hidden the fact that I recorded videos (all with the intent to train and teach) - I was trying to give techs the training that MOST companies will never give them in a format that is fun to watch and at the same time relates to them :-( If I get terminated because of that so be it.
Sorry this happened You are very informative and knowledgeable. I learned a lot from you. I noticed this is upsetting for you however you should/must keep up the good work for your followers.

Pretty sure they don't care that I'm filming videos for educational purposes, when I get specific complaint(s) to headquarters and I hear about it that's a different story. I've seen this happen with other channels like mine, I honestly knew it was coming just hoped it wouldn't be this soon.

Keep following. The vlog is ending but the content will get better. I take video editing and recording very serious and this is going to enable me to spend more time on more focused repairs.
Just saw a couple videos today. Of the vlog i saw, there was not any identifying information such as apt number, name , photos of tenants, or anything like that. Kinda dumb why they had you shut it down. Probably pissed they weren’t getting a piece of the action 9either corporate or the tenant).
Do like the plumbing and HVAC techs on RU-vid. Be careful how much stuff is seen in the video. The other techs show mostly the floor when moving through the place. People might be worried someone can find out the location and burglarize their unit.
Ya. I watch several hvac and plumbing guys and seen the same thing happen where someone complains on them. It'd be nice if I could do something like Steve Lav does but he owns his own biz and can do what he wants

From my experience, that is 99% one of the coworkers. If that would come from a resident would happen long time ago but we know how most of the coworkers are today..anyway good luck your videos were very helpful!
A tenant may have had a security camera and caught the work you were doing on their camera and didn't like it for what ever reason. Especially if they were being billed for work.

I've asked for consent in the past especially if it's a repair that I know will help a lot of people. But if the resident is home, I normally don't film anything anyways.

Dave now days you need to be careful what you say and where you look in occupied apartment the wall have ears and eyes I can see the tenant point without their permission that’s a no-no for filming Smart move on your part before losing the job
