Interior decorating is a personal thing. You are creating your nest/home/sanctuary based on your tastes, likes and personality. You are not cookie cutter ed and your home should display it. You also evolve as you grow and your interior design will show that as well. In life as well as decorating, things never goes as planned so go with it because you end up in a better situation or you are being shown something that you need to learn. In this case, you were going for neutral interior decorating. It was a safe choice, but you were doing what is the fad at the moment and you were not expressing yourself in what you want to create. You are now being nugged in the right direction for you with color, thrifted and used items which not only reflects your tastes, but allows you to surround yourself with the style you love. I think you will be happier now that you have made this decision. It is all about knowing yourself and experimenting to get the right balance in your place and don't be afraid of change.

When I was at your age I have the same black dress, my mom sewed it for me for a party, oh my gosh you remind me for my twenties 😢
