Hi People! We have to help native born to be able to stay and survive in Ghana. He is doing a great deal of work by educating us on the dos and don't in Ghana. His informations are of great help. We must help our own. He will find it difficult in Ghana because of his huge family coupled with no good source of income. I'm a Ghanaian living abroad. I can tell you that it's not easy living in any country, no matter how cheap living expenses are if there is no source of good income. Let's help him, and to my fellow Ghanaians, Africans, etc help this man and his family because he is doing a great job with his beautiful family. Native born, Some of us are ready to donate something to you, and even help in one way or the other. Tell us how we can donate to help you.

My experience in Africa, Kenya specifically has taught me to let my wife deal with the locals. Prices are jacked up because as a Westerner they believe you are rich. A nice follow up to this video would be to have a local make the same inquire. I salute this family for leaving the Plantation for the Motherland. Great video!

nice apartment but as a Ghanaian I believe the price they are quoting you is entirely too high and a rip off considering the area is located. Some homeowners will change the price depending on who is renting if you are not local and dont speak the language they will get over you easy,so not worth the price. If you compare the prices to us dollars you will always think its cheap .

Exactly - you need to send someone to NEGROtiate for you. I called with a USA Accent in JA and they told me $300 More than when my cousin called. The same house I rented is $650 but my friend who is Jamaican pay $500 with same floor plan plus an extra bathroom.

Brother, make sure you buy a plot of land soon . Then start your own house little by little . Everyone is moving to the outskirts of Accra , areas like Kasoa , Amasaman, Samsam, Oyibi, East Legon Hills , Dodowa , Afienya and so on . $1250 to $5000 can buy you a nice plot. Which will be 70ft by 100 ft size plot of land . Then you put up a budgeted 2 bedroom house on it with size between 80 to 100 sq meters .
@friedrich2469
@friedrich2469 6 лет назад
Buddy Odell the duration of building your own house depends on your budget and the size of the building plan . As long as you have the money you might finish within schedule .

Talking about the ashaley botwe apartment I mean the first one. The neighbourhood seem to get flooded whenever it rains. Take a critical look at the streets. It could be a good breeding ground for mosquitoes and this could pose serious threat to your kids' health. Don't forget to check if the neighbourhood gets flooded when it rains when renting an apartment.

John you are the man bruh, I'm a retired educator really thinking about relocating to Ghana. Did know how inexpensive it is to actually live there. My retired check would make me live like a king lol. All I need is a 1Bedroom secure nice apartment. I'm also thinking about still teaching part time or maybe starting my own technical school. One of my former students from Ghana insisted upon me living with his family in Ghana, but I'm from the U,S and you know how we love our own space lol. Bruh i love what you're doing. I watch every video you post and wish I would have done the same when my 3 daughters were kids as well. Nevertheless I'm gonna live out my dream of returning to the mother land. I've had the big house in suburban Atlanta with 7 bedrooms and a finished basement. Now it just the two of us here and I actually don't know how 95% of the house looks like. I'm only 55 so there's plenty of time to move on to the second career. Maybe I could use my expertise to do so good with others that are interested in learning.
@NativeBorne

Native Borne thanks John, that means a lot coming from a young conscious brother like yourself. Man I really admire you and your wife. I look forward to watching your videos on a daily basis. Before I retired I started a technical school in Metro Atlanta for refugees in the local area. Those were the most respectable group of men I've ever met in my life. They had a genuine love for education and nearly all graduated with honors and are now gainfully employed making more money than I. Some are even self-employed contractors.

Dude, Ghana is a developing country, like 80 percent of countries on earth. Dusty roads are not a sign of 'corruption' but of the fact that they are a developing country which has only been independent for half a century, and is therefore still building up its infrastructure. So don't expect it to look like the USA or Japan or something.

Have you visited the country that you would like to move to yet? If not, that is the FIRST step...an informed decision. The unknown becomes a lot more clear after an extended visit. My daughter and I stayed in Kenya for 2 months. The pros, cons, and realities of immigration and what daily life for YOU (and your family) would be like are things that are crucial to understand before exiting.

That is definitely a great start, however, I believe the tourist attraction of visiting is far more diverse than actually living in that particular place, would you agree? Do you think it's important to have other family there prior to moving? Nonetheless, visiting prior to moving is imperative, as a means of familiarizing ones self with the way of life. I would recommend steering clear of tourist attractions in any country you visit, definitely. The tourist attractions, hotels, resorts, etc have nothing to do with daily living. What I mean is staying in a residential area (an Airbnb, is a good opportunity to do this). Beyond that, learning to navigate transportation, shopping at the market and preparing food, experiencing prolonged water shortages or power outages, waste management, furniture, local languages outside of English, the art of negotiating and bargaining, laundering your clothes, having a social life, there is a lot that will make you very aware of just how americanized you really are. I don't know anything about the experience of having family in any other country, so I can't answer that. I imagine that would be nice to have relatives there who could help you navigate the country and be a social outlet.

TheElizabeth125 sorry but I disagreed. Ghana is a growing country that is only 61 years in independence age. It has taken 100’s of years for Europe and the americas to transform to the standards of today. Slowly but surely, Ghana will also advance to modern standards but more importantly Ghana will maintain and apply its cultural. ✊🏾 🇬🇭

konkonbishl I agree that there are many domestic needs in Ghana (Including modernisation of infrastructure) rather than debating this topic, the question is what are we going to do about it? The government can only do so much. Small / medium enterprises usually contribute to the facilitation of these issues that we are addressing.

Nice apartment bro, but i think before you rent those high price apartment you should consider your monthly income in ghana first. If you convert the cedis(ghana currency) into dollars it looks cheaper but bro it add up faster. Those who rent those high price apartment in ghana are high class and foreign nationals who are there for business or those who are being paid in $ or who want to live in ghana for short time but not the average Ghanaian like myself. The question is how many Ghanaians earn ghs2200( $400)a month? Accra is expensive. The same apartment or house u can get it in koforidua abou half the price.

the amenities there compared to U.S. rentals are definitely something to talk about as a plus. But I'm sure if one has time to shop around one may be able to find another of equal value but even cheaper cost. All depends upon the individual and what they are willing to put into their research for their desired comfort.

Exactly. Don't be fooled. There are many much more nicer apartments and neighbourhoods in Accra than what was shown in this video. All depends on what you are willing to spend.

Good job. You showed places that are realistic for the average person coming from abroad that are also clean and safe. The back up water tanks are the key. For those who are saying that these are expensive they are forgetting that if you live in a cheap place without back up water and no security your health is going to be at risk. If you are coming to Ghana to go and fetch water a few miles away then feel free to go for cheaper but Ghana has come a long way and not everyone accepts certain struggles as a way of life.

Its so cool how you can naturally shift your accent to ghanian-english. I feel some people are just naturally gifted at picking ul languages/accents and can absorb them like a sponge. And some other people can just do it under pressure/survival instinct. Its a very useful if you plan on moving to a different country. You remind me of the African American woman who married a Nigerian man and has lived there for 50 something years... shes un her 70s now if shes still alive. Her accent sounded american mixed with nigerian. Like the sentence structure sounded like pidgin english but then her accent was american. It was so cool.. even her mannerisms had changed after being there so long.

We have petty crimes here but it's not as the USA. You don't have to worry about guns, gun violence, school shooting and many more. Alot of us haven't seen or heard a gun shot before. You just need to learn the country and be Aware of your surroundings like you will do any where. Justice is a times served by the community you live in if anyone should attack you. You just have to yell thief or attacker and you will see bunch of crowd before police arrive. Its bit always a good scene if you have soft heart like me. I don't believe in jungle justice here but we agree some child molesters deserve it.

One of the things I don't like about Ghana (probably more so in the Greater Accra region) is that houses have little to no grass, and tall walls around them with barbed wire on top. You start to wonder is this a house or a prison.

We are on the other side uganda. Hopefully if everything goes planned we will be back in September over there. The power went off where we we're at back back on with in 30mins sometimes a couple of hours. The renting in uganda is similar you will either pay 2,3 or 4months upfront. I had paid $145/month for a 2 bed room and a 2 bed room house $87/month but the house was more close to village life. I love your videos very informative and these apartments are beautiful. Thank you for the apartment tours.
