Apartment Update... 

When I was in my early 20’s I lived in a shit hole of an apt. It was so stressful on me, my kids, my relationship....I could not wait to get out of there! Well, many years later I sometimes have to drive past that place and I always think, “I cannot believe I lived there and I’m so glad it’s now just a distant memory”! Soon you’ll feel the same way! I'm watching this nearly two years later and I just want to say I am so happy for you. I don't know a ton about your personal life rn, but I know that the situation from this video has passed, you're in a great apartment in Chicago, and you've been making fire anti-mlm videos. i'm in a rut myself with covid and other life situations, but seeing your journey has been a source of hope and a good reminder that bed things don't last forever and that it gets better! thank you so much for sharing the ups and downs❤️

I worked at an apartment complex for 2 years and we have to give 48 hours notice if we're entering an apartment (an example of when we do this is if we do a quarterly maintenance inspection or if the fire department is coming to inspect all the fire extinguishers and smoke alarms). When we do give notice we say "We will enter during these hours on this date for this purpose" and we send in two maintenance people together because that holds them accountable (one person could steal and nobody would ever know or if they had to enter a dangerous situation or if it becomes a he said she said circumstance then there's at least two people who were there). Also, if you put in a maintenance request at my apartment complex we ask "do we have permission to enter" and if the resident says yes then maintenance knocks 3 times and goes in if you don't answer. If you say no then maintenance has to call when they're outside your apartment and knock. If you don't answer they can't go in!

It hurts me to see you like this because you're always so bubbly and happy and I know exactly how you feel. We lived in a SHIT hole for a year where someone was actually murdered and blood seeped under the surrounding tenant's doors. Bulletholes in the walls and windows. A dumpster caught on fire under our living room window and nearly blew the glass. It will pass, just like you said. It's okay to show your subs that you're having a hard time - we're all human. And we all support you.

It's great that you have a lawyer but for those reading this that don't know one or can't afford one, if this happens to you, contact your county's housing authority or Department of Housing. Ignore the comments from your post trolls. What your landlord (company) is doing isn't legal. You shouldn't have to suck up anything. However, if I were you, I'd get anything and everything of value out of that apartment (maybe back to your parents house) in case this does escalate. I'd seriously just move home and call it quits there. It's not worth the torment that you are going through. Check your with your lawyer at what point you can just move and stop paying. The fact that you have that noise that wasn't disclosed is interference with peaceful use. BTW, money saving tip at your age. Instead of renting an apartment, rent a master bedroom (bathroom attached) in someone's house where you get use of common spaces like kitchen and washer/dryer and utilities are included in the price. Find someone who is a business professional where you have alternating schedules. It costs a fraction of the price, you practically get the place to yourself, you take turns cleaning (common areas) so it is less work, you have more amenities for the price, you get to live in a nicer neighborhood and it is generally a lot less drama.

Also I have never seen anyone's makeup stay so intact when they're crying so kudos to you babe.

THANK YOU for posting this and being so relatable, life is so stressful especially when it comes to the roof over your head and your safety and just being concerned about your belongings and scared if you leave someone will mess with them. Seeing someone else go through this (although I’m sorry you had to) makes me feel better about how stressed I was when I was put in the same situation.

So sorry that this is happening to you. Being young myself, I understand how it feels to not be taken seriously and to not trust anyone with anything I say. I will admit, it’s nice to see a raw video like this, coming from you. Like you said, watching seemingly perfect videos of seemingly perfect people makes me feel like I should be where they are and feeling the way they portray to feel. I'm also living in a shitty apt (& also had no idea what I was truly getting into) and so much other stuff and I just keep telling myself...it's all temporary, it'll all turn around and I've just been focusing on the good things! make a list of what you're grateful for, take the time to do things outside, etc. I was also saying I have no outlets & just stuck in my own unhappiness but just by your mentality alone you can turn it around in the meantime! I just want to give you literally the BIGGEST fucking hug ever. I feel your stress through my screen. I was in this position. I’m 20 years old and my husband and I left to Louisiana when we were 18 years old. He joined the military and we ended up having a baby, the landlords were jerks... needless to say, I prayed so hard for god to get me out of that situation. Now we live in a beautiful place living so comfortably WITH 3 times more opportunities that we have had when we were at fort Polk. We are paying off our debt and are looking at opportunities to build a house! There is TRULY a reason for everything. This is the second video I have watched of you, and you’ve gained a subscriber. My daughter lives in Chesterfield, Illinois because of the expense of Chicago. ( She goes to college in downtown Chicago.) If you get out of the lease maybe you two can look into those options. I hope you get out of that horrible place. Good luck.

Oh girl, I totally understand about stress & things piling on while trying to be positive.Theres NOTHING wrong with crying on camera, its so helpful to others who relate, inc myself. Im old enough to be your mom lol My hubby & I have been around the block- been thru ALOT over the years(married x26yrs)Each situation is painful & hard, but always a learning lesson. This situation you are in is ridiculous and I’m going through some stuff too where I just don’t know a solution. So I guess I’m trying to say thank you for making me feel like I’m not the only one who deals with roadblocks and I hope you are comforted knowing others are in a similar boat floating right next to ya. When I was in college I had super shitty landlords too. In one case they sold the property I lived in to another company without telling me, so when I went to pay them they were like 'you don't pay us anymore, you need to pay someone else ;) ' and I had to dig into who I have to pay my rent to. Second time there was a smoke alarm with a low battery and it would emit a beeping sound every like ten minutes. The thing is we had shitty drop down ceilings in a very old house, so the smoke alarm was most likely hidden in the ceiling, and it was driving me and my neighbors bonkers because we didn't know where it was coming from. When I made a complaint and filled out a maintenance request it took them 3 MONTHS to fix it AFTER I moved out!! Both of those properties were owned by Discovery Properties in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and when I tried to leave reviews on Facebook they deleted them. Everyone I went to college with who had them as their landlords hated them.

Totally get where you are coming from!! My husband and I's first apartment became infested with cockroaches and it was so stressful!! Management didn't believe us and refused to take care of the problem. Totally get how you feel girl! Praying everything works out and you're able to get the heck out of there!

You will get through this girl! I had THE WORST experience with our previous landlord!!! Come to find out a previous tenant had committed suicide in our house and we were never told by the landlord!! I just so happened to be talking to out neighbor and she told me and she thought he had told us! And not to get into detail but we would have NEVER rented the house because my husband had dealt with two different suicides in his childhood, so that doesn’t sit well with him! Not to mention when our air conditioner broke he was at a conference in Florida and acted like I was such an “inconvenience” for calling him when the person came to fix it and IT WAS STILL 90 degrees in our house in the dead of summer in North Carolina! Then our pipes froze in the winter and we had no running water, and we have a child so it wasn’t like it was just me and my husband! And he had the audacity to tell me to just go to my parents and brush our teeth and take showers 😡 Needles to say we moved and now have the BEST landlords ever!! But to top it all off he REFUSED to give us our deposit back and our lease was up! Sending positive vibes your way hun!

When I first moved out I moved into an apartment with someone that I couldn’t stand living with after like a week. I moved out & had to keep paying rent on the place because I couldn’t find someone to sublease. It took me like 6 months but I FINALLY got out of it & the second I did, I decided to never move in with a friend ever again. youll get through this! I thought that stress would never end but it eventually did. I relate to you so hard about how you’re feeling in this whole video, I’m praying for you 💋

You need to move to Dearfield..it was a good community for my sister and her husband when they lived there. It was a good place for families and you guys could live there. It seemed pretty safe!

i feel so bad for you hun I 100 percent know how you feel. I did a storytime on my channel awhile back called my crazy neighbour. I went through HELL living there, i was scared all the time and had to get papers filled out by the doctor to get out of there. It was causing me so much anxiety. i went through it for years being harrased threatened etc. you need to feel safe and happy where you lay your head at night. The place we call home is suppose to be where we find peace, and comfort. Im praying that your able to get out of your lease and feel safe and happy again💜

Also, quick (maybe not so quick) sidenote. A lot of the problems you described I kind of brushed off as trivial, becauuse to me they are, just like some of the things I consider to be problems would be considered trivial to you. But when it comes to having your property destroyed, I think we could all agree that would be extremely stressful for anyone to experience. I'm a huge control freak and can't stand my stuff being touched, so I felt you deeply on that on, girl.

My husband and I moved from a tiny town where every little place was about the same safety wise and everything like that so when we moved to a big city we wanted to buy a house to save money in the long run because we where planning on being here for awhile for school and everything. We hired a real estate agent who had lived and sold houses here for 20 years so we thought she would be amazing in finding the perfect house in the perfect area since we knew nothing about this city. Well fast forward and we find a cute house in a cute neighborhood for the right price so we decided to go ahead and close on it. It wasn't until afterwards we realized the area that we ended up living in was pretty bad. There's a lot of drug stuff, multiple shootings and murders 😳 and every surrounding area is bad. Its just so disheartening because we didn't do the research we should have because we trusted someone to do it for us. At least you didnt sign a mortgage!

I had to stick out my lease...as well as my roommates part of the lease after she trashed her bedroom and bathroom. Kylie- We have all been through the phase of wishing we were somewhere in life that we arent. Trust me, TAKE YOUR TIME being a kid. The parts that you see in some people's lives are not always what they seem. Adult life is hard. Really hard. I rushed things and find myself missing my child good and I'm only 25. You have plenty of time and the more time you take to be successful and focus on yourself, the more successful and happy you will be. Remember, every phase has to come to an end. The awkward time between high school and true adulthood sucks. You're doing great girl. 💜

These leasing agents and manager are awful. I worked in a luxury apartment complex as a leasing agent and then as an assistant manager. I never would have treated any tenants like that. Sure, sometimes they were annoying...but I would not be rude like that. Patience and compassion is key. As a leasing agent, there really was like nothing I could do (just like those asshole leasing agents) but I would always send an email to the manager about the issue and tell the resident to expect a call back from either me or the manager with a response. I went to bat against the property manager a few times to help my residents. It makes me sad when people forget that people are just people and treat people with respect!

The fact that people are trying to come for you oh myyyyy. Like at the beginning of this story I wasn't 100% convinced, but this is NOT you being dramatic so don't doubt yourself. You are sooooo in the right here. When I saw the pictures of your furniture like, how can someone fight with that evidence? Do you girl and win this shit

I am so glad you talked to an attorney (and even better that its a family friend). You will be ok girl! I know this is a rough situation right now, but it will pass and you will find a nicer place. Maybe look into buying a house. You and Jarvis can get pre-approved with a bank and see what you can afford (before you go house hunting). I've rented since I was 20 years old. I finally decided to get pre-approved to see what I can afford. I found a small ranch house for me and my dog in PA and my mortgage w/taxes is only $30 more than my rent payment. Your attorney will get you out of that place and the nightmare will be over. I know you shouldnt have to do this, but maybe go back and stay w/your parents for a few days until this gets resolved. You shouldnt have to live like you are .. especially w/the stench of a dead animal in your apartment. I agree w/you that they probably put something in the vent. They are probably trying to get you to leave on your own. Hang in there girl! We are all here for you to vent, listen and help if we can!!!! Try and keep your chin up! :)

Kylie my first apartment at the age of 19 was not a good experience ! The rent was cheap but I was young and thought it was the best place ! It turned out to be nightmare ! I had roaches and mice 😩. The neighbors were the worst .. horrible ! I lived there 3 months and had to move cause I was always upset ! I lost so much weight cause I wouldn’t eat anything that was in apartment grossed out !! You will be ok ! Remember no one had perfect life trust me !!! No one has everything.. trust me !

This will pass beautiful! And you will laugh about it one day when you look back! You will get out of this shitty situation so be positive and look forward to that day! I’ve been having a rough year also and I need help but I’m scared to reach out for help.. I’ve been slowly working up the courage to ask for help! I’ll pray for you and plz pray for me! 🖤

I used to tel my parents everything and when they would degrade me, they’d use the information I’d tell them against me. They did it for the last time when I was 19, then they threw me out of their house. I’m 21 and I can’t thank them enough for what they did. Although I will never thank them to their faces because I have too much and they were abusive.

We only found this place bc it's foster parents family rental. We are needing to move bc of some one trying to break in and ppl coming over unannounced. I am so over it. I've been living in a shit hole, too. Bugs and bug shit all over. I dealt with neighbors who played loud music for awhile too. That got better but there is a table right outside our window. People sit outside sometimes talking. Once was at four am. Another time, 2 or 2 something am. Don't like the mgmt either. We are trying to get out of here.

I can't wait to move out of my apartment. I recently got passed up for an apartment to this ratchet girl on section 8. Nothing wrong with section 8 but she's loud, she's been a problem for other tenants since she moved in and I've been here for over 10 years. the building manager says I can get out of my lease but I don't trust her. So I'm stuck until my lease is over

Starting a month before I moved from my last apartment I would have my bathroom reek of pot. It was awful. That was in Indiana where it is also illegal.

I'm dealing with a shitty car issue as we speak.. short story: I bought a car from a dealership that went out of buisness a week after purchase..I got the loan through wells fargo..the dealership never paid off the existing loan that was owed on my vehicle from the previous person..so there ended up being a lien on the car...I went in to wells Fargo right after this happens to make sure they owned the vehicle...they lied and said the had the title..which they dont. Wells Fargo has been awful they keep demanding me to make payments..they act like I'm a bother..this whole time I've been paying wells Fargo for a car they don't own..i stopped making payment 3 monts ago..I bought the car almost 2 years ago..and have been getting temp plates this entire time and thankfully it's almost resolved..but damn!!! They are a lot of shady companies out there...

I fully understand, I've been through landlord issues no one would believe. Do not forget to tell the lawyer about the smell - I guarantee it isn't your imagination! Document every tiny little thing! All the best to you!

I live out side of boston and rent is 2000 for an ok place im not sure what it cost in Chicago suburbs but i know katherine lights lives in florida and its cheaper coffee break with dani has a nice house but she lives in texas. A house like that were i live would be 600 thousand so you will be fine and if you move home with or with out your boyfriend it will be fine it looked like u had fun before u moved 😁

You should have said to that manager after he called you by your first name "it's Ms. (your last name) just so you know" lol and "you're the ones who break laws not me" walked away like a bad B. My moms in a nursing home and her nurse attempted to murder here and ive been trying to sell everything i own to get the money to pay a lawyer to sue the facility and criminally peruse the nurse... id give anything to have a friend lawyer to help.... Basically, im pretty salty that you can get a lawyer for patio furniture and I cant for attempted murder.... Lol but im determined even if it means selling absolutely everything to make sure her nurse never takes care of another patient and that the facility does better background checks and hires good nurses.

I'm not sure if they have this where you live... but my fiancee and I are about to move into an income restricted complex. You have to make 35k or less combined. And its not a ghetto place.. it's gated and everything is modern and updated

Hi Kylie, I know exactly how u feel :/ I was a little over a yr ago in your situation. I had to live in a complex for about 3 yrs until we were able to move! Mantience would try to come in our house unannounced, the first night we slept there a worker came in at 8 am and scared the ×××× out of me(I was home alone) he just said oops I didn't know you moved in already and left. We had these neighbours who lived in front of us whom acted crazy asf!!! Always loud(at 9pm 1am 4am 7am at all hrs) their kids ran around in their undies climbing tress screaming and breakin into people's vehicles, on weekends the adults would get drunk and fight, There was also this couple( they were in their 40s) and they would hit each other and argue in the middle of the street late at night!The landlord tried to raise our rent randomly many times threating us, one night coming home from work this older man who didn't live near or in my building tried following me and I cursed him out ( because he tried to grab me) , the security guard( in his mid or late 20s) tried to ask out these 15/16 yr old girls :/ , Mantience would never properly fix things( our balcony door, stove, sink etc) and would stink like alcohol when they did come! Tjese random kids who happened to be the manager's grandkids would run around randomly knocking on doors knocked on mine one morning at 10am my sick newborn was asleep and they woke him so I called the office and the manager said that I cussed them out xD I just opened my door glared at them and closed my door. She said not to mess wit her poor grandkids ever again! So much more happened but that would take forever to tell lol. You will feel so much better when you get out of there :) don't lose hope and stay strong 🌞💕

As far as cheeper options, I don't know exactly how it is where you are but I know where I live renting a house or half of a house is a huge money saver and they tend to have a lot more space! I don't know if that's an option but I really hope you can figure something out. Sending you so much love. You WILL get through this.

Aww this breaks my heart. I want to take your pain away, being an adult is hard- but that’s not “adulting” that’s people taking advantage of you and you knew you were right so you fought back. That’s what you have to do. I found you when i was in a dark emotional place and you are so kind, caring, sweet and you don’t take shit and that’s what we love about you. Keep it up.
