Apeks Luna Mini Vs Divepro S10 | Dive Brief
In this episode of the Dive Brief we take a look at the high-end Luna Mini from Apeks and the S10 from Divepro. On paper both do a similar if not the same job but when it comes to the cost they are vastly different so we take a look at why that is...

*Luni Mini* - bit.ly/3hPvgRr *S10* - bit.ly/3iDdFeW *Dive Torches* - bit.ly/2UrRXCy So which one would you go for? Do you think the Luni mini is worth the price? Or does the S10 do the job for its price? Let us know below!

I like the S10, I have everything from Big Blues to Tovatec fusions. I don't really see the cost benefit in the more expensive torches and I use all ranges. I see students here in Florida using the $45 amazon dive torches and they hold their own just as well. However, I wouldn't trust a night open water dive or a tech backup torch to an unknown manufacturer, so it depends what your using it for. Always try to buy from your LDS though! They have all ranges and all prices, They carry proven technology, and they need our support!!! keep up the great videos!

Would depend on how it was used. If primary light for night dives, go big or go home, literally (Luni mini). If a BCD pocket light for overhangs and such or as a back up to a primary light for night diving, S10.

When you unclip a secondary light (assuming you've tied a boltsnap on), do you just hold it in your hand and hope you don't drop it? Or do some people clip it to a wrist strap D ring or something clever? Thanks.

Well, I would buy 2 S10's - carry both - one to use, other as a backup 😃

This is the kind of content I love Simply Scuba making! #askmark Please can you do a similar video with the Luna (mid range) Apeks torch?

What is the depth rating of each of them?

I've got the Luna mini. Use it all the time. Worth the money in my opinion. I also use the strobe as it makes it easy to follow me in low visibility.

I’m looking to purchase the mini as a backup/primary for travel. How is the beam angle?
@welwellwell71
@welwellwell71 2 года назад
@@angelosyoutube hi mate, beam angle is 16 degrees. I used it on a wreck penetration dive yesterday and the brightest setting is too bright. Great torch and I found it gave me plenty of light. Beam angle can't be adjusted though. I use it out of the water as a regular torch when I need it. The chip regulates the heat so you can use it all the time. I'm a big fan. If you buy one, just remember to soak it in fresh water after a dive, it ensures that the connectors won't erode.

@@welwellwell71 Much appreciated. I’ll be getting one shortly. All the best.

Still like my Simply Scuba Mk1 as a fine back-up light.

Any tips for a good affordable tech backup light. Halcyon or heser seem a little pricy

I’ve been using the mares XR backup light for the past two years. Made for technical diving, Low weight and rugged body, twist on activation, 8 degrees beam, 12500 lux at 1 meter, 850 lumens, burn time of 2.25 hours, waterproof to 100 meters. It can be mounted to the mares XR or any other hard hat for cave/wreck penetrations. Inexpensive and extremely reliable, I bought mine for 100 dollars at the time, it now sells for 80 dollars. Not only a great backup light, it’s also a good and competent primary light. I’ve used it as a primary in a few night dives in cold water and low visibility without any problem.

I can recommend two options: LED ONE, a classic backup light, no electronic inside powered with 3 AA cells and made to last, and a bit more advanced (with electronic inside and powered with and rechargeable 18650 battery) LED STINGRAY both by Ammonite System ammonitesystem.com/compact-torches.html

You never have to worry about changing the battery, just buy a new one when the battery goes bad since you can't change it...

Value for Money aspect is clearly making divepro the winner. The price difference never ever is justified.

if only it wasnt the used car salesman again ,,, I knew what the conclusion would be ,, now lets talk profit margins , you missed that out of the segment . at 250 your into metal sub and canister lights and all sorts that makes the choice a tad trickier. but a good video non the less.
