I just got these super tweeters… so smooth, open, real, unlimited. They don’t sound bad off axis, they just seamlessly hide. They don’t sound harsh directly aimed. These round out the sound so well they even make the bass sound better. It says 150 watts max, but I don’t know how they will handle my 400 watt amps. I have these sitting on top of already tall Tekton Design MOAB towers aimed down to my seating position.

@@mcbowler play a high fq sine wave from youtube (or a tone generator even better) in just one channel (L or R) and adjust the height of your listening position (slowly moving up and down). if you hear substantial changes in sound intensity you have the answer.. i guess it would work w/ white noise too... ps: your speakers look impressive :)

They were the only game in town for it, that patent stood for a long time. They were crossed over like 3 octaves below what this one is. I wanted to build one but it was too much work so just made a regular ribbon.

I had a pair of Maggies for 35 years MG2s... and 4 years ago I purchased a pair of Polk LSIm 705 ( 707 was their highest tier).. I pulled the maggies out the other day and was amazed at the spatial sound stage. Plugged my Polk 705 back in and they were missing something.. I was going to buy the Maggies LRS+ but saw these super tweeters ( same price as the LRS+).. I purchased the Aperions and my god what a difference in my Polks.. wow massive area of sound and a crispness that just blew me away.. and now watching this video I feel even better about the purchase.. Nice job!

If you like tweaking... Pull those cotton balls out. Go flip over a sofa or chair and cut some dust covers off the bottom and size it up to put over your tweeters. Cotton balls are stopping most of the sound. Dust cover will reduce the brightness but still let some of the high frequency through. One layer? Two layers? figure out how many layers to take out enough for YOUR ears. I'd cut a big square so it looks like a grill for the top.

I have the Tekton MOAB speakers. They are great. They have the upgrades too. But I wanted them a bit brighter, so I added the Pyramid. Same exact ones you are talking about. WHOOOOA! It really did make a huge difference! Totally worth it for 30 bucks. Then, By coincidence I actually bought the same exact Skar 600 watt tweeters…. I have not hooked them up yet. I don’t know how I will do it yet…..I think they are designed for car audio…. BUT I’m curious to see if it’s too big, and overwhelming for my system….maybe I can build a box or something….

Z, Z, Z. Emergency comment. Ive already given the Grado Sr80X some time and really enjoyed it, I thought the improvements were a success. I ordered the Grado Sr125X and can say there is substantial improvements in not only detail but slam and girth/meatyness. And the thicker cable is less jenky and over hangs better. I believe the 225 and 325 are probably even better but at $175, the 125 is a steal. I know you'll probably review the 80, but dont sleep on the 125. Its a step up from the already phenomenal 80

Those up firing Ohm tweeters are probably designed to hit a flat ceiling at the same distance from each of the tweeters and the same angle. So they would possibly work far on side walls in that room with its slanted ceiling.

I always thought whizzers were just the cone that you attach to the dust cap to make a pseudo tweeter. But I've also heard those called "whizzer cones".

Those bullets super tweeters used to be carried by radio shack in ear make all their speakers and components for them and this was back in the seventies period I had one that I put in my car and I bridged between channels we hell ACDC came alive

I ended up bying a used pair of the Canadian made Space-Tech Lab SP-ST1 super tweeter. very nice sparkle sound PLUS I can ajust the volume to harmonise with my floostanders.

That is not what a whizzer is lol. You know the extra cone in the middle of a full range speaker, commonly seen on car speakers or Fostex's etc? That's a whizzer cone. I can see how that would get mixed up though, since the purpose of a whizzer cone is to mechanically increase the HF response of a full range driver.

The idea is that good tweeters give you bigger soundstage, better voices and make the sound more coherent in some cases but obviously that's not possible because by adding these you've changed the impedance of the speakers and the power it needs, you also need to time align it with the tweeter in the speaker so there's no weird sound coming out and then there's the fact that these take more space and stands and if you don't use stands the distance from the woofers to the new tweeter is big. More alignment and matching issues.

the super tweeters are NOT whizzers. on single drivers there are sometimes open cones attached at the voice coil level to extend the highs more than the integral cone can produce. they are called whizzer cones. ...hifitommy

Any chance you'll be receiving the TRI Starshine for review? I've only been able to read one review of them thus far and they described the sound as very "analogue", whatever that means. The graph looks pretty damn flat right up to 8K, dips a bit then spikes back up at 11-12k. I'm curious what your evaluation of them would be.

Do SUPER TWEETER have amp built in like subwoofer? So speakers you are plug it into with the super tweeter does not get power by the main speakers amp.
