Thank you, Teagan. I have a GSO version of this scope, but unfortunately, I ran into some issues which left me homeless and I lost almost everything I owned. I still have this, a ZWO Zenithstar 71, and a Celestron AVX (minus the power supplies, and hand controller). I also lost my guide scope and camera, all my eyepieces, diagonal, etc.

This GSO 6" (Apertura branded) is really a great little scope - mine has been a real learning curve, and by adding a flattener, nybimium filter and -t-ring tilt adjuster with a 60D Canon has given great results at a relatively low cost. Set on a HEQ5 Pro, it is portable, and relatively easy to collimate using a Baader laser collimator and cheshire. I bolted one of my dive weights to the underside of the Vixen bar to avoid pushing the scope so far up (as in this video). Great images here, thank you, very encouraging. Update: I purchased a PLL EagleCore (guiding is excellent) and upgraded to a Canon 850D (using Canon EOS Utility) and Cartes du Ciel (Sky Charts). Still a fun OTA for galaxies!

I have had this scope for 2 years and the GSO for over 5. Love the results, the GSO I bounced off my tripod and when with the Apertura 6RC. I use a MoonLite focuser with my home made electronic focusing via Bluetooth to my C++ prog on my computer. Still love the scope for crisp images and it durability. Only have fine tune the secondary twice in years. So pretty big plus in my book. PS get a Howie Glasser Colliminator well worth the cost.

Fantastic video and final M27 image, you covered so much and I especially enjoyed the quality B-roll :) They don't all arrive perfectly collimated but the aplanatic field of view is well worth a bit of tinkering. I'm convinced part of the problem is a touch of focuser sag, so I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the use of focuser tilt plates with these GSO based RC's? Again great video, very much enjoyed watching, subbed!

Awesome Video! I relatively new to astrophotography an getting a 8" RC soon. Have a 65mm refactor so looking for some more reach. I seen that you are in the Cincinnati area, me too. Kings Island is killing me with the lights....

This is a nice ota to consider. Another Apertura ota I'm looking at is the 72mm APO with field flattener. Would you consider making a video of that product? I haven't seen or heard much about it.

Could you give a bit more detail as to why an electronic auto focuser doesn't work? Is it that the focuser that comes with the scope doesn't have a way to mount it? Are there any 3rd party focusers that do support an EAF, which could be purchased to replace the one that comes with the scope?
