Damn, I just realized OPT going under meant that Astrobackyards telescopes went under too? I still have the original Radian Raptor 61 which apparently lost a lawsuit for naming rights to a hiking company. Which is why it was just called the Radian 61. But now both telescopes arent even available from AgenaAstro. So is that in limbo?
Hi, thanks for sharing your review. Looks like a well constructed scope. It's great timing, I am actually looking for portable scope that is a bit easier to move around and set up than my 10" Sct and 130mm Refractor I have been using for years. I see a new Apertura in my future! Cheers!
I like the Elephant Trunk Nebula as it's visible year round being circumpolar, I preferred the natural color one though. Mu Cephei a supergiant red star (3rd or 4th largest in the galaxy) is on the edge of the Nebula. It is worth a high power look when conditions allow.
The price is unbelievable. $999 right now. I haven’t tested it or anything but it beats the competition, in paper, and according to this review. Trevor, of AstroBackyard, didn’t design this one. Only the 61mm Radian Raptor. This one looks better, bigger and cheaper than the 61mm unit. Worth mentioning: ZWO offers the 65mm Petzval for the same price. Askar too.
The show is great but as a review I don't get it. Narrowband test on new 5 element telescope? Kidding? What about color correction? PSF, are stars soft or pinpoint? No refocusing. What about pixel peeping into the image corners? Is the focuser robust? Should I buy it? or maybe my Orion ST 80 is good enough? Oh well actually it is pretty good in narrowband :D
@@GalacticHunter thanks for the answer. I bet Stella is the director and executive producer in most episodes, so acting too could be too much sometimes. I get it 😅
I'm noticing you took the beloved FRA500 off the mount for the video and since you are one of the few people I've seen with experience on several scopes I'm interested in I am wondering if you had to choose between the following which would you prefer: The FRA500, the Apertura 75, an Askar V, or an Fra400. I am currently using an 8" SCT but would like to add a wide field scope to the mix. I think it's a win with any but I like your channel so much I thought I'd ask.
