my friend used to think he was the shit at Brawl. He kicked our asses almost every match, but we are all casual players. We're no where as good as these people. But my friend was convinced he was the best with Metaknight and he was convinced he could come in first in a competitive tournament. When one was held at the local university, he went thinking he'd win. He came in dead last. Now we never stop giving him shit.
I just read a comment that reminded me of those people who are still unexposed to this top level play. It makes me chuckle. I recently met a guy like this. His mind was blown after I showed him some of the pro combo videos. Now I'm training him. Btw if you happen to become curious I have matches of myself on here. I'm NOT pro but I'm working on it as well
i was able to watch most of the second day, and pretty much stayed up to 4 am till they finished the tournament.. Salem is a beast. He dosen't drop a set all apex :o
While Brawl is slower, there's a lot of anticipation and reward. Melee's much faster and often flashy, but the pacing leaves less room for anticipation. I used to think Melee matches were shallow and quick, but I grew to like them. Like you, I just didn't understand it. Put aside the whole "Melee vs Brawl" war going on, and just try to enjoy the show as an individual, and you'll eventually understand it. It's an acquired taste that you need to be patient to appreciate, but you will.
I wonder is he a machine, at the end I thought he smiled and was happy then I saw he was just neutral...its one thing being focused but he is a ROCK. How much does 1st place pay you...perhaps he is winning the money for family or something important, maybe that is why he is unmoved
Spamming of a certain ability isn't such a bad thing in itself, it's the nature of the ability. It can help players learn how to counter a certain player or play style. But with tornado, there's no way to get around it, so there's no way to learn from it, and it involves no skill whatsoever. ZSS down smash or moves similar can be avoided and worked around. Which means the player spamming the move can be countered, unlike MK tornado. Which is why i think he should be banned.
It's also an unavoidable move that can move across the stage and is protected from every angle. Don't even act like that isn't OP as fuck. And it's certainly not comparable to a .blank range - one directional down smash.
Shuttle loop is such an easy move to punish in the hands of a top player, when im playing FOW im scared to shuttle loop him it's scary to throw it out to a character that can spike
ok and now count her down smash or side smash. and compare it to tornado. i understand if you think meta knight is OP but that he only spam nado is ridicolous. cause many other characters spam any other ability. you only realize the nado more because its a huge animation
well you missed the point. i dont say anything about metaknight/tornado not being OP. I even said it can be! I only said its not extremely spammed compared to other skills/characters. you can bring up argument that its op but saying its only spammed while other character spam twice as much some other skill is ridicolous
I realize he won, but I'm sitting here watching this guy spam tornado over and over again. And that's what most MK players do. It's stupid they would even allow it.
I'm amazed that ZSS got two stocks in the first match without even attempting a single throw. Also, "Calm yo ass down nigga". Classy and totally acceptable, as long as you aren't white, I guess.
to be honest. as a newcomer to that game i really wonder. i just watch some random matches and i indeed often saw metaknights. but he often get raped by marth didi zero suit etc. then i read he is so op and only spam nado. but i see him losing several times and other champs spam attacks (zero suit down smash) as much as he spam nado. Ofc I can be wrong, but the "spam argument" is really not good. OP maybe but there are several champs who can compete
SSBB is so bad. I don't understand how people can watch so boring matches like that. It's everytime the same thing. No possibilities. Edgeguarding is really poor, you can always come back no matter how one throws you out. SSBM is so much better...
