The purpose of this composition assignment was to
create a concert piece in multiple parts but with a continuous structure.
It starts intimate where the main melodic theme is presented and gradually becomes more intense in atmosphere and tempo.
The music gathers momentum and groove - a cool part for the drummer -
and reaches the Apex in the end.
Other requested elements were light and popular musical styles and a feature for three snare drum players with visuals.
All these elements are combined in this accessible and groove-oriented work for 13 players
(bass guitar is optional) which will please large audiences and gives the musicians lots of percussion-fun! Performed by Gertrudis Sint Geertruid. Conducted by Roel Meessen.
