Apex Creators Exploiting SBMM for Bot Lobbies is a Problem 

This is a great video, glad you are calling these people out. Tired of seeing this used and its clear who does it. Especially who their opponents are.

I think my biggest issue with it isnt even the fact theyre exploiting sbmm, its the fact they unintentionally make players feel worse about their own skill level. I wish i could be as good as players i see who are content creators but im not, and for a long time this really lowered my own self asteem when it comes to the game. Then i realised a lot of them abuse sbmm to get into easy lobbies. Not to say any of these players are bad, a lot of them are still way better than me, but id be curious to see how a lot of these players perform in lobbies they ACTUALLY belong in. One such example is Zeus, who about a year ago posted footage of what his actual lobbies looked like and he got shit on in so many games, and i have a lot of respect for him actually coming out and saying "this is what our lobbies genuinely look like."

I have noticed this too. The sad reality is, it probably won't matter. We have watched someoneeven re-code games for "records" and be caught. Nothing happened. Dream is a GREAT example.

Even if it's not intentional, that one guy who got lots of attention recently has no shame over the fact everyone he killed had base skins. I don't want to watch a pred farm new players. I want to watch a pub stomper shit on masters 3 stacks.

Hi Kasellos, I've heard a similar thing about abusing SBMM in Apex Pubs. Some say that matchmaking is based on your recent KD, so if you leave the game when you are on the drop ship for 10+ times, then you can get into a bot lobby and this is how SOME people constantly get 20 bombs.

Apex Legends doesn’t use SBMM. It uses EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking). Which is an extremely hard system to rigg your games to give you a certain game experience. Sbmm says: ALL players in the lobby I get matched with are on MY skill level. So each player should be around the same KD, damage average or even rank. (Which is stupid non sense since we are talking about PUBLIC matchmaking for CASUAL gameplay - but hey.) But this isnt the case - I get matched with golds, masters and Preds in the same lobbies in public. This is NOT the definition of SBMM. The definition of EOMM is: The matchmaching tries to to „guide“ you through the game and match you with players to give you a certain experience. For example: game wants you to get some kills - so here is your below average skill lobby. Then you farm some players that are clearly worse than you to give you a good experience. You drop like 7-20 kills (depends ob lobby and your skill level). After that „high kill gameplay“ the matchmaking thinks „oh this guy just had a good experience with many kills, well thats enough for now“. Then it will match you with a very high skill lobby on average with some players that are way over your own skill level. After some of those lobbies you will get a low skill lobby again. Thats how it works. And in case you didnt know: For STREAMERS (aspecially EA sponsored Content creators) EA WHITELISTS sponsored content creators. They get extremely easy lobbies in public. Faide for example farms gold players all day. The Whitelist has been proven. Activision also whitelists their content creator.

This sucks for lower level players too cause you’ll end up getting some crazy player that just runs over your entire team. You’ll look at the guys banner and it’s some 20k+ kill masters wraith when you’re just trying to reach the 1k kill mark with a character

I should add theres definitely more ways to do it than just this, and also sometimes youll randomly get gifted some bad lobbies if you die enough off drop so its important to know the difference between the 2, and also please don't send anyone hate (ever). Also don't hate me for showing how to abuse sbmm, I had to for the sake of supporting evidence

I appreciate you actually no fill for the games you did nothing on, people do that while queuing with teammates and ruin the game for everyone once they leave

This games whole matchmaking is broken, I won a game then instantly get three level 1s as champion squad. This is what you call bot lobbies but then i die 3 times in a row off how drop and literally get literal bots with Bot_Frank lmao

I believe it. I feel like the creators I watch are always having a daily upload on YT and I'm scratching my head like, those guys your facing just some how be missing shots and never down you.

I figured this was happening because if you look at my lobbies ive been getting since im a day one player most of my solo games are teammates that cant hold they're own most of the time so i have to carry them while im facing master/pred stacks by myself because my teammates will disconnect too. It's been hard to get kills in my day one lobbies.

I generally hate bot lobbies even though I have never got a lobby that people were abusing. I have stopped playing Apex for periods of time and when I came back I had to learn my controls again. So I was playing against "good players" and got absolutely destroyed. But when I finally learn everything again, I am unintentionally in a bot lobby. (So I just sit on a rock on Storm Point and watch them miss every shot).

One time I was afk restarted the game and got in a game where I got 4K 16 kills the bots were unreal

See my issue is im the "good" player who does decent in bot lobbies. Only to get rolled by preds in said bot lobby. Sad to be on the bottom of the foodchain but hey, someones gotta be there

I was curious about using a VPN, so I did it myself and went to the 3 most common bot lobbies available. All three lobbies were STACKED with 4k 20 masters players. Rose lobbies were harder than my normal ones. It's blatantly obvious creators, especially mid tier are using vpns

Absolute Facts Man. This needs to be addressed The Sbmm Is definitely Noticable between some RU-vidrs and my games. For example I'm a Plat Player with around a 1.2-1.3 Kd and i consistently get games with Masters and Preds For Example this season only I've gotten into a game with some Players who are by far 5x Better than me to list a few Kohi Xll at the time was 97k on Rampart The Number 2 and 3 Fuse iiitzred at the time 45k Fuse V_Hydroplane at the time 57.1k Fuse Forever Shredded at the time 77.6k Horizon vs the RU-vidrs who be getting consistent 20 Bombs and there lobby's be absolutely Bots. I be looking at the videos and be like How in the world are nit getting at least 1 Master or Even Diamond Stack in there entire Game.

What sucks more then this is strike packs and cronus zen at high level apex. Most preds use it on console to gain pred and abuse it in pubs. It's so bad bro

I just quit out of games until I get bot lobbies for badges, I don't profit off of it though with content

they should add like a soft lock that once you hit like 10000 kills total on your account you should be locked from ever being in these lobbys idk how they haven't already done this

thank you for making this, it honestly surprises me how people can watch a mid player drop 30 bombs everyday and not think something is off. If they’re legit, then they would stream like the rest of us, yet they don’t, not sus at all.

Season 17 has it's issues as well, such as I'm getting masters non-stop and coming across top 10 players such as the number 1 horizon multiple times, and for an example of his stats they have a 7kd this season whereas I only have a 1.7kd and even on my "recent performance" I don't even get kills for three games in a row and continue to get masters, even though I've never been master and 20bomb and 4k players consistently even though I can't solo them. For reference I play no fill duos.

Im in the category where I can do just good enough in pred 3 stack solo trio lobbies for the game to keep me there, but not bad enough to die immediately and get put into a lower lobby. Ngl I dont mind when the game puts me into a lower tier lobby because 1, im solo q'ing, 2, its kinda the only way to enjoy pubs.

I hate it when you get a good game and the next game has preds in it. Crazy. Sbmm should only be in ranked, i believe lobbies should be made based on strictly connection based. So, everyone is always on a fair playing field.

if you have an high average k/d this doesnt work consistently, they just gonna put you with a good teammate and if you have a good game earlier the matchmaking gonna put you with brainless teammate.

I know SoarKobi has mentioned before he was tired of having to sweat all the time in Apex because of SBMM and how crazy our lobbies really get. The devs change matchmaking after Season 0-3 because the lobbies used to be mixed with everyone from your noob to your sweat. I used to be able to pull high kill games back then but now it's hard to get 1 or more kills on top of the fact your teammates can steal your kills

@ayex is a HUGE problem for bot lobbies, every single one of this enemies is a bot, and he averages 100k+ views, i unsubbed from him when i found this out.

Im a previous pred and my friend told me about a glitch that’s extremely gatekept to get into bot lobbies so I figured I’d try it once just for laughs and first game I did it there was 5 streamers in that lobby. I have a 3+ kd and a 16% win rate and I saw more streamers in that bot lobby than I typically see In a month of playing in my real lobbies. Apparently this is the same glitch people have been using to get into bronze lobbies when they are pred to

Thanks. I don't think that applies for mixtape though. Because I can guarantee you that I have an extremely bad aim all and yet 90% of the time I am placed in a game where I am literally the worst player (in dmg and/or kills).

They wouldn't be exploiting the lobbies if respawn would fix them

there are a lot of really good players who dont drop insanely high kill/damage games as consistently as some youtubers who clearly aren't that skilled/insane at the game (not to discredit/downplay anyone) so its pretty obvious who does this and who doesn't tbh

I created another account to help my friend in ranked and got a 2800 damage game and a 14 damage game, i am TERRIBLE at apex, over 1.6k games my highest damage is 1700 and my highest kills is 9 on my main, yet on my new account i got more in like 5 games, the difference in skill between lobbies is immense lol

I’m gonna say this I suck at the game most I’ve gotten is 11 kills and 3k damage yet I’m on lobby’s with preds masters 20 bomb players people with over 80 k kills on there trackers etc can I ask why ? If sbmm really worked should I not be in lower skilled lobby’s or are these all ppl abusing the system?

lol.. this is funny. I actually adjusted my mouse sensitivity yesterday and got instantly better accuracy results. On average about 25% from around 20%ish before and damn after a couple of games, I felt the intensity in lobbies... At the time I didn't realise that this could matter here... This is actually sad, that if this is true, then these metrics giving such a big impact on SBMM are a bit too much. But look from the bright side, at one point crazy cheaters are playing against other cheaters, however, better players are more likely to get more cheaters if that's the case.

I start in Apex legends a few weeks ago, and this apply to non BR modes too - For example I was trying to make a weekly challenge to get 10k damage with pistols, so I have 3 o 4 games with only the P2020, so the damage, aim, kills, where pretty bad. But after that I notice the skill level of the enemies where very very low. So yeah have some kind of skill level adjusment, the issue here it's too much easy go from your "correct" level to a very low level, and destroy the experience of people that are in that place for real reasons, or make this "fantastic" stadistics plays.

Sadly I think this was exploited back when respawn introduced storm point. You would land on prowler nests and just die. They patched that up quick, but I agree with you, what a shitty way to create content by discouraging new players to even play this game again. this happens to me 5 games in a row on accident and I still don't get easy players, so doing it on purpose definitely doesn't do anything, and I tried it, and it doesn't do anything, champion squad still all 20k kills +, maybe you just got a lucky lobby or maybe it is a "away" from game deal to make you want to stay playing when you get back on.

I just quit the game the matchmaking in this game is probably the worst out of every mp game i've ever played. Been playing since season 3 im just done for now the amount of sweat even in pubs with literal ai teammates. This game is a literal gem but due to the matchmaking its a dumpster fire don't get me started on the servers. If i wanna play mp games i'll hop on mw2 and drops some mgb's i really love the invasion mode. Hope apex gets better but its been like 4 years and its steadily getting worse. I also find it funny how we have a report function on apex for smurfing. Yet alot of streamers/content creators are out here smurfing or abusing the matchmaking to get easy lobbies its a complete joke. I swear single player and co-op pve are the only real fun games nowadays. With the amount of cheating/sbmm/eomm matchmaking every pvp game usually has. Its not about having a random experience every new match you play anymore. Its rigged to make you play as long as possible while extracting the most money out of you. I miss when i could come home to actually be excited to hop on multiplayer games. Its sad honestly.

As much as I agree with you on the aspect of creators using bot lobbies as a way to get views is cheap. Apex legends as a game now is SO SWEATY, is doesn't matter if you're playing pubs or ranked bronze, you will always find one team of preds, masters or EVEN DIAMONDS that are decimating lobbies and me as a solo player queuing with random teammates is not gonna work out well. I also understand that apex is a TEAM based game but at the end of the day, you will not win every gunfight and might not even get a win simply because of SBMM. It's hard to enjoy mainly because I'm stuck constantly questioning my skill or gunplay which just makes me play and inturn makes me tilted. Point being, this is entirely respawn's responsibility, they will not change the system because it doesn't affect them.

Love seeing these vids exposing a lot of these RU-vidrs. One thing I always watch for when watching someone is amount of squads left by the end of zone 1. Bot lobby's usually have 12-15 squads left while average lobbies j get have 5-7 squads. Keep it up!!

I mean. Seems like theres a lot of personal incentive to upload this. You know youll get views by showing ppl how to exploit and then just add a title that makes it look like its for good reasons.

I always notice the first game I play of the day, its always the easiest lobby. Even when playing ranked. Idk what thats all about. Would think they want the first to be average so you have a decent game and feel like you can improve.

Tbh, this is not my gaming account but I think that people who upload 20 bombs religiously play no fill. I got a 14 kill 3k dmg game and people said I was fighting bots. They haven’t seen the video yet of course cause I’m still editing, but they think my lobbies are easy. But behind that juicer game was a thousand deaths trying to fight just one squad alone or just bad drops/ guns. But literally I only play no fill any time I’m on. It doesn’t bother me cause I’m used to fights being at a disadvantage and I actually enjoy it when I do well. Also only playing no fill increased your chances to get content. I rarely get 10 kill games cause I’m not as good as the other content creators out there but I’m doing the same thing they do, just play game after game untill I get a great one. I watch their twitch so I know this. And the people they fight aren’t even bots, they are just so good they make people look like bots. And I know I’m not a bot. I’ve done a lot of comparison between myself and great players. I’m just below their level if I’m being realistic. I shield swap fast, loot fast, jump and crouch while looting on controller, super glide, super jump, have above decent accuracy ads and hip fire, can flick shot snipers and shotguns. And I do it on console so there’s no scripts involved. Only thing that might be messing up my match making is the amount of times I die quickly because I have no team support

I can kinda buy the accuracy idea because if I'm in a tough lobby with a bad teammate, I'll have decent aim with decent damage but die with zero kills because I'm alone... And of course, as we've all felt at some point, after getting shat on by a party of preds im then back in another high tier lobby

My lobbies are like 3 players all with 6K + killson their main - i have a 0.6KD FFS its just not right - I may have to do this :S - I play with controller on PC - i aint the best with my aim but im insane with my game sense...

You’ll know ur in a bot lobby when theirs basically 0 diamond or masters trails if ur a high skill player doing this.
