Revenant used to be human. He was the greatest hitman the Mercenary Syndicate ever had. But when his programming eventually failed, he saw what Hammond Robotics had turned him into: a walking nightmare of steel and vestigial flesh. The return of Hammond Robotics to the Outlands has renewed his thirst for vengeance, and he won’t stop until they’re all dead. Of course, he doesn’t mind eviscerating a few Legends along the way.

I cant tell if the machine was already made or they made it after he died but I wouldn't allow the robot to be even activated until the logo is scraped off with a quarter.

@@professionalgunner8123 correct. He was a human at one point but he was killed. And hammond robotics transfered his mind to a simulacrum body (hence why hes a robot now). But they disabled the part of his memory that remembers the events that happened before he became a simulacrum. So he never realizes he died to begin with until that glass shard caused his memory to malfunction and the truth came flooding in

looking back at this, i just realised how genius this all is. ash being shown on screen in the context of simulacrums at 0:10 whilst rev is still shown as a human and his reflection in the glass at 0:43 being human whilst he’s still clearly a simulacrum could mean that he sees some humanity in himself. it would also make sense since shadow revenant said that normal rev felt empathy, so shadow revenant just saw him as another skinbag

@@sapphichoe Caustic is more apathetic towards humanity and instead just wants to observe things that would pique his interest when it comes to suffering others. Revenant on the other hand is a true meaning of psychopath. He murders without reason and is willing to even backstab anyone if it means getting his own way. If anything, Caustic is more tame, but still disturbing when it comes towards other beings solely for his research.

I don’t think it’s that he can see his past self as much as it is due to his programming in his eyes, he’s still human, that’s why he shaves and things like that but when he looked in his reflection after killing Lobas (presumably) father and had the glass shard in his neck he probably realized that if he was human he would be dead.

@@shenanigameshd9461 Well yeah, that's what a Simulacrum is, it's essentially a human's consciousness transferred into a robotic body, free of things like brain chemicals that slow down reaction time and etc. This is why Simulacrum Pilots exist, to be able to react without those kinds of restrictions

But also the detail in his character. Like with the Halloween event how the shadows could climb forever. That's how he scaled the building and then the whole shadow mode. Like that was super dope. I am really loving the lore here. (Although they have said no to a campaign I feel they could pull it off and I would love to see one where you play as these characters and get to see more about their story through the mode.)
