Happy New Year To Everyone! I fell short of my goal of reaching 100,000 subscribers before 2022 ended, but I'm really excited for where 2023 will take us, and I'm confident we'll crush that number. Hope this video helps you all start 2023 on the right foot, and to be prepared for the ISNANE Season 16 that is coming soon. As always, much love!!
Have you tried a controller with magnetic sticks? They almost have no stick drift so it might be better especially for people on linear with no deadzone.
Also have you tried to use abilities on L3, weapon swap on RT, and put interact on R3. I think it's best for interact on R3, better for zips and stuff imo.
Btw, no deadzone on classic is no deadzone. The stick drift doesn't happen is because the response curve for classic is higher. The response curve can impact the stick drift.
The linear vs classic breakdown was the best detailed description I've ever heard. 4-3 classic was what ive been using for 10 seasons i made the change to linear a few day ago and man the beams are real.
Thanks to Verhaulst 😊🤝 Switching to: Linear LB & RB triggers Only thing id change is: Jump - LS Crouch - RS (w/o paddles ofc) If wondering my: Melee - A Zoom - B
Your button layout has helped me a ton in my play. Alas due to muscle memory I couldn’t change some things (like weapon toggle) but with both claw and default grip experience I can easily swap between to use the buttons. Thanks so much for the content and the layout!
I changed everything but weapon toggle as well, putting anything on the left stick is a no-go for me I accidently press it, I use the left stick to zoom in weapons and sprint while having auto sprint, so I don't fat finger the left stick
I’m 45 played Apex since day one I play 4-4 classic feel like I’m a pretty good player above average going to try 4-3 linear I trust your advice your one of the best players I have watched
Evan's button layout explanations were really easy to understand. I just took the layout I normally play on, Button Puncher, and applied the same logic. So now I rock Evolved w/ R1 for Tactical Good luck in Season 18 boys!
Great video! Currently what I use is basically 4-3 linear transferred into ALC so I can fine tune the dead zone to be perfect for my controller. When you use normal settings, you can only turn to dead zone from none to small (small = 10% dead zone in ALC). Even though this gets rid of stick drift for most people, there’s still that small margin where you could turn your dead zone down slightly more and still get 0 stick drift. You want your dead zone to be as low as possible for obvious reasons, so that’s why I transfer 4-3 liner to ALC so I can fine tune the dead zone
I’m gonna have to try using that customized button layout. It’s definitely gonna take some time getting adjusted to using the bumpers to aim and shoot though.
I've been using these keybinds for a couple weeks now and love them. The only keybind I switched was swap weapons, I left that at Y. I noticed when I would start running I would randomly pull out my gun, I would also switch guns mid fight. I have an Xbox elite 2 controller and play with 2 paddles in back. I have my heals on left paddles, and grenades on my right paddle. That way I don't have to take my left thumb off the stick. Thanks for sharing Evan, big help!
I play without paddles and found my perfect layout for movement and aiming. If you wanna try something new give it a shot, I was stuck in Dia 4 and am now Dia 2 on a good way to Master. R1 attack R2 crouch (hold) L1 Jump L2 aim R3: interact/ reload L3: change weapon X: tactical []: ping /\: toggle zoom O: melee You'll need a few days to learn the layout but its worth it, you are as moveable as you never were before. Just hit Firing range with the moving dummies glitch for a few hours and you will get used to it. L2 and R2 are perfect for Hold aim and crouch. Shooting with R1 feels faster and easier to control than with R2. You dont have to leave your joysticks for reload or change weapon. I dont like climbing with pressing r3 or l3, messed up my movement. Trust me its awesome. Btw my ALC which are pretty insane for me right now, not to fast not to slow: Deadzone 5% Response curve 0% Yaw 280 (extra yaw 30) Pitch 230 (extra pitch 30) ADS Yaw 132 ADS Pitch 123 Per Optic: 1.0 1.1 1.3 above 2 times Good Luck
@4:20 I think it is because on classic, there is not a lot of margin of error when making large adjustment, thus when taking horizon lift upwards (which you have to make large adjustment) you have a small margin of error shooting down
Swapped from 4-4 classic per your old video settings to 4-3 linear today and went off, 17 kills and almost another 4k in just a few games, you the man Evan!
Experiencing feats on ALC and Classic/Linear I recommend linear. 4 sens (220 on ALC) is damn near perfect for hipfire. 210 - 280 yaw can work but faster than that is pushing aim assist limits. Please note a lot of NA pros have abandoned ALC although they had great success on it notably Knoqd and Pxnderz. Some ALC pros do well with ALC using exact yaw and pitch speeds (110,110) having great success. Wxltzy , unlucky, and tylerfps are rockstars with this sens it is possible but this takes "gifted hands. My true problem with ALC is understand two variables, extra yaw speed/pitch and ramp-up delay we do not know how these variables change with increased speed so this is holding the gate closed for progress. Getting aim acceleration right is a pain in the ass but super necessary. With ALC you always feel like something just isn't right correcting one variable not knowing how it affects the others.
I appreciate what you say about ALC, but I've honestly never looked back. Having played from season 0, I started out on classic and then transitioned to linear then ALC. Takes some getting used to, but I feel like I have more control over my aim and recoil control. The main disadvantage of using ALC is long range engagements with fully automatic weapons. I've since tried to go back to classic settings, even as much as a 7-6 sensitivity and it just feels too slow! I never touched the extra yaw/pitch or ramp up delay as I prefer a raw feel for the input, rather than variable, accelerated aim if I pull my stick all the way in 1 direction. Yeah, I always feel like something can be tweaked with ALC as there many variables. I think the main benefit is being able to sacrifice certain aspects (depending on your playstyle) or find a 'happy median' rather than some default pre tuned setting. That's just my take. I'm no pro by any means.
@@nickknowledge298I agree man my alc sense feels really good for everything but long range, like my long range flatline is damn near atrocious ngl, even with r301 it's a lot better but Ive tried and tried I just can't change my alc to compensate for long range without messing up my close range completely. so after this comment I will start using 4-3 or 5-3 and see how that works for long range. but like you said alc feels way better to control recoil even tho my long range is pure garbage. I don't know how that makes sense or how it works but it just does lol
@@nickknowledge298 Having only messed with ALC a little I can agree that the variables play off each other. And how those aspects come to work in an actual match can be complex. You almost need to be able to quick switch between a few custom presets depending on the weapon and situation, just like real life.
@@nickknowledge298 I missed your comments! Thanks for the convo. Man I want it to work man lols, please be the change. We gonna need it soon apparently as they keep looking at the AA. Nah you dont have to be a pro just a fan mane! I love currently right now the most successful ALC players are Wxltzy and Genburten. I love vexed too i think unlucky went to 4-3 though
the best way to understand Classic & Linear is this. say you have 1 long stick and 1 short stick. Imagine holding the long stick like a wand and move it around trying to point at stuff. It’s gonna feel slow and heavy. (Classic) Do the same with the short stick and it’s gonna feel quick and light. (Linear) That’s exactly how it feels between Linear and Classic
My ALC's are a mix of 4-3/4-4 linear, I use low deadzone, 3 response curve, 330 horizontal and like 230 vertical, and my ADS is 150 horizon and 105 vertical. If you look up the conversion chart I'm like 4-4 on the high end of 4 for my hipfire and use a little higher than 4 for my ADS. Thats why I don't have my response curve on 0, the 3 allows for me to be consistent with my shots but on the linear end of the spectrum for a higher ADS sens.
My buttons are similar to yours, but I have zoom on right stick click, ping on left trigger, with two paddles for crouching and jumping. Highly recommend it! My other two paddles are grenade and extra character interaction. Maybe you'll main Rampart one day and need that quick wall disassemble!
@@kayzrb966 what do you mean? Are you confusing ADS for zoom? My ADS is the same as Verhulst's. I only use right stick click to switch between zoom levels for a 2-4 or 4-8 scope.
I had to come back because at first I doubted the process but im here with a testimony! The button that had me crazy was the L3 button for weapon swap. I was like plankton in my lab contemplating how, how can it be he did this. Not only is l3 weapon swap a really good idea i even changed my r3 to reload. Pressing none of the ABXY buttons and switching them for paddles and other buttons seems to be a must in BRs. THANK YOU VERHULST. I love ya mane
Button layout b slide right stick jump is all I need. I play claw. Verhulsts grind is insane. That button layout for the sake of efficiency is very respectable
I tried Genburten sens like a half a year it is good but yeah it was so hard to be consistent and i switch to 4-3 linear no deadzone, i will try to small deadzone. Thank you for this tips and advice :)
Verhulst you are a idol to me been playing your settings watched you since season 11 got me into grinding git my first 4k on horizon and i hit diamond which was my highest taught me to keep improving no matter what people say your are a inspiration to a lot of people all i can say is thanks man for everything you have done for the apex community
Hello, i have two questions regarding sens that weren't discussed in the video. 1- would you consider linear the best sens while taking into account the fact that some people play a few times a week and switch between shooters? 2- I have seen a semi known player (vyp, you probably know him), use an "exploit" (don't know how else to call it) which allows you to use standard sens at decimal values ( for example, he is playing 3.8 ads) by messing with the per optic settings and the alc per optic settings, are you aware of this feature at all? Have you ever messed with it?
Oooweee I would love to answer this yes sir If you are a casual definitely suggest classic over linear and heres why! Linear while better takes alot of consistency to learn I have played apex for years and coming back to linear after while you will make mistakes. The other thing you're talking about for per optics isn't much an exploit, anyone can do it. I don't know if I can recommend it.....many pros don't tweak per optic sens the only one that comes to mind is Dezignful.
@@armaniesingletary8979 thanks for the reply. Regarding the ads decimal sens, that definetly is an exploit since it's done using some properties of the alc per optic menu, disabling alc and then having those settings stay on for what is probably a mistake in the code. Since writing the comment I found out that a few Japanese pros are doing this, but the vast majority of controllers is not doing it since there are plenty of "normal " options to find tune your sens
Can u make video more in depth about back buttons such as which ones to get and how to like connect it to your controller and what setting to use like u mentioned ping but what about jump or crouch
Would you suggest the left stick holster if u on ps5 or ps4 controller or you think it can stay triangle since I tried the left swap holster it feels good but when I am in a intense 1v1 I hit triangle by accident I am a aggressive player
Really nice video dude, very good breakdown on the Linear vs Classic. I do use ALC settings but as linear. Response Curve: 0 Outerthreshold: 1 Deadzone: Varies Yaw - 240 [This is literally 4,3] Pitch - 180 ADS 90 -100 [Depending on FOV] Pitch 60- 70 ^ Everything else at 0 Would really recommend if you use linear but want more specific adjustments like if Pitch feels to twitchy and custom deadzone instead of using small.
Linear is by far the easiest and most intuitive response curve to hit the ground running with as someone that's been playing FPS games with MnK since the 90s. I think classic feels bad to me because it's like playing the game with mouse acceleration on. Up until recently when I started messing around with controller in Apex the bulk of my controller FPS experience was in Halo 1 and Halo 2 before their respective PC ports were released.
Very helpful video! Had to switch to a controller from KBM for a medical reason and man I was struggling to understand what controller settings to use.
Awesome! I’ve been waiting so long for this video, thanks! Can you please tell what kind of right stick you use and also what is your stick tension? Thank you!
i just started playing 4-3 linear and my god it has helped me improve alot i feel like i can beam across the map with an r9 cus you dont need as much input its actually night and day compared to classic!
I'm Japanese and a fan of Verhulst. I'm watching his videos with automatic translation, but I think he's playing the Steam version of Apex. I heard that the Steam version of the controller has a special dead zone, etc. Does Verhulst make any settings in the Steam controller settings? I'm playing the origin version and I'm thinking of switching to the Steam version. I'd like to ask for advice on the settings for the Steam version, as it would be troublesome if the sensations such as sensitivity are different. I'm sorry if there's something you don't understand because I translated it.
Yooo, my binds are actually similar, only one that's the same is jump. Same thought process and everything, I do play paddles with an elite controller for my weapons, and the other for heals
330/220 look sens with 150/100 extra speed and 135/90 ADS with 15/10 extra is the way to go for me. A tiny bit below 9 response curve still allows for no deadzone and it's a LOT smoother than classic. I just can't play with a deadzone. It always feels like I'm not fully in control.
I agree with basically everything except the horizon Q point. I definitely think classic is better while going up the lift. It feels more sticky if that makes sense.
So I used to run 3, 3 classic and I never really have Linear A chance bc I did fairly well but I decided to try it and after about 10 mins in the range I went to a pub and dropped 20+ kills 5k msg and my aim never felt more smooth. I appreciate the god setting V.
My personal "paddle killer" layout (nearly identical to Verhults with the following changes): right trigger: jump left stick: tactical right stick: changing weapons I use my right index finger for Y as well - having this button set for Interact/Reload makes paddles pretty much obsolete. As long as you don´t fat finger your sticks you will be fine! (which you want to avoid with any layout anyway - this one just helps you break the habit :)
I gotta question I got terrible drifting and I been i steady when I’m on linar I have to be on large dead zone for no drift at least idk if it better or should I go small?
