You are not alone. I ended singing in a language that is not from this world. Gosh, nordic languages are difficult... Why can't all be easy to pronounce like Spanish?
To me Norwegian, Swedish and Danish was the easest to understand. I did understand some of the Icelandic words, but I didnt understand a thing in Finnish.
Norwegian, Swedish and Danish are all extremely similar languages, all coming from the same root. Icelandic is branched off into its own language a while before the other three broke up, and has had more time to become strange and different. The Finnish language is a dialect of Martian, and has virtually no relation to the other four.
It's kinda weird. I'm Finnish and I can speak Swedish - at least a little - so I understand pretty much of all this. Icelandic is a bit different though. Also I like this video.
