@@Herbert2892 I don't know about Kerald, but I'm super pretentious. I only attend movie viewings using vintage viewmasters that are burned after the first use so the experience can't be duplicated by the less refined. It's the only way one can appreciate cinematic fare such as this and The Story of Ricky. Seriously, I can see why some don't like Kitano's work but the movies I mentioned really did it for me..."Takeshis'"...not so much.
@@Sidharthavicious o really? and what the hell you see in gangsters doing nothing in the damn beach in the entire movie? and im really not into marvel movies.
This has a feel like nothing else. Kind of nostalgia mixed with the inevitability of life that nothing ever changes and you’re just a tiny insignificant part of the grand total. You just live and do what you do and you're ok with it
At this point I don't know how many times I've returned to this video, but I think a thank you is warranted at this point... So thank you for making this
I've watched this like ten times, then watched the movie, and I'm still visiting this. High key a masterpiece. Didn't think the movie would be as good as this video, but it was. But at the same time, this edit is in another genre all together. I love how this video doesn't spoil anything about the movie, but even after watching the movie, the impact of this edit doesn't change. 10/10
As a big fan of Takeshi Kitano and Aphex Twin let me just thank you for the incredible skill you put into editing the song to scenes from this movie which I am now massively intrigued in watching. Videos like this are like a gift from on high.
It's fascinating to see what people come up with when interpreting Aphex Twin. Most of the time they are really interesting. Just like this. Really cool editing. I've never seen the movie, but it feels like I kind of got the plot. If the timeline in the movie is linear you made it way more interesting with your edits.
One of my all time favorite fan music videos. Sonatine fits the mood of this rather amorphous song pretty well and the editing you did on the thing makes it even better and weirder.
Thank you so much for making this. The way the footage of the film, the scenes of simple joy in the face of a harsh and grinding world matches the the gentle beauty laced in between hard percussion is near perfection. I revisit this so often, and it touches me every time.
Thank the algorithm for sending me this video and finally getting me to watch Sonatine. Also, this video totally does the film justice. Manages to capture the vibe well!
This video is incredibly touching to me somehow. I liked the song before, but after watching this my feelings about the song completely morphed and gave me new appreciation. The way the film is shot makes me think of my childhood
Aphex Twinのこの曲+たけし、というだけで、もうびっくりですね。ナイーブなやさしさと、根源的な暴力性のミックスが、マシュマロ入りナッツチョコアイスのようにあなたを襲う。素晴らしいMV。 Just think of this song by Aphex Twin + Takeshi, and you'll be amazed. The mix of naive gentleness and fundamental violence hits you like nutty chocolate ice cream with marshmallows. Great music video. 隻要想想Aphex Twin + Takeshi的這首歌,你就會大吃一驚。天真的溫柔和基本的暴力混合在一起,像堅果巧克力冰激淩加棉花糖一樣衝擊著你。偉大的音樂視頻。
I want to deeply thank you for your editing I got so fascinated by both the music and the movie that i have discovered Aphex Twin and Sonatine - i have watched Sonatine earlier today, and it was a magnificent movie to watch I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to Sonatine and Takeshi Kitano' other works The song and the movie fits excellent together by the way!
Great job, the music and video complement each other so well, the duality of tragedy and beauty life gives us comes across from both. Also the editing is sooo good!
I Accidently came across this a year ago , listened to it for weeks, somehow forgot about, and it just popped into my head today and here I am again. I love it❤❤
This is SO well put together & the quality of both that Aphex Twin Song and the movie Sonatine is a pair of about as good as either music or movies get. Just on their own! Incredible imagination putting these two together it’s like they were meant to go together after seeing your cut of this. Thanks for making it.
I've never watched this movie before, but it seems really good and the match with the music is very interesting and curious. good job with the editing too
I come back to this edit all the time. It resonates deeply with me, and I don't quite understand it. But I love this video. Thank you for this wonderful edit, dude! I appreciate your effort.
@@professorchik6899 pointless. A bunch of gangsters doing shit like that fighting doll scene as if it was the most "artsy" thing in the world. A few good scenes but in my opinion this movie is thrash... i got it, its nihilistic, the protagonist likes to play children games because it doenst matter to act like a gangster anymore, but i find the plot was boring as hell. And i hate superhero movies, so it is not as if i didnt know nothing about cinematography...
I'll throw my opinion out there if it will help decide if you want to watch Sonatine. I liked it, but I can totally see why some won't like it. Takeshi Kitano's movies tend to be very still and quiet then occasional sudden violence or slapstick comedy. Imagine watching a Bob Ross painting show that randomly switches channels to a violent Taranatino scene or a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
really love how the editing in this video manages to manipulate the tone of many scenes given they are out of context here in comparison to when watching the film
@@w7black Thanks. For a guy who enjoys watching yakuza fall into holes and shooting beer cans off of each other's heads I'm proud to have made a subtle joke.
Just watched sonatine after watching this video the other day, was amazing. Thank you so much for this incredible edit - I was entranced when I first watched it but it’s levels above now that I’ve seen the movie :)
