Great video! I suffered from depression and anxiety and was on medication for 3 years and always thought a shotgun license was out of the question. I applied for my license and was 100% honest about past medical history and the police officer recommended I made an appointment with my doctor. I explained to the doctor about the application and he wrote a short letter to forward to the police and 10 weeks later I got my license!!!
congratulations on your SGC Yes indeed it does not automatically stop you having a SGC, however the procedure has now changed, the police will automatically contact your GP so that you now dont need to aproach the GP yourself. Good hunting
I was so happy when I got mine, was great going to the clay club with my own kit.. my feo is brilliant and I love nothing more on a Sunday morning shooting with my pal in the countryside..
Thank you for that. You are clearly thinking ahead, That's great. Good luck on your application and please let me know how you get on. Please visit my new channel Yorkshire Outdoorsmen as i don't really use this one anymore
Great information I've finally got a form to fill out and send off I had concerns because I was prescribed a 2 month course of antidepressants 2 years ago and although I haven't suffered any relevant conditions since that time I'd heard that they see the word depression and their arses fall out I ordered a cabinet and joined basc today and they advised me to go and see my gp and get a letter to include with my application I'm hoping for a successful application so I can enjoy some good sport I'm in hull and I've read that we have great wildfowling on the Humber
Darrell, Thanks for the comment. I wouldn't worry too much. BASC is definitely the place to be so to speak. A communication from your GP will usually do the trick.
You absolutely do need to always declare speeding convictions and any other driving convictions. Parking fines aren't convictions. They do it need to be recorded.
Hello, fellow Yorkshire man here, I am 20 years old and I have been shooting Shotguns for 5 years, I was originally denied my licence when I was 15 although my father got his and now I want to put off for my licence again. Where there is an issue is I am currently on an anti-depressant for anxiety, so I am trying to gain as much feedback as possible before putting off for one, I am going to join BASC before I apply and I will also visit my doctor for his opinion. I have heard mixed responses some people say I will be automatically denied and others say I have a chance.
To date 2020 after a year I still don't have my licence and I beg to differ about medical condition Durham Police made a big thing about my depression 8 years ago when my Mum died.
Yes indeed, you are spot on personally I think we should secure them away at all times, especially if you have childrenand inquisitive teenagers in the house
Convictions - not so. Between 3 months and under three years - now including suspended sentences will prohibit someone under S21 firearms act for 5 years - more than 3 years is a lifetime prohibition but this prohibition can be lifted by a Crown Court.
In the United States a conviction over 1 year losses your gun rights unless you can get an expungement But then again you can still own a Muzzleloader And in some states simply seeking help for anxiety can cause to your gun rights and cost you tens of thousands of dollars to get them restored
You can still fire cartridge without the gun put the cartridge in a steel pipe and get a hammer with a nail or something on the end of it hit that primer makeshift shotgun
I know shotgun slugs are considered Section 1 but are you guys allowed to pour wax in a bird shot shell to make it a single projectile or do they cut shell and use the whole show is a projectile
Great video! I applied for my SGC earlier this month and its only after watching your video I've realised that i haven't had one of my photos signed by my referee only one is signed by me. Is this a problem that i will get the chance to resolve or will i have to re apply for my licence ?
Jo Thanks for that yes it will be an issue. Hopefully you will have it sorted by now. Sorry for the late reply as im working on my new channel as I dont use this one anymore. PLease pay a visit to Yorkshire outdoorsmen chanel Cheers
Hi Joe, I recently submitted my application and did not include a signed photo by my referee as it was not requested as part of the guidance notes. I have seen inconsistencies over what people have advised in various videos and I can only imagine this is the case because the requirements have changed over the years. As your post is 2 months old, perhaps you can advise further if you have any news? Cheers
Well thats a good question. If you loose one, there will definitely be some questions asked and your suitability with be brought into question. If one is stolen, well, it happens but if you can show that you were looking after the security side of things as well as it is possible at the time it wont be quite so bad. However neither situation would do you any favors im afraid
very good video iam planning to apply for shotgun certificate for shotguns with these barrel lengths 11inches and 12.5 inches and 18inces I've told the police I want these they say these prohibited normally but if the application is refused do I have good chance of winning in court
Arshad, Im afraid not. Current law in the uk I believe states that the barrel length must not be less that 24 inches, and the overall gun length of 40 inches. Hope this was helpful. Please visit my new channel Yorkshire Outdoorsmen as I dont use this one anymore..
Home-Defence & most riot-model,types of shotguns were banned in 1988/89. Before that, they were permitted on a Section 1 license, the same as a Coach-gun, today-but you could only have it, if you were a Practical-shotgun shooter, who had joined the relevant club & the UK PSA, etc-from what ive read. Blame Micheal Ryan & Kevin Weaver for these restrictions.
Medical - and not meaning to criticise - but so people are not misinformed , as each case is different. If you have condition to declare - they wouldn't normally need to give you a letter to take to your GP. These days, if they feel more details are needed, they may give you a letter asking for a medical report. There is currently controversy over this - but firearms guide from HO says the applicant pays for this. If further report is needed, police must pay. So re medical letter, many applicants would not be required to do this.
I'm 19 and I really want to start shooting and own a shotgun, but I still live at home and my mum 100% wouldn't approve. I've got knives and a crossbow, but I can barely do anything with them.
I think it's horrible you guys can't have shotgun slugs on a shotgun certificate you might be able to get around it by doing a wax slug are doing a cut shell slug or casting your shot into a round balls no one would be the wiser what you do on your own private property but at least you can have Buckshot for the bad guy who breaks in your house
